🗣️ Atlantic City Aquarium: Reviews
Negative experience: It has potential but right now it should not be open. There's only 1 room with a touch tank and some fish. Done in less than 20 min.
Fantastic experience: So glad it's reopened! As of July 2025 Adult tickets are $12 each.
Positive experience: My child loved the touch a shark area. The turtle, crab and lobster were great to see. They had a nice variety for only the first floor having sea creatures yet. We tried the photo booth, which was cute and fun. Behind the aquarium it is nice to see the area with the boats. We spent a good 40 mins total and it was a nice stop for the kids.
Negative experience: We went to the Atlantic City Aquarium hoping to pass some time since it was raining. We knew there was some construction being done to the exhibits, but we were very disappointed with what was offered and the price we paid for adults. They’re offering 50% off right now but only one floor really has exhibits available. The third floor is just a look out area which would have been nice to know before traveling out that way. Felt like a wasted trip, hopefully they’ll be done with their new exhibits so others can enjoy a full experience. Also the entrance makes no sense… having the elevator where people enter and are trying to move through to purchase tickets just adds to the congestion at the front.
Negative experience: Tiny space, very limited things to see, nothing on the observation deck, used to be very nice, now it sucks
Positive experience: Still under expansion. Should be charging less $ for 1st floor exhibits only. In and out in 30 minutes or less.
Positive experience: Cute small aquarium plan to spend about 30-45min. Kids really had a fun time
Positive experience: Free concert there was great. There was food vendors and a public bathroom (I hate Porto potty). I found free parking in the street before the aquarium. Brought my folding camp chair and had a great time. Going back on July 26
Negative experience: Shouldn't open without the five touch tanks in the second floor EMPTY ! ANOTHER MARTY SMALL HOODWINK . .
Negative experience: This is an aquarium you should go to if you want something to do for about 15 minutes. No labels on any of the tanks, staff bombard you as you walk around and add their own input to your conversations. The gift shop is also very small. But for $6? Sure. Why not. And don’t bother going upstairs, there is absolutely nothing up there besides empty tanks.
Positive experience: It was a nice lil stop off. Sadly the second floor had no animals currently. They only charged half price because of that so... My husband and I enjoyed it and the observation deck was wonderful. The only thing we hope they add soon are name tags so we know what species were looking at. We'll go back as they are in a building phase.
Positive experience: Was still being worked on but the shark touching exhibit was a big hit! For what it was, we had a good time! It is rather small!
Positive experience: It was nice for what's there but it was a very small room with maybe eight tanks. It's just not up and going yet. May visit again redo my review
Negative experience: Very small. Great fish! Upstairs not really stocked yet. Needs some time to be fully ready
Positive experience: Nice place for a super hot day or rainy day. Very small but nice to explore. Nice lookout on the third floor.
Positive experience: We enjoyed the AC Aquarium- it’s a good thing to do in a rainy or extra hot day. They are a work in progress of acquiring more to see.
Fantastic experience: Very small aquarium. Top floor doesn’t have any animals so it was half price. The only thing I didn’t like is there are no signs to tell you what the fish are in each tank. Otherwise, it’s perfect for toddlers and cheap.
Fantastic experience: The kids had the best time! Only the main level had live animals, which is why the price was currently 50% off. Well worth it! The kids have already asked to go back.
Negative experience: Whoever project management this remodel/ opening and the Aquarist should be fired. The second floor isn’t finished, which is fine because they offer 50% off, but regarding what is finished? Some aquariums were empty, some were too small for the fish they had in them, and some were WAY over crowded. No signs to say what any fish is (it is *not* hard to put temporary signs up). All the aquarium glass was covered in some sort of film that made it hazy; which is interesting because it smells so strongly of cleaner in there is was sickening. The oyster display on the third floor was laughable because you couldn’t see the oyster shells because of all the caulk (I’m guessing) on the INSIDE of the acrylic… like WHOOOOO approved this place to open already? Lolol what a money grab.
Fantastic experience: AMAZING! So much fun. Got to pet so many sea creatures. This place is definitely a must! So cute and fun!
Negative experience: The Atlantic City Aquarium promotes itself as a three-floor experience, but unfortunately, only the first floor offers anything to see or do. The second and third floors were completely empty during my visit, which made the whole place feel unfinished or forgotten. With no interactive elements or informative signage—even basic labels identifying the fish—the visit felt more like a brief walk-through than an enriching experience. For the price of admission, it felt more like a donation than a fair exchange. I was in and out in about 15 minutes, left feeling disappointed, and have no plans to return. This place has potential, but right now, it’s just not delivering.
Fantastic experience: I loved my visit to the Atlantic City Aquarium! Some of the highlights were the opportunity to pet different species of sharks, a horseshoe crab touch tank, a huge sea turtle, three tropical reef tanks, sting rays, sea horses, and jellyfish. Although the aquarium is relatively small, the admission prices are very reasonable. Part of what made our visit so memorable was speaking with two employees who were very passionate and knowledgeable about aquatic care. I can't wait to visit again when the second-floor renovations are completed.
Negative experience: Not alot going on here. Basically just 1 room. It was worth the $6
Fantastic experience: Even though the second floor was still not fully operating at the time we visited, but it’s always lovely to have a place can be able to see and even touch some sea creatures up close…
Negative experience: There was not a lot there to be honest thank goodness it was only $16 bucks for 2 adults and 2 children 4 &1 I’m assuming they were free. The 2nd floor didn’t have anything due to they just did some remodeling, at least I can say I’ve been but that’s about it
Fantastic experience: Very nice girls had a great time 2,nd floor wasn't open yet,so we pay only 1/2 price
Positive experience: Great! I can't wait for them to finish the upstaris
Negative experience: Only few spots are open to view, whole second floor is empty. Maybe they are still working on it or renovating it. Not worth time.
Positive experience: It's hasn't been completed yet. It is suited for families with young children.
Fantastic experience: Amazing spot in Atlantic City's Gardner Basin. Near the Brigintine Bridge
Negative experience: Do not waste your time! Half of the fish were missing. Took 10 minutes to walk through. The workers were rude and not friendly at all! Not even worth the drive.
Fantastic experience: I took my 3 year old daughter to AC aquarium on a week day. We live near the jenkinsons boardwalk aquarium but have been there many times and my daughter runs through it. Although this aquarium was small they had several touch tanks and the staff were very nice and interacted great with my daughter. She also loved the drawing room up on the 2nd floor. It's a small spot but worth the trip on a rainy or hot day. Parking was free and the ride was easy.
Positive experience: Recently reopened AC Aquarium is nice, but only the first floor is available - replete with a couple of touch tanks for children. There are no exhibits on the 2nd floor. For this reason, they only charged half price for visitors ($6 per adult). The staff stated they are still awaiting fish/creatures for the 2nd floor, which is set up with additional touch tanks. There is potential for this to be a nice family activity, but its too early to visit imo. Lastly, a nice surprise is that they have 2 EV chargers (Charge Point) in the parking lot.
Fantastic experience: it was small but very cute, the employees there are extremely kind and knowledgeable. i just wish we came at a later date because they didn’t have all of their marine life yet
Negative experience: Half price because of second floor not open. Not even worth it. We're i. And out in 10 minutes. Kid very disappointed
Fantastic experience: This was such a great stop and currently half price. It’s not fully open yet (only the first floor) but there are two touch tanks and lots of great exhibits. Signage could be improved a little but great for little kids and a nice stop in Gardiners Basin. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: Such a cool aquarium! They had two touch tanks and very knowledgeable staff! The bottom floor was the only thing open while they renovate the upstairs. Will be coming back next year with our kids.
Negative experience: There’s a reason it’s 6 bucks. Brought my family here thinking it was gonna be a fun Saturday. But true bout there is only one floor and barely any fish. To make it even worse my daughter wanted to see the turtle and it was swimming into the glass the whole time looking very distressed.
Positive experience: Same as before the renovations but clean. Only 1 floor had animals, so we got a 50% discount. They should be 100% in a few weeks. Good for an hour if the weather is bad and the kids need something to do. I liked all the art outside on the boardwalk area was redone.
Negative experience: Posting because I hope they see that they should be asking for donations right now. It is not fair for them to charge (even half price) while it isnt complete. As everyone else has said, not finished, almost nothing to see or do(yet)My dad said he payed to color like a kid, and our family was in and out in 10 min. $35- for all of us. I hope our money goes to a special treat for the few animals there!
Positive experience: Web site not current. Contacts by telephone were useless (no answers). Not too much to see. Lots of parking when we were there (weekday, off season). They have plans to expand so we may revisit this Fall 2025?
Fantastic experience: The aquarium isn't finished yet, but the entire bottom floor is accessible and looks amazing. They have a variety of different sections of the ocean that are set in decent size tanks. There is a tank with a large turtle, a petting tank with horseshoe crabs, a petting tank with small sharks. The employees are also very nice and are open to explaining the features fish. Overall this aquarium is amazing and I would love to see the results of the second floor when finished.
Fantastic experience: Atlantic City Aquarium – A Charming Comeback! Visited on May 16, 2025 After being closed for five long years, the Atlantic City Aquarium has finally reopened its doors – and what a delightful return it is! While the renovation is still in progress (with the second floor under construction), the first floor is fully open and offers a small but charming selection of exhibits. The aquarium may be modest in size, but it’s packed with personality and perfect for a short, relaxing visit. The marine life on display is well cared for, and the atmosphere is clean, bright, and welcoming. It’s a great spot for families with young kids or anyone looking to enjoy a peaceful hour or two by the water. One of the highlights is the incredible view from the third floor – a beautiful panorama of the beach that’s worth the visit alone. Currently, they’re offering a generous 50% discount on admission: just $6 for adults and $3 for children, which makes it not only enjoyable but also extremely budget-friendly. Plus, there’s plenty of free parking, which is always a huge bonus in Atlantic City. All in all, the Atlantic City Aquarium is making a great comeback, and we can’t wait to see it fully restored. It’s a sweet little gem that’s definitely worth supporting!
Positive experience: Brand new facility but not many exibits finished.
Fantastic experience: Great experience at this brand new facility. The updated design is looking great. They charged us half off for the inconvenience of upstairs being closed off for construction. And updating. Great service. Can’t wait to come again to see the new additions.
Negative experience: I was excited to go and see what they did after it wasn't open for years.I didn't make it in cause they charge a $12 fee for adults and I didn't even know it was a fee to get in. Which is unfair and the whole upstairs is not even done. Idk if they trying to recover the money back that they put into it to remodel but it's ridiculous
Fantastic experience: new residents of AC amd New to the State… but Im so Glad I found out about the aquarium and the history before covid We can now enjoy the reopening of this aquarium, hopefully growing up and continuing progressing. Is not what Im used to, coming from Boston, but I really enjoy the day, specially right on the boardwalk. My family had a pleasant time as well. Very welcoming and the friendly atmosphere.
Fantastic experience: I'm a frequent visitor of the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, Georgia. I love visiting Aquariums around the country and this compact aquarium is by far the cutest and coolest one to visit. It has a very simple layout and a calm atmosphere. All the employees are enthusiastic about being a part of this aquarium and have much love for the sea friends in their care. I will visit this place often. Amazing, and praying for the best to all involved with this aquarium.
Negative experience: ts was like a petsmart. one room. murky water. there was a crab he was pretty cool. turtle wouldn’t even show his face he was so embarrassed. the stingrays were alright. there is much room for improvement. wouldn’t pay more than $6 and even that was steep.
Negative experience: Disappointing but inexpensive. Just know it’s VERY small. Basically 1 room of fish to see. The tanks aren't labeled so you have no idea what kind of fish/animal you are looking at. Don’t hype it up to your kids. Spent maybe 30 minutes inside.
Fantastic experience: Newly renovated and awesome. Lots of fish to touch some sand sharks. Upper wasn't opened yet but clearly will be pots of fun for kids with live water pools to see fish up close.
Positive experience: The aquarium is nice. It has been remodeled but the second floor is not complete
Negative experience: Workers were very rude. No warning sign on the touchable fish. When I touched a fish, worker showed up and acted very rude. Unecessary stairing due to someone picking up a fish before us.
Positive experience: Went on opening weekend.... it was chaotic and 2nd floor didn't have any fish!!. But willing to give a 2nd chance at a later date.
Positive experience: This is the ATLANTIC CITY aquarium. Do not expect what you may have seen at other places. This is a basic aquarium that you can see some sea life found at the beach and in the deep ocean. This location is walking distance from the Gilchrist, so enjoy breakfast then go to the aquarium afterwards. The aquarium has 2 floors but at the time of our visit, the first floor was open and the 2nd floor was a work in progress. We saw sea life (crabs, sea horses, fish, turtles, etc). We touched a shark and took pictures. Parking was FREE and on a great day you have great views of the water. Visit and enjoy!
Positive experience: Still under construction, only one floor of exhibits, but what they had was really good. Well worth the little bit of money they charge, gives us a reason to go back.
Fantastic experience: Adorable little aquarium that doesn't break the bank! Plus you're at the beach, can't go wrong! The newly renovated floor wasn't done yet, cant wait to go back and see it!
Positive experience: It's a cute little aquarium for children. They can pet baby sharks and horse shoe crabs. It looks like they are still renovating.
Negative experience: Showed up at 4:01 and would not let us in due to last admission being 4pm while they stood there and looked at us. Horrible service wouldn’t even pick up their phone. Had to drag my daughter away crying. You would think after being closed for so many years they would appreciate customers. 0/10 experience.
Negative experience: Can barely be called an aquarium. Maybe more of a children’s aquarium. Very very small, entire second floor was just empty tanks. Literally took 15 minutes to see everything in the place.
Negative experience: Awful! Don’t waste your time or money. There are barely any fish or animals to look at if you could see through the cloudy water. Such a disappointment!
Negative experience: I’d say this is more of an aquarium for little kids. And I’ll also say I think Tracey Morgan’s personal fish tank might be bigger.
Positive experience: Love the renovations. Everything looks great but there's no fish or much sea life. 3 floors and it takes about 5 minutes to see everything. At least right now, don't waste your money.
Fantastic experience: It's only the first floor right now but still a nice place to visit!
Negative experience: Don’t waste your time and money. 3 floors and a couple of fish. They should never have opened until they were full. We spent $25 and was in and out in less than 10 minutes
Positive experience: Aquarium recently opened; wasn’t fully in operation yet but still worth checking out! 2 touch tanks downstairs, 6 more to open upstairs. Definitely coming back to check out once everything is operational. Only suggestion clean the glass more we were there only an hour after opening and the glass was filthy with marks. Add signage explaining the animals in the tanks.
Positive experience: It was ok. We went here on a Monday after the reopening. First floor has nursing sharks to pet, aquarium of jellyfish, seahorse, crab, big fish and turtles. On the second floor, the ponds are still empty but they have the photo-booth and a mini activity room which children can draw or color. Though the staff gave us entrance fee discount and my toddler was free, we just wish that we didn’t have to pay entrance fee because the whole place was not ready yet. But we understand that the place needs to generate fund to support itself. The important thing for us that my 2yo daughter enjoyed visiting this place and staff were nice and helpful. We’re looking forward to be back whenever it’s fully ready.
Fantastic experience: We went to the grand reopening! Lovely place it's small but it has 2 levels, you can find seahorses, all type of fish, baby sharks, a huge turtle I was so amazed how big it is!. I believe it's Aquarium was closed for over 5 years. They had food and music for the reopening day! It was really cute
Negative experience: Total waste of time and money. Definitely not worth the trip. 3/29/25
Negative experience: Was a great family spot, no one seems to know when it will reopen to the public. Will it reopen? Will it still be affordable.
Positive experience: We drove over and were very disappointed to find out that it was closed. Usually stop in once year as albeit small... always enjoyable. Great local educational spot for kids. Also nice to walk around outside on a nice day. I do hope that they reopen soon.
Positive experience: It’s a nice place for kids to enjoy. But it was stinking. Poor ventilation and cleanliness was not the priority. But if you go on to the second level, there are amazing views of the ocean and the city.
Positive experience: Adding a current addendum to my previous review....it seems that the aquarium has closed it's doors permanently....the marine life inside has been moved to Philadelphia and other places, so ignore the website and the facebook...this won't be a temporary closing...it is a great loss to the area and will be sorely missed..7/27/21...quaint tourist pass time.... A few fish and exhibits. Good place to stop by if you're on your way to parasailing or chartering a dolphin cruise.
Fantastic experience: Loved this aquarium! It was nice to have something different to go to on our Atlantic city vacation. The fish were beautiful, the place was clean and orderly, and there was a nice view from the top! :) plus we got some nice souvenirs!
Fantastic experience: Went on the Dolphin watching boat tour. 2 hrs long. If you want to see dolphins. This is your place. We had to have seen over 100 dolphins. Maybe we were just a bit lucky. But there were everywhere. Schools of them. Then as the boat speeded up they were swimming and jumping in the wake of the boat.
Positive experience: Very different feel to the part of Atlantic City that we all know and love. I have to say it has an old-style Village feel to it with a bit of Waterfront all I have to say is come down check it out see for yourself it's very relaxing and also can be very beautiful and very fun I think tear is enjoyment for all ages there are restrooms here as you can see there are restaurants also bars also fishing piers like I said something for everybody to come out and enjoy the Atlantic City Aquarium physically so here
Fantastic experience: Good place to relax listen to music and have some food and drinks. Its great to get away from the casino BS.
Fantastic experience: Small but full of sea life and you can hand feed stingrays ( hand feeding stingrays is the best like feeding water pupys!)
Fantastic experience: Situated on two floors, aquarium has to offer some interesting meetups with oceanic and tropical life. There's large parking area and third floor is used for observation deck. Worth a visit.
Fantastic experience: Such a cute aquarium. The parking is free and tickets are cheap. We had my son's birthday party here and it's was great!
Fantastic experience: This place is just awesome. This was my first experience where I actually got to touch the fishes. Also, I had not been to a place where they had such a wide variety of fishes. The entry fee is just $10. Overall fantastic..!!!
Positive experience: This is a cute little aquarium that's perfect for kids under ten. My son loved the petting stations and really liked the huge loggerhead turtle with all the big bass and sturgeon in the tank downstairs. If it was cheaper I'm sure more people would go, it was $26 for two adults and a child and it's hard to stay for more then two hours there. $21 for us would be in my opinion the most I should have spent.
Fantastic experience: Good place for kids. My 3 year old had fun. Killed about 1 hour here. 3 levels. First 2 have sea life and aquatic exhibits like stingrays, the 3rd floor is observation deck.
Positive experience: My son and I had a very nice time looking at all of the marine life at the aquarium. We even got to touch manta rays! The price was just right, too.
Positive experience: This is a little horse. First time that I saw one. The aquarium is small and there's not too much to do. You can touch little sharks, but I can see more animals in Cape May Zoo and free.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely loved it here. There were three touch tanks and we got to pet stingrays, sharks, starfish and more. It’s small but so fun!!
Fantastic experience: Very cool establishment overlooking the water. Lots of hands on! Kid friendly:)
Fantastic experience: This is the best aquarium yet. The kids and I loves the fact that there were petting exhibits. Super duper cool.
Fantastic experience: Always a pleasure! We took an Atlantic City Boat tour to Dolphin watch. It was great! We saw Dolphins and had a great time! Great tour and fun times! Then we had lunch at the Basin. Nice time with good food.
Fantastic experience: A lot of different types of exhibits as well as live shows. Place is very well priced for a great family outing.
Positive experience: It is nice aquarium but not much animals they need more.
Fantastic experience: Small intimate and gift shop was reasonable. The ability to touch some of the creatures was super cool!
Fantastic experience: I recomend anyone to go check out the aquarium in AC. Its a awesome place to bring the family.
Fantastic experience: A marvelous little gem of a local aquarium. Great place to take kids. Surrounded by outstanding ocean views. Could have spent an afternoon on the observation deck.
Negative experience: This is definitely for little kids. I have never been to an aquarium but i really felt like i was in a really big fish store. It was nice but i wouldn't even bring the kids unless they're maybe under 9 or 10 yrs old. Very small. You would have to be a very young child to enjoy this experience.
Negative experience: Feels like a personal corrector's exhibitions. Dissapointrd how they displayed-water was dirty.. The price was $10 for adult but it wasn't worth it somehow.. It's more negativr to kids feeling non-guilty to bother the sea creature's rest time. And how do they display that dead animal skin to let kids touch it? Very surprised..
Fantastic experience: This was my first time to an aquarium. It was awesome seeing all the different fish up close. There were three floors with many different habitats. Small little activities for the kids and events. I was here with my family and the kids loved it. It was a nice day as well. I look forward to going back and visiting other aquarium to compare. So far I recommend to visit if you're here in Atlantic city for vacation. It took me a few year to finally make a stop. I'm glad I did.
Negative experience: I was little confused between 2 and 3 stars. The reason is that for the $10 price, the place is too small and you will find that the aquarium ends even before it starts properly. The top floor practically has nothing but an open balcony. The second floor has some "touch" species and some snakes and frogs. The first floor has some big tanks but that's it. As compared to many national and international aquarium and with a scale of $10, I finally settled for 2 stars. If you have never been to an aquarium then I wouldn't stop you from going here.
Positive experience: Is very tiny, nothing extreme here... cute place to take the little ones and maybe have a picnic outside afterwards. Nice views to the beach, you can see everything in less than 30 min. Make sure to get your coupon for a dollar off your admission. Just Google acaquariumcoupon.
Positive experience: Quaint aquarium that's definitely on the small scale. For the $10 admission fee, it's worth a visit but can get old rather quickly as there are a very limited amount of animals/displays. It's a hexagonal/octagonal? building. There 3 floors; floors 1 & 2 house animals & exhibits. Floor 3 has activities for kids & a great outdoor deck. The register at the entrance also functions as the gift shop. To their credit, they weren't kidding about the amount of animal interactions! Tropical sharks, 2 horseshoe crab touch tanks & interactive animal shows on the 1st floor. 2 stingray touch tanks along with a pelt wall on the 2nd floor. The AC aquarium appears great for young kids & is worth the $10 as an adult, but is quite small. You will definitely see all the exhibits in 1 hr or 2 hrs tops even at a leisurely pace.
