🗣️ Cox Science Center and Aquarium: Reviews
Negative experience: Utterly crammed - like sardines in the smallest can possible. Do not visit if you wish to actually peruse the center - it is in essence the slowest moving line per interactive object possible. You’d have far better luck visiting almost any other science museum in the area.
Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear your visit didn’t meet expectations. Our team is aware that peak times can feel especially crowded, particularly as we’re in the midst of a major expansion to grow and improve the guest experience. While we know that wait times at popular exhibits can be frustrating, we’re working behind the scenes to ease congestion and offer more space and hands-on opportunities in the near future. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts—it helps us do better.
Negative experience: My advice during the summer not to come before 12:00pm or 1:00pm. Packed with camp groups from the area in the morning. The planetarium shows are nice and the aquariums. Snow cones and food truck workers friendly. One lady at the front desk was really helpful but don't remember her name. Too crowded for me with the camps, I left earlier than I expected.
Thank you for visiting and for sharing both the highlights and challenges of your experience. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the planetarium, aquariums, and friendly service from our team and food vendors—that means a lot to us. You’re absolutely right that summer mornings can be extra busy with local camp groups. We appreciate you pointing that out, and we always recommend mid-day or afternoon visits for those looking for a more relaxed experience during camp season. We’re currently expanding to bring even more space and exhibits to future guests, and feedback like yours helps guide how we manage crowds and scheduling in the meantime.
Negative experience: Not worth the trip, we come all the way from Broward and is an hour drive. You go through the museum in 15mins. Huge disappointment for us and also is expensive. Save the money and go to the science museum in Miami. Not even the kids are able to see the Trex outside because everything is under construction.
We’re truly sorry to hear your visit didn’t live up to expectations, especially after making the drive from Broward. We understand how disappointing it can be when an experience doesn’t match the excitement or effort to get there—especially with little ones in tow. We’re currently undergoing a major expansion to bring a larger, more immersive Science Center to our community. While that means some areas are temporarily affected, including our outdoor dinosaur space, we know that’s no comfort when you were hoping for a full visit now. We appreciate your honest feedback—it helps us as we work to improve the guest experience even during construction. We hope you’ll consider visiting again once our new spaces open and the full vision comes to life.
Negative experience: Straight trash. There's more fish at PetCo and it doesn't cost you $100 for 2 adults 2 kids. This is no more than a money grab.
We’re sorry to hear you felt this way about your visit. While we understand not every experience is for everyone, our goal is to provide hands-on science, learning, and inspiration for guests of all ages—not just exhibits, but access to planetarium shows, live demos, aquarium care, and programming that supports our mission. Our admission supports not only daily operations but also school programs, conservation efforts, and an ongoing expansion to bring even more value to families like yours. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts and will continue working to ensure every guest leaves feeling it was worth their time
Fantastic experience: The Nature Center in Delray, Florida, is such a fun spot where ocean life meets prehistoric adventure! It's a great place to explore with the family and learn something new along the way. You’ll find it both exciting and educational, all wrapped up in one sunny Florida outing.
Fantastic experience: Everything they have is meant for young kids. Went there with 6yr w/ASD. I liked that it wasn't as stimulating as some other kids museums. 6yr old found many things that peaked their interest. Spent about an hour and a half there. They have some construction going on so parking was a little far out, but generally, a good place to spend a couple hours.
Fantastic experience: It was my first time here and I loved it! My kids did as well! They have a splash pad outside and a little science trail, they also have picnic tables, and a couple vending machines. I really liked the toddler play area they have towards the back my 6 month old was able to crawl around and my 2 year old was able to play also. I also had my 9 year old niece with me and she really enjoyed herself. We did one of the planetarium shows too which was really cool! I think it was called the stars under west palm beach. It seems to be something for all age groups and I really like that! The 4 employees I encountered were very friendly and personable. I will definitely go back!
Positive experience: Lots of fun things to do. Friday and weekends you can pet the little alligators.
Negative experience: Annual membership doubled in price this year- AND - it’s under construction - so more money for worse and less of an experience. Kids liked it but it was very dated and multiple issues - that was before it was under construct - very limited partnerships. For the old price worth it. For the new especially while under construction - not. Right now 70% unavailble - Shameful greed and mismanagement
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We completely understand how the changes this year, especially during construction, can feel frustrating. Our expansion is a major transformation that will double the size of our Science Center and bring world-class exhibits, upgraded amenities, and even more hands-on experiences for families. That said, we know it's a big ask to be patient while that vision comes to life. We’ve introduced new features like Engineers on a Roll, special traveling exhibits, and new community partnerships, all while maintaining discounted reciprocal admission through programs like ASTC and Swaptember with the zoo. We're doing our best to provide exciting value during this transition, and member support directly fuels the improvements ahead. We genuinely hope you’ll continue to give us feedback—and visit again to see what’s new. There’s a lot more in store, and we’d love to share it with you.
Fantastic experience: Great exhibits, newly renovated splash pad, and tons to check out for my toddlers.
Positive experience: The science museum is well-suited for the younger kids but I'm so happy to see they are expanding the museum! The planetarium was a fun treat for me and my 14-year-old grandson.
Positive experience: This place was such a blast, we had the best time! It’s perfect for kids or even just the young at heart, with tons of hands-on fun and learning. From the awesome aquariums to the cool science exhibits and that fun dinosaur section, we’re already planning our next visit!
Positive experience: Very nice and entertaining place, however the food truck person not really customer service oriented, rude to be honest! But thats your only option if you didnt bring food! So bring your own food or snacks! No need to take attitude from someone who acts like he is giving you food for free! ( expensive food).
Hello Mireya, I apologize for your experience with the food truck. Can you email us directly at [email protected]? We would like to learn more about your experience. Best, Stephanie Deach Marketing Director
Negative experience: We went recently for a day pass with expectations that we could apply to summer pass if we were going to stay in town… they told me we would be honored if I called back. Wrong!!! They will not honor it towards the summer pass. Very unfortunate because I had all 3 kids with me that day, and limited time to complete more forms. Not cool verrrryy disappointed in hearing One thing and learning another when I went to purchase the summer pass.
Hello Ashley, I apologize that this happened. Can you email us directly at [email protected]? We would like to learn more about your experience. Best, Stephanie Deach Marketing Director
Positive experience: Nice place for kids. I guess the best age would be 5-8. There is an expansion in progress so it looks a mess. However it is temporary, should be great in 2027. We’ll definitely get back then.
Positive experience: I take my toddlers to the Cox Science Center weekly and they always have a good time. The center is currently going through a huge rebuild (which is very exciting) so a lot is changing at once. The center has a little kids room which is great for letting small children run around. The outside area has a splash pad and a giant sand pit to dig along with an underwater animal exhibit. The aquarium is quite small but still enjoyable. I feel this science center is more for little kids than adults. Currently, due to the construction going on it is hard to find a parking spot so be prepared to drive in circles until you find one. I have a membership and get alot of use out of it but I do feel the price for a 1 day admission is steep. Overall, this is a fun center for a family to visit.
Fantastic experience: Great place to learn and have fun for kids and entire families. I highly recomend to visit.
Fantastic experience: There is always something new to see or learn at the Science Center. We are so excited about the additions coming. Staff and volunteers are most welcoming and knowledgeable.
Fantastic experience: This place is open during its renovations, which is happening at this time. The staff is extremely helpful. We took our 4 year old granddaughter and she has a lot of fun. She didn't want to leave. It's a great place to let her touch and explore everything. It was really cool for the adults, too. Very educational and entertaining for the whole family.
Fantastic experience: The Nature Center in Delray is such a fun mix of ocean life and dino adventure, perfect for a day out in sunny Florida. The aquarium is packed with colorful tropical fish that really show off the beauty of coral reef ecosystems. One of the coolest parts is the animatronic dinosaur exhibit, it’s like stepping back in time! You can stroll through, learn about the different dinos and their habitats, and even catch a little roar or two. It’s a great spot for families or anyone looking to enjoy nature with a twist of prehistoric flair!
Negative experience: Overpriced. Definitely just for kids. Very small. Didn't see laser light show but I don't think you can mess that up. But the aquarium and science center even with kids would last about 20 min. Waste of money
We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. While our experience is especially popular with families, we do offer additional programming like laser light shows and seasonal exhibits that many guests enjoy. We're always working to improve and hope future visits offer more of what you're looking for.
Fantastic experience: The fish were beautiful and I loved the Planetarium and there were so many interactive activities. There was a field trip for a school that day so the place was full of life
Fantastic experience: We absolutely had a blast here! It’s perfect for kids or anyone young at heart, lots of hands-on fun and learning. The aquariums were beautiful, the science exhibits were super cool, and the dinosaur display was a big hit, we’ll definitely be back!
Negative experience: This review is for the Mesmerica 360 West Palm Beach, A bit disappointed I saw the show in West Palm Beach on Mother's Day the room was small and the seats were horrible, if you have back problems like me or neck problems its very uncomfortable. The show was ok I thought it was going to be better, like they show on the ads on Facebook or YouTube. Sorry won't do it again my opinion. All it is, is a small projector showing different designs I could have watched it on YouTube for free. My 19 yrs son said it was weird and boring. But he enjoyed the fish he liked it more than the show I paid for. VIP is a waste of money
Thank you for your honest feedback. While the Mesmerica 360 experience is a traveling show that rents our dome space and is not produced by us, we’re sorry to hear it didn’t meet your expectations—especially on a special day like Mother’s Day. We'll be sure to pass your comments along to the event organizers. That said, we're glad to hear your son enjoyed our aquarium! We hope you'll consider visiting again to explore more of what the Science Center has to offer.
Positive experience: Lots of updates since our visit last year. Construction site has taken over the front before the entrance so it's a little walk after parking. Don't forget swim suits for outdoor water spot or at least change of clothes because little ones are going to want to get cooled down. Limited seating (a bench or two) around the play areas inside, would've been nice to have more benches for adults to relax while kids play, especially near airplane and foam play areas. Summer deal going on now but you will need to pay $5/per person to go inside the planetarium theater unless you purchase full membership pass. Don't forget to get tickets at front desk before heading to the theater.
Positive experience: We got there around noon time last Saturday. The place is not as big as I thought, but my girls enjoyed the aquarium and the interactive games. The outdoor area was really cool. Since there is a planetarium onsite, we decided to check it out. We asked which show was the best and was told if this was your first time, then the Palm Beach sky. Well, it was informative (it was 30 to 40 minutes of constellations and a team member narrating), which is SUPER BORING for 4 and 6 years old and not worth it, in my opinion. Also, they should advise families with babies or toddlers not to waste their money on the planetarium as they require total silence, and you may be asked to step out without being able to access planetarium again.
Fantastic experience: Such a wonderful and mind-bending experience. So grateful that I was able to take a friend for her Mother's Day, to provide her something "out of the ordinary". I'll admit, we were a bit late by a few minutes, but the staff was kind and accommodated us. It's amazing what only 45 minutes can do to open one's mind and soul. Very grateful for this opportunity and awesome experience
Fantastic experience: Went for the light show: a nice surprise: an aquarium inside! To the "honor" of this place ... A construction ️ around, everything is in "green you can't see through" barriers, was ... Pretty unexpected a pic with a dinosaur: it's NOT a lawn behind!!!
Negative experience: First off the fish are beautiful. The science center is great. my kids enjoyed their self. the staff is rude as hell and they yelled at me for not going the right way when none of them give directions to anything. Only nice face wash the man with curly hair at the front desk. And the price should be 10 bucks a person max. Will never go back.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're so glad to hear that you and your kids enjoyed the fish and exhibits—it means a lot to us that the science center made a positive impression in that way. That said, we're very sorry to hear about your experience with our staff. We strive to create a welcoming environment for all our guests, and it's clear we fell short during your visit. Your comments are being shared with our team so we can address this directly and improve our communication and signage throughout the center. We truly appreciate the shoutout to our front desk staff member with curly hair—we’ll be sure to pass along your kind words. While we understand you may not plan to return, we’d love the chance to make things right should you reconsider in the future.
Positive experience: The interactive science portion was fun. We had tickets to an event at the planetarium. The technology of the facility is outdated, resulting in lower quality visuals, sound, experience. It was a nice time, but the show was nothing like the rave reviews it’s received in other states. I think it’s because of the dated facility.
Fantastic experience: Nature Center in Delray, Florida, is a delightful destination that combines the wonders of the ocean with the thrill of prehistoric times. The aquarium is its stunning array of tropical fish. Brightly colored and diverse, these fish provide a mesmerizing glimpse into the vibrant ecosystems of coral reefs. The center has an exciting exhibit of animatronic dinosaur replicas. Walking through the exhibit, visitors can learn about the different species, their habitats, and the evolutionary paths of these magnificent beasts. Enjoy!
Fantastic experience: Beautiful place to take kids. Definitely some cool science stuff I more of went to for the aquarium Also veterans are not free unfortunately but they get a good discount
Positive experience: My wife and I went there taking advantage of their"Silver Science" program, which allowed seniors entry for only $15 each. A nice (though smallish) aquarium area, and a very nice special (temporary) exhibit featuring life-sized animated dinosaur models. It also (as part of the Silver Science program) featured a very informative lecture by a local archeologist, and a complimentary admission to their planetarium. There were also MANY, MANY interactive exhibits catering to all ages, from toddlers through adults. They also have a very nice gift shop with many :Sciencey" items to purchase. There is a major expansion going on, as well, which should more than double its existing size. A bit pricey, but we'll worth it.
Fantastic experience: I honestly thought it was really fun, and if you have the time, I'd suggest checking out the planetarium!
Fantastic experience: Fun and interesting for the kids. The aquarium section is cool. This is something different to take the kids to enjoy. We have gone many times in the past and the kids still enjoy it. We actually went to the Mesmerica show, that was just ok, almost put me to sleep twice and guy in front of us was snoring. Again, something different to do.
Positive experience: Very nice place. With a whole lot of potential. The only complaints here are the fact that they don't have any comfortable seating areas for the parents that want to sit down and hang out while the little ones play. Also they don't have a coffee shop or any type of food drinks available except a vending machine. With so much tables to eat surprised you need to bring your own snacks to enjoy. The activities is good because they have things for all ages and alot of time can be spend. 2 hours at least to do the whole place throughly .
Positive experience: Really cute place. Awesome adventure for the kids. But parking needs to be organized. Trolly to & from overflow, signs need to be clearly posted etc. Clear instructions to the overflow. Even free/paid for valet parking would be a better solution. The majority of people that visit come with small kids, asking them to hike to an off campus site can be a big ask. I shouldn't have to ask at the entrance about parking to prevent my car from getting towed. Also, try telling your truck vendor to park inside the grass circle, it would allow for a few more parking spaces. Include the price of the planetarium in the price of admission. Your ticket counter didn't even mention that.
Negative experience: There is no food or cafeteria for families at this location. You either have to hope they have a food truck outside or go away and come back for lunch. if you’re with small children plan ahead or go somewhere else! The planetarium show is from the 90s and very old not worth the $.
Thank you for your feedback—we truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We're sorry to hear the visit didn’t meet expectations. While we don’t currently have a full-service café on-site due to our ongoing expansion, we do often have rotating food trucks available and always encourage families to bring their own snacks or picnic-style lunches, which can be enjoyed in our outdoor areas. We understand how important convenient food options are, especially with little ones, and this is definitely something we're looking to improve as part of our future plans. As for the planetarium, we're in the process of upgrading several experiences across the center—including new shows and technology updates. In the meantime, we’re always happy to recommend the most up-to-date showtimes and offerings at the front desk to ensure your family gets the best experience possible. We’d love the chance to welcome you back in the future—there’s so much more on the horizon, and we’re excited for what’s to come!
Fantastic experience: Me and my kids love this place ,it was so nice Thursday the weather was amazingly sunny but the wind was blowing, I like the fact there putting more things to see. Price is amazing good
Positive experience: Great for smaller kids. It's a small place, you only need a few hours to see everything. The planetarium is an extra $5/per person. The museum of Discovery and Science in Fort Lauderdale is much better
Negative experience: Been going here since I was 5, this place literally has gone down so bad! It was doing fine during the titanic era, but came back after a year and a half with my boyfriend and the golf course is gone, the other room was gone. Same junk since I was born. It’s boring, how can I be a member when it’s never changing. $26.00 is expensive too. Only good part is the aquarium. Also staff somewhat rude.
Thank you so much for sharing your honest thoughts—and for being a longtime visitor. We truly value guests like you who have grown up with us and care enough to speak up. You're absolutely right that there have been some big changes. We’re currently in the middle of a major expansion project that’s reshaping the entire Science Center—including new exhibits, more immersive experiences, and yes, some farewells to older favorites like the mini golf course. We know transitions like this can feel disappointing in the short term, but we’re genuinely excited about what’s coming and hope you’ll give it a chance once it’s complete. We’re also sorry to hear your recent experience with staff didn’t feel welcoming—that’s something we take seriously and will address with our team. In the meantime, we’re doing our best to keep things engaging with traveling exhibits, upgraded spaces like our aquarium, and special events throughout the year. If you ever want to chat more or share suggestions, we’re always open. We’d love the opportunity to earn your visit back. Big things are on the way!
Fantastic experience: I had the best experience at the Cox Science Museum celebrating my son's birthday! The whole family went, and we spent over 4 hours enjoying the amazing exhibits and activities. I can't wait to go back. A special thank you to Christian for making our experience over the top – we can't thank you enough! Definitely a place I recommend for a fun family day.
Fantastic experience: We just hosted my son’s 2nd birthday party here, and it was EXCELLENT! The staff did an amazing job with set-up and decor, and the kids and parents really enjoyed it.
Negative experience: Paid for multiple full priced tickets on their website, and when I get to the place with my daughter and her mother, the whole outside play area is closed off except for picnic tables. Which is not mentioned at all on the website. For the price they are charging there isnt much to do. Some are the same exhibits they had as I was a kid over 28 years ago. There is also an apparently known issue with the emailed barcodes when purchasing online to scan at the entrance.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience—we completely understand how frustrating it must have been, especially when visiting with family. We sincerely apologize for the lack of notice about the outdoor play area closure. We're currently undergoing an exciting expansion that will bring a lot of new and improved experiences, but we absolutely should have communicated that more clearly on the website. Your feedback is incredibly helpful, and we’re working to make sure that kind of information is visible and up-to-date for future guests. Regarding the barcode issue, thank you for flagging that—we're actively working with our ticketing provider to resolve it. In the meantime, our front desk is always ready to assist if scanning problems occur at check-in, but we understand it can still be inconvenient. We truly value long-time visitors like you, and we’re committed to making your next visit a better one.
Fantastic experience: The kids had an amazing time. They loved the dinosaurs and the aquarium the most. Would recommend for all ages.
Fantastic experience: Loved coming here with my kids and family. A little fun for all. The shows are a must watch. The dome projection was awesome!
Fantastic experience: This place is legendary. It is everything you ever wanted in a museum. The exhibits great The planetarium great And a shout out to the guy that use to run the laser light shows on the weekend. You gave us the best trips of our young lives . You put up with us and made our experience so freaking good and will remember and have remembered for all our lives . You will be up there in years now . Cause we are now to . This place builds memories folks . Thank you
Positive experience: It was a nice place to explore with the kids. Great for 5 years olds. Small but fun. You can do it all in about 2-3 hours.
Negative experience: The place was ok, but upon arrival the staff in the front ticketing desk was awful bad customer experience and service, targeting, and their prices banner was fraudulent providing incorrect pricing list, more of a scam. I have a 4 and 2 year old at the time and when they asked the ages they charged my for my 2 year old but their banner and online says 3-12 kids ticket. scammer beware when visiting.
We appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear about your experience. Our ticket pricing is clearly stated online and on-site, with children under 3 receiving free admission. We will review our signage and staff training to ensure consistency in communication. We strive to provide a welcoming and transparent experience for all our guests, and we regret that this was not reflected in your visit.
Negative experience: My son's school went here for a field trip and abruptly were told to leave (30 minutes early). 6 year old were told to wait outside until the buses arrived, out in the hot sun, and approximately 30 minutes. My wife chaperoned the trip and was appalled when the security guard hovered over the teacher's assistant (5 foot tall female) and kept saying "you need to leave". The assistant stated we are waiting on our group. Another female staff member said "You need to wait outside". Again my wife said "We are waiting on our group. She stated "You can wait outside" My wife said "I am not taking these children (that she does not even know their names) anywhere until their teacher returns. The teacher returned less than one minute later with the cooler and the 5 students who needed to retrieve their lunch boxes. The female staff member made a passive aggressive comment saying "Wow! She didn't want to listen to a staff member". This upset my wife because SHE is a teacher, but was NOT their teacher. She was ONLY a chaperone. As a teacher, she knows you do not take other people's children ANYWHERE without the teachers consent/knowledge. As they exited somebody finally spoke to my son's teacher, the one who organized the trip, and said it wasn't your group. Well then why were they so rude and insistent that his group "needed to leave"? What rule/procedure was broken. The chatter is that it was an issue with an adult. So why kick the kids out abruptly? My wife called today to talk to the director, but he "WASN'T AVAILABLE TO TALK" even though it was during business hours, so here I am. Here are my questions... What is the limit on the number of students for a field trip to ensure everyone's safety? Does the number differ if you have children with disabilities? Why were there multiple schools with over 150 children there for field trip alone? Why were the children abruptly kicked out without a reason given and made to wait in the hot sun for their buses to arrive? What is the policy/procedure for terminating a field trip? If it was an adult, why punish the kids? Why not ask the adult to leave? If it was a small group of students, why not give them a time out, or ask them to wait outside in the shade for their bus? Why was the teacher/point person who organized the trip NOT notified until AFTER everyone was kicked out? Why were these children treated as if they did something wrong, when they didn't? Why were they told they NEEDED TO LEAVE, but no care or concern was given to make sure all kids were safely accounted for before exiting the building? Why did they say "It wasn't your group" like it was supposed to make it better? Will I get a response now?
Positive experience: The museum appears to be great for children, but leaves adults wanting more. There are several children's activities to keep them engaged, and the museums small size makes it easy to navigate, but everything feels dated. We saw the entire museum in an hour. We enjoyed the aquariums, but often found the signs do not comprehensively correlate.
Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the aquariums and found the center easy to navigate. We’re always working on new exhibits and improvements to enhance the experience for all visitors. Your input on signage and updates is appreciated, and we’ll take it into consideration as we continue to grow. We hope you’ll visit again to see what’s new!
Negative experience: Our daughter’s school field trip to Cox Science Center was a huge disappointment. There was no schedule or organization, leaving the kids and teachers confused about where to go or what to do. The staff was rude and unhelpful—especially the manager, who seemed completely indifferent to our concerns. To make matters worse, they wouldn’t even let us see the aquarium area, which was one of the main attractions we were looking forward to. A science center should be an engaging and educational experience, but this visit was anything but. Definitely wouldn’t recommend for school trips!
Positive experience: It's cute to take little ones for learning and visual stimulation. Thought the location would be bigger in space but overall was fun.
Negative experience: For the price to get in and it only taking us 15 min to go through it, it was definitely not worth the drive which took us longer to get there and back let alone the $26 per adult and $20 for the kids. Very disappointed.
I'm sorry to hear that your visit didn't meet expectations. We strive to provide a fun, engaging experience for all our guests, and we appreciate your feedback. While the time spent can vary for each visitor, we offer a variety of hands-on exhibits, live demonstrations, and interactive experiences designed to encourage exploration. We’re always looking for ways to enhance our offerings, and we'd love to hear more about what you were hoping to see. If you’re open to it, we’d be happy to discuss ways to make a future visit more enjoyable, including upcoming exhibits and special events that might be of interest to your family. Please feel free to reach out to us directly!
Fantastic experience: Excellent visit with lots to see and do. Part of the reciprocal program with Museum of Science Boston so was a great additional visit whilst in USA.
Fantastic experience: Excellent place for an entire family to go have some fun, or even an individual. When I visited this place makes me miss when my kids were little.
Positive experience: Wish I would have known the water pad was broke before paying. The little guy was in his swimsuit as well. So I don't know how the staffer missed that. We do enjoy going there but try to have a membership or make it a special occasion, just because of the cost. The shows are also going to cost more. It is very hot in outside area. But a fun 3 hours for family. Very clean facility. Strollers are annoying. No where for them to go. Bring a back pack. Displays are great & interactive.
Fantastic experience: Very cute little science center. In case relevant, No nursing rooms but they will let you use a room if you ask the front.
Positive experience: Kind staff. Interactive for the kids to learn about science. Had a hurricane experience machine. And a dome style educational movie room. This location is a little out dated, but they are having construction to expand.
Fantastic experience: Great experience. Fun for little kids. Plenty of hands on stations for the kids. The aquarium portion of the museum was small but, still fun. Outdoor play area was fun and they have a splash pad area for the warm days.
Fantastic experience: Went on a Thursday. It was busy with some school field trips but, the wait time for the hands on stations weren’t long. Lots of fun for kids, fun outdoor play area for kids. Splash pad area for the warm days too.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely loved this place!! Highly recommend to anyone with kids or kids spirit! We enjoyed ourselves very much interacting with stuff and learning things. Beautiful aquariums. Neat science projects to interact with. Really neat dinosaur exhibit. We will definitely be going back!
Positive experience: Underwhelming at best. Fine place for small children but the ticket cost is WAY too high for what is offered ! Almost 100 for two adults and 2 young children. The parking construction and closed areas of the science center ( lack of) should be mentioned on the website. We asked a front desk employee about the science show that was supposed to begin in the auditorium at noon because there was a sign on the door that said “no entry” and “ private event”. The employee said she didn’t know if there would be a show… evidently there wasn’t. My grandkids had fun but compared to other science centers like in St Louis or other cities this one was not worth the huge ticket price.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear your visit didn’t meet your expectations and truly appreciate your insights. Fantastic experience: Love this museum. I became a member because I'm there 2 or 3 times a month. Great exhibits that are interesting for kids and adults.
Fantastic experience: The dinosaur exhibit was a hit. The fun play room for the kids - a hit! The outdoor space for the kids to run around and have a snack, so great! Will for sure be back, especially since they are developing it for 2027.
Fantastic experience: We stumbled upon this museum, and we're so happy we did! There are tons of fun, hands-on activities for everyone, no matter their age. My daughter and son absolutely loved the aquarium, and I have to say, the tanks are super clean and filled with amazing animals! We had an amazing time exploring and playing together as a family.
Negative experience: Very small museum and aquarium, definitely geared toward little kids and a good venue for a kindergarten-3rd grade field trip. We went through the whole museum in an hour, not worth the high ticket price. Very disappointing.
Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear your visit didn’t meet your expectations. While we pride ourselves on being a family-friendly destination, we understand that some of our exhibits may feel more geared toward younger children. Currently, we’re undergoing a major expansion to bring larger and more diverse exhibits, with exciting opportunities for all ages to explore and enjoy. This transformation is part of our commitment to enhancing the experience for our visitors, and we appreciate your patience during this process. We value your input and will continue working to ensure we provide engaging experiences that justify the cost of admission. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and we hope you’ll visit us again in the future to experience the changes firsthand!
Fantastic experience: It’s a great place for the kids to play and explore. I’ve had 2 years of the family yearly pass and come often with my kids. I’m glad my kids still look forward to this museum all the time. It’s clean and well kept. Has a large outdoor area with a splash pad. Has some tight spots inside and a lot going on, in certain parts of the museum for the little sensory ones. It can get pretty busy on the weekends. I guess like all museums. The aquarium is small but pretty neat and I love how the museum is always changing up their scenes and rooms So you don’t get tired of the same thing over and over. There is an officer at the entrance I guess it may make you and the kids feel a bit safe ♀️. But it’s a cool place for kids 1/2 and older. The location of the museum has its pro&cons. It’s close to the Zoo and park it’s a pro and cons sometimes the parking may be shared my the Zoo visitors so you may have a hard time finding parking, or may need to the on the grass.
Positive experience: Have a membership from a museum near me. Very small but interesting museum. Half of it is no accessible because of renovations but still the same price so it does seem over priced but still a fun experience. Very good for kids
Thank you for visiting and for sharing your feedback! We’re glad to hear you found the museum fun and engaging, especially for kids. We understand your concerns about pricing during our ongoing renovations, and we sincerely appreciate your support as we work to expand and enhance our space. The changes we’re making will bring exciting new exhibits and experiences, and we’re committed to creating a destination that’s worth every visit. In the meantime, we’re focused on making the experience as enjoyable as possible, even with limited space. We hope you’ll come back once the renovations are complete to see all the improvements firsthand. Thank you for your understanding and for being part of our journey!
Positive experience: Use your wic card and get in for $3! My 3 year old loved the dinosaur exhibit. The aquarium section is small but has very interesting fish and sea animals. The ball factory and permanent installations were all very interactive. Nice outdoor area with bubbles and music making stations. Clean bathrooms.
Fantastic experience: The soft play area, the outdoor area and the ball and bucket activity were our daughter's favorites. The dinosaurs were neat as well! It was not crowded when we went and we ended up spending almost 2 hours here.
Positive experience: We got there right when it opened on a rainy day and it was packed. It took us 20+ min to get in. But honestly it probably needs to take that long or it would be impossible to move in there. My 17 month old had fun. It was a nice thing to do on a rainy day to occupy him for a couple hours
Negative experience: Overpriced for what it is. Basically only 3 exhibit spaces and an underwhelming outdoor area. Dated exhibits. Terrible ticketing/entrance system—you can buy tickets online, but have to stand in the same line as those buying tickets at the door. You also have to go back and stand in line all over again in you want a ticket to the planetarium show.
Thank you for your honest feedback. We’re sorry to hear your experience didn’t meet your expectations and appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. While we’re currently undergoing renovations to expand and improve our offerings, we understand how the current layout and limited space can feel underwhelming. Your comments about our ticketing system are especially helpful, and we’ll be reviewing ways to streamline this process to make it more convenient for our guests. We’re also working to modernize our exhibits and outdoor areas as part of our ongoing improvements. We value your input and hope you’ll consider visiting again in the future to experience the exciting changes we have planned. Thank you for letting us know how we can do better!
Negative experience: My family and I were extremely disappointed with this museum, it’s outdated, no thought or innovation put into it. Really boring, it’s mediocre and we felt like it was the worst money we had ever spent as a family. It needs major investment, innovation and remodeling. I do not recommend it and do not plan on returning.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience was disappointing and didn’t meet your expectations. Your comments about the need for innovation and updates resonate with us, and we want you to know that we’re actively addressing these concerns. We’re currently undergoing a significant expansion and renovation project to bring new, engaging, and innovative experiences to our museum. This investment will allow us to modernize our exhibits and create a space that excites and inspires families of all ages. We understand that this doesn’t change your recent visit, but we hope it demonstrates our commitment to improvement. We appreciate your honesty and hope you might consider giving us another chance once our upgrades are complete. Thank you for your feedback—it helps us grow and evolve as we strive to provide the best possible experience for our guests.
Negative experience: My family and I were visiting family from out of state, and my children love aquariums especially since we don't live near the ocean, being able to see salt water fish was especially intriguing. Unfortunately our visit was incredibly underwhelming. As and aside, I have no problem paying a higher price for tickets that help support S.T.E.M and education. However upon entering the Aquarium and Science Center, I was shocked that for my family of 6 ( 2 adults, two older teens and two younger children) that tickets were nearly 150.00, I asked the person at the desk if there were any student discounts and she said only if you have an A in science and have your report card on you. I mentioned my daughter who was a sophomore in college and majoring in Environmental Science had a A in science have could have proven it, but since we didn't have her report card it didn't matter. It was even more disappointing to read other reviews, that many other exhibitions and offerings such as mini golf weren't even available. I do hope the expansion that the science center is currently undergoing is a success, as places that emphasize Science and Nature are crucial. However considering the current offerings, perhaps the entrance fee could have been lessed or at least the website updated to say what exhibits were not available, as my family would have saved a visit for another time and not spent so much money on a 20 minute walk through.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We deeply regret that your visit did not meet your expectations and that you left feeling disappointed. We truly value feedback like yours, as it helps us identify areas where we can improve. We understand your concerns about pricing, especially given the limited offerings during our expansion. While the funds from admissions help support our STEM initiatives and expansion efforts, we recognize that clearer communication about what is currently available is essential. We’ll be working to ensure our website and team provide accurate, up-to-date information to help families make informed decisions about their visit. Regarding the student discount policy, we apologize for the rigidity you experienced. Your daughter’s achievements in Environmental Science are commendable, and we will revisit this policy to ensure it feels fair and inclusive for all students. We appreciate your understanding as we work through this exciting but challenging transition. Our expansion is aimed at providing a more robust and engaging experience for all ages, and we hope you’ll consider giving us another chance to impress you in the future. Thank you for your thoughtful feedback and for supporting science and education.
Negative experience: It was expensive for what they have to offer. $39 military for both of us. A quick walk through a small dino safari and a small aquarium. Unless you have 5 year old ish kids I'd avoid this completely. Had a cool laser show but it was an additional $5 a person .
Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you felt the experience didn’t match the price, and we truly appreciate you sharing your thoughts. We understand that our current offerings, including the Dino Safari and aquarium, may feel more suited to younger children. As we’re in the process of expanding and improving our exhibits, we’re working to provide a wider range of engaging experiences for visitors of all ages. We’ll also take a closer look at how we present additional costs, such as the laser show, to ensure guests feel the value is clear. We appreciate your service and support and hope you’ll consider returning in the future to experience the exciting new features we have planned. Thank you again for your valuable input!
Positive experience: It's a pretty sweet place, has good themes from time to time. It has a backyard area which is cool. The aquarium is adequate. Overall not bad just expecting more and half of it is kinda lame. I'll go back not totally hating my daughters have fun they just need to step it up. Let's start doing real science not just balls rolling down hill explaining gravity..
Negative experience: The center is very clean, neat and orderly. The staff is super helpful and readily available to assist. The current center is very small and can be viewed in less than 30 minutes. Most of the exhibits are props and plastic models for viewing. The center has several stem stations for touch and play for all ages. The $5 planetarium show was a complete waste of time and money. The holiday show is repetitive lines and Xmas music; while the Dinosaur Alive program is a poorly cropped palientologist documentary about the discovery of dinosaur bones created in 2007. There are several fish tanks in the facility for viewing but certainly too small to consider the location an aquarium. If you have $29.95 and free for 30 minutes this is your spot!
Thank you for visiting the Cox Science Center and for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We're thrilled to hear that you found our facility clean, orderly, and appreciated the helpfulness of our staff – they work hard to make every visit enjoyable! We are sorry to hear that some aspects of your visit fell short of expectations. As a growing science center, we’re constantly working to expand our offerings and improve the guest experience. In fact, we’re currently undergoing a major expansion to double our size and bring in exciting new exhibits that will further inspire curiosity and innovation. Regarding the planetarium show and our featured programs, we value your input and will share your comments with our team to ensure we’re providing the highest quality content possible. We truly appreciate your feedback as it helps us grow and improve. We hope you’ll consider visiting again once our expansion is complete—exciting things are on the horizon, and we’d love the opportunity to make your next experience exceptional!
Positive experience: You may find this a little pricey for the experience. However, I attended the indoor theater for a quick nap. Oh, I mean education on the theory of aquatic dinosaurs. Other parts of the museum I liked were the pieces of asteroids, rocks from the Moon and Mars, some of the education on magnetism, spacial puzzles, and weather. They have a small aquarium as well. Overall, this is a kids museum, and I would recommend it if you have school aged children.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic experience for my 2 and 6 year old. Lots of fun experiences and exhibits. The Dinosaurs were amazing as was the aquarium. The kids also had fun rolling down a simple hill, playing in the sandbox, and playing with the musical exhibits. The panning for gems was neat and worth the extra cost. Staff were all friendly if a bit understandably a little tired. Make sure you plan to spend 3 to 4 hours there to get to visit everything. Some things cost a little extra. They have snacks and drinks for sale.
Positive experience: Went to the planetarium to see Mesmerica. The show was really good, but I wish the seats reclined more to better view the entire ceiling. ✨ We will be back to see more of the science center, etc next time!
Fantastic experience: The show Mesmerica was wonderful. My husband and I really enjoyed it.
Fantastic experience: What a nice little museum. Well kept and with tons of activities for the whole family. The planetarium show is a must!
Negative experience: I’m glad I could get inside for free because it isn’t worth even 1$ for an adult. A boring place with a couple of aquariums. You can see my pictures of what you are going to pay for. You can bring your kids here, it may be interesting for them, but not more.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear that your visit didn't meet your expectations. While we're constantly working to provide an engaging experience for all ages, we understand that interests can vary. We're excited to share that the Cox Science Center is currently undergoing a major expansion that will bring new, immersive exhibits and more interactive experiences for both kids and adults. We hope you'll consider visiting again once our expanded space is open—we're confident it will offer something for everyone!
Fantastic experience: Decent kids museum. Could use lots of revamping. I will say that the sea and wildlife section was great. One of the nicer ocean life displays I’ve seen with some interactive displays.
Fantastic experience: Amazing. My kids (14 and 2) adored every min. Parking was close and easy. Everything was stroller friendly. Great homeschool enrichment.
Negative experience: This place used to be amazing and Autism friendly, but I must say that after years of membership,I will not be renewing. The traveling exhibits have been super disappointing and redundant. Seriously, dinosaurs again? Plus, they have closed down almost half the museum because of the upgrades that aren't even coming until 2027! No brain exhibit,no water table, no mini golf! Plus, I have 2 children, one is 5 and the other is 11. They have always allowed my older son,who is on the spectrum, to play with his brother at the other exhibits. This has never been a problem, since he is actually wonderful with little children, and helps and will always stay out of the way if they are exploring. The last time we went, they told my older son he had to sit out while his brother did the new ball run, which by the way isn't even age appropriate for little ones because it's too complex. What nonsense! We will never go back, not even when they upgrade, because there is nothing for older children. It's like they want our kids to not be kids and just sit in front of their phones. Do better!
Thank you for your candid feedback, and I’m truly sorry to hear about your experience. We deeply value our members, and it's disheartening to know that we fell short of your expectations, especially with our inclusivity. We strive to make the Cox Science Center a place where all children, regardless of age or ability, can enjoy themselves and feel welcome, so we take this concern seriously and will review our practices with our staff. Regarding our exhibits, we understand your frustration about the temporary closures. As part of our major expansion, we are upgrading the museum to introduce more diverse and engaging experiences, including exhibits for all age groups. Our Dinosaur Safari exhibit, opening on October 14th, will have fresh new elements, but we are also working on adding a wider range of exhibits to appeal to older children and teens. While we know it’s challenging during construction, these updates are designed to make future visits more exciting for everyone. Your input is invaluable to us, and we hope to regain your trust in the future. Thank you for being a loyal member over the years, and we will work hard to make improvements that better serve all families.
Fantastic experience: Always enjoy the exhibits and atmosphere. Always very kind and always a good experience. Been going here for years now with my children as the get older. Today we came to experience the mesmerica by James hood.
Fantastic experience: This spot isn't solely for children. We spent an enjoyable afternoon here with friends. The aquarium left a positive impression on us. We indulged in mini-golf and thoroughly enjoyed the planetarium show. Even the dinosaur exhibit provided ample fun.
Positive experience: Interactive. The puzzles and hands-on activities are engaging for children and stimulate their cognitive development. While there were some broken items, the overall experience is still satisfactory for both children and adults.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful museum. Even though it is kid oriented my wife and I also enjoyed it a lot. So much to do especially for kids with sensory needs. 10/10
Negative experience: Every museum is worth visiting! Cox is just a bit outdated. I'm really old in age, and it's time to add more. The fish aquarium area was beautiful! I know a newer development is in the works! For what it's worth, it's basically just artifacts and geared towards kids 7 and under. I have a 10 year old, and she wasn't too thrilled. I wouldn't go back to visit twice.
Hello Ms. Brown, Thank you for your feedback! We're thrilled to hear you enjoyed the fish aquarium. We're currently in the process of a major expansion to update our exhibits and provide new, engaging experiences for visitors of all ages, including older children. We hope you'll visit us again in the future to see all the exciting changes. Your patience and support mean a lot to us!
Fantastic experience: I love this museum and science, a very family friendly. They offer alot off activities for kids from aquarium to finding dinosaur fossil abd Many science related projects. I got the summer Saving pass including the 4 park, will be coming back soon.
Positive experience: I have been here 3 or 4 times so far. I enjoy coming because I have little ones. I love the engineering exhibit they have for children under 6 it was very popular. I feel some of the sections, particularly in the robotic section, need to be updated or fixed because it hasn't been working properly since the first time I visited. My kids loved the little splash pad area they have as well.
Hello Divine, Thank you for your feedback and for visiting us multiple times! We're glad to hear your little ones enjoy the engineering exhibit and splash pad area. We apologize for the issues in the robotics section and are happy to share that we're currently undergoing a major expansion to update and improve our exhibits. We appreciate your patience and look forward to providing a better experience on your next visit!
Fantastic experience: Awesome museum for kids and adults to visit. They have a dinosaur exhibition currently and the kids loved it. Plenty of fish in aquariums, they have an aquarium where can actually go inside the glass wall to see the fish. The museum has indoor and outdoor exhibits. It's not too big so you can easily tackle it in a few hours.
Positive experience: Extremely crowded on no school days! They have a lot of the same attractions they’ve had for years-hurricane wind simulation. There is a play ground, they added a mini golf section(no extra charge) and also inside a toddler room with water and light play. If you have an EBT card you can get in cheaper. Just the card…don’t have too be receiving the stamps.
Hello Galila, Thank you for your feedback! We're glad you enjoyed some of our attractions. We're currently undergoing an exciting expansion to bring in new exhibits and improve visitor experience. We understand that it can get crowded, especially on no school days, and we're working on ways to better manage this. We appreciate your patience and hope you'll visit again to see all the new additions soon!
Fantastic experience: Always fun, we love to buy the Summer Pass and visit just about every two weeks!
Fantastic experience: This museum/ aquarium is very nice. There are so many hands on activities for kids to enjoy & there’s a planetarium.
Fantastic experience: Fun spot to visit with little ones. I always love immersing myself at an aquarium. They also have a dinosaur exhibit going on which I learned a few things and saw a few artifacts. Reasonably priced as well.
