🗣️ St. Vincent Dolphin Pavilion: Reviews
Fantastic experience: The dolphin area is fantastic. Having recently been to Sea World, don't expect a wild and high speed show. They have the dolphins do some cute demonstrations, but most of the show is informational. The dolphins have various levels of learning and they don't do anything crazy (except for jumping super high). I liked this better than Sea World. The area is more intimate and far less crowded. If you're in the soak zone - the dolphins are good at soaking you. The underwater viewing area is beautiful here.
Fantastic experience: I attended a company retreat at the Indianapolis Zoo on Saturday. The company rented out the St. Vincent Dolphin Pavilion for lunch. Lunch was warm and very delicious! We were able to view the dolphins from below the public view, which was very neat! The workers were very attentive and kind.
Positive experience: The show was a great blend of entertainment and education. I truly appreciated the trainer’s love for the dolphins—and the way the dolphins seemed to respond with affection was heartwarming. That said, I feel the experience could have been even better with a bit more synchronization and a few additional acts. It felt more like a one-time experience rather than something I’d revisit, but still very enjoyable overall.
Fantastic experience: This is a cute and educational show. They have a soak section if you want to get wet!
Fantastic experience: Always love watching the dolphins swim around. I wish people could muzzle their kids, though. The screaming is obnoxious and I can't imagine how the poor dolphins feel listening to it all day
Fantastic experience: Awesome show! Very entertaining! Also got to do the Meet and Greet. Great memory!
Fantastic experience: A wonderful and educational dolphin show. The attachment between the keepers and dolphins is remarkable.
Fantastic experience: Amazing show short but sweet. They have a splash zone. They did waves to everyone and educational. Really pretty place.
Fantastic experience: The Dolphins at the Indianapolis Zoo are great. One of the best Dolphin shows I've been too.
Positive experience: Was overall educational! The show could have been a little more put together. But the dolphins did a great job!
Positive experience: The dolphin show is always one of our favorites. The weekend shows are much better than the weekday shows.
Fantastic experience: My family and I enjoy attending the dolphin shows. Not only do we see wonderful acrobatic feats , they educate attendees.
Fantastic experience: Great show!
Fantastic experience: These dolphin shows are very educational and entertaining! Inspired me a lot!
Fantastic experience: Highlight of our visit (according to our 7-yo). I read some reviews saying it’s short and not much of a show: in fairness, this is actually a “presentation” of their program and if you expect a flashy show, you’ll probably get disappointed. It’s free and fills up quickly. We got tickets for Meet and Greet ($20/person) and they reserve seats for you, which I thought very thoughtful and we didn’t have to worry about standing in line for long (the required age is +6). You’d check in before the presentation (required to fill out their waiver form via phone) and wait after the presentation till everybody else leaves. Then they’ll escort you to the backstage where you sanitize your shoes/hands before meeting dolphins. Actual meeting time is probably less than 30 seconds but my kids loved shaking “fins” with them. Not recommended for someone with bad knees as you’ll have to be on your knees when you meet dolphins. I was hesitant to spend $60 for 3 of us and probably would have hated myself if my kids didn’t enjoy as much as they did.
Fantastic experience: It is the most attractive exhibit of all! Dolphin show show is must, when you visit Indy zoo!
Fantastic experience: We always enjoy the show. My daughter was in the splash zone.
Fantastic experience: Was amazing fun for the whole family
Fantastic experience: The Christmas show was a lot of fun. I'll definitely be back to enjoy the light show as well.
Positive experience: The show wasn't what we expected. It involved more videos and was much quicker than we thought it would be. They had all the dolphins doing different trucks at once so it was hard to see everything. It was educational and seemed like the dolphins were well-loved, but not a traditional dolphin show.
Fantastic experience: Super fun kids loved the splash zone!
Fantastic experience: It was a great show with some awesome people working with the dolphins .my daughter and granddaughter got to go and shake fins with them .This is an extra cost of $20 per person the dolphin show was free.
Fantastic experience: Very lovely amenities, cool dolphin show, a must-see if you're at the zoo. Why not?
Fantastic experience: Nice show. Glad it was free with admission to the zoo. Slightly hard to hear the speaker/host.
Negative experience: Show was short, with the dolphins actually performing. It was more like a movie than anything. On the big screen talking about the dolphins environment and habitat .
Positive experience: Great time as always though they added quick educational videos that did cut into the runtime of the show itself. Like they were trying to be more educational but it took out the dolphin tricks that are more fun to see! Sat in splash zone n was dead center for a big splash! Great way to beat the heat!
Positive experience: Ok show considering that it is free. Short and over in 10 minutes.
Positive experience: It's a very nice facility but two of the three dolphins just didn't feel like working while we were there. Also, more than half the program is lecture about protecting dolphins and the planet. That's really tough for little kids to sit through when they just want to see the dolphins perform. The whole experience was meh.
Fantastic experience: It was my first time watching a dolphins show and was awesome. The main purpose of this is to being conscious about them. It's our duty to take care of them and going to the Indianapolis zoo definitely will contribute to this cause . Go and enjoy this show.
Positive experience: We have season tickets, the shows have always ben awesome this time we fealt cheated, not as good and way to short, it took longer to get in and get a seat
Positive experience: Zoo has come a long way since I last visited. Worth the entry price finally. Cons-online only, credit card tickets, no cash and ridiculous charge for parking. Pic is from butterfly exhibit. Not many butterflies but wonderful plant life.
Fantastic experience: Took our grandkids to the dolphin show and they loved it. The dolphins put on a great show and they were very playful.
Fantastic experience: My favorite part of this zoo. The dolphins and trainers are top notch. Very entertaining and educational. The highlight of my trip to the zoo. I highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: It's so fun to see the Dolphins having fun and show their tricks
Fantastic experience: It's a great time! And it's a great show! P.S. give yourself plenty of time and check out the dolphin observatory.
Fantastic experience: These dolphins seem very happy and interactive with staff. They have an underwater dolphin aquarium. And a show above the aquarium.
Fantastic experience: Always a good message and documentary style movie while watching the dolphin show, not just dolphin tricks. And the underground observatory is really serene and fun.
Fantastic experience: It was great I took my grandson n my daughter it was a very good day though the train ride left alot to be desired unless you like looking at weeds
Positive experience: Great show! Wish there had been more tricks/time with the dolphins. There were a lot of informative videos.
Positive experience: The dolphin Pavilion is one of the cooler things at the Indianapolis Zoo it takes you underwater and allows you to view the Dolphins from underneath the water it is very cool and they come and get a close-up look at you as well. Also if you stand in the center of the Dome and talk it sounds like you're on a huge microphone which is very cool to us grown up children
Fantastic experience: It was an awesome show. Love the trainers and they show how to communicate with them and different type of species. Will recommended to everyone.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful dolphin show, although I wish it was a little longer! My grandson and I did the "meet and greet"a dolphin after the show. It was an amazing experience. Memories he will never forget!
Positive experience: Dolphins are fun to watch. Show was a disappointment. Less than ten minutes of dolphins, mostly videos to watch on conservation. Not a kid friendly show.
Fantastic experience: Dolphin show is always fun for kids and family. They give love to the Dolphin great experience if visiting zoo first time.
Fantastic experience: The show they put in with the dolphins while educating the public about them is awesome. The trainers had the dolphins do some really cool stuff. It's fun for the kids cause if you semit in the front row you could get wet with the dolphins splashing. The show takes about 15 minutes. Very cool to see if you go to the zoo.
Fantastic experience: Show time's are soreD out a Lil mu h but get the schedule for the show time's and you'll have a blast! So fantastic!
Positive experience: Awesome show, however they spend too much time on the environment presentation. It was extremely ironic as they had HUGE plastic pinwheels on display for a spring fest at the time...
Fantastic experience: We love the Indianapolis Zoo and my Autistic grandson loves the Dophins! He walked into the stadium and said "OH look my Family!" Very exciting!
Fantastic experience: Always a great time. We live in Michigan and even though it's a 4 hour drive we bought a season pass because the kids (and if I'm being honest, the parents) loved watching the dolphins so much.
Fantastic experience: The show was amazingly breath-taking and was the first time out 8-month old seen the dolphins. She was mesmerized by the flips and jumps the dolphins did. It also was very thought provoking too. The amount of plastics that we use that end up polluting the ocean is immense and that there are simple changes to help fix the problem.
Positive experience: We loved the dolphin show and the Meet and Greet experience. The show was free but price for the Meet and Greet was well worth the experience. I would rate it 5 stars if it didn't feel rushed.
Positive experience: Love the dolphins. The show was short. They would put on a little show then we would watch a video clip on screen.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic show with a strong environmental influence towards the audience
Fantastic experience: Such a great experience for the family. Very educational and inspiring to do our part with protecting our oceans. Dolphins are so amazing and entertaining!
Fantastic experience: Okay dude straight up! This was an awesome experience all around I took a few videos but fir whatever reason Google won't let me share those idk the show was absolutely amazing and the information on these creatures is so interesting. I loved every bit of this show and see the dolphins is close up as we did is uncomparable to any other Zoo I've ever visited. I literally held fins with a dolphin today! I never thought I'd be able to say that and I did it here in the midwest. It was an awesome time and I'd 110% come back! If you're in the area and you can read this do yourself the favor and go it's so worth it!
Positive experience: Love the dolphin show
Negative experience: I was so upset I took my family there for the first time since we normally go to the Ft. Wayne Zoo. We had a 2:00pm show and we got their early to get a great seat. We waited about 20 min then the team came out. They introduced themselves only to then tell us the show will be cancelled. My daughter was devastated. Not sure why they would even give tickets away to this show only to cancel it. Tell us at the door the show was cancelled. You let the entire place fill up then cancelled it. Pretty upsetting.
Negative experience: Disappointing. I thought the show would teach us about dolphins. Instead it was a commercial about environment. We had been to the walrus show and had heard the same thing, but at least they did talk about the walrus.
Negative experience: The show was awesome. The other part of the zoo needs work. No Tiger, Red Panda, or Gibbons. There was 1 snake also absent. Only 1 food building open.I hope they don't have any more absent animals or I will not be going back.
Positive experience: It was ok they advised to get there early because they didnt let people in at show time people were still coming in 10 minutes after it was supposed to start people crawled over me to get seats
Fantastic experience: Perfect place to cool off on a hot day while enjoying a fun, informative show. The bleacher seating leaves something to be desired but I get why they do it.
Fantastic experience: These dolphins are so loved. They looked they were having a good time and got plenty of treats. They also gave a great message on how to take part in stopping single use plastic waste.
Fantastic experience: A must see.. the splash zone is the place o be for an experience for the little ones ..
Negative experience: 2 stars. The dolphin show was a lot better in the past. Now it has become a propaganda for them to have you sit and watch more about plastic waste than an actual dolphin show. If I cared or wanted to know about plastic waste and management I would have gone somewhere else to watch a video on that, not to a dolphin show. Also if you are going to be factual, the U.S has an extremely small percentage in plastic waste in the world compare to the other countries. There was little action with the dolphins. In the past you had some one call out the names, go in the water and played with them, had them do more jumps, tricks..etc.. But they now use most of that time for a video on plastic waste.
Positive experience: The show was only about 10 minutes max, they tell you to get to pavilion 30 minutes before, and if you want a good seat you have to. The pavilion was packed shoulder to shoulder, so if you're afraid to be closer than six feet from someone not wearing a mask, this is NOT the pavilion show for you! If you have little ones just go to the observation dome to see the Dolphins, and save the some sanity!
Positive experience: They kept the doors open 15 minutes after the show was supposed to start. Long story short every body was sitting right on top of each other.
Negative experience: It was very very short performance. Dolphins didn't jump there usual high stunts. Very sad day at Indy Zoo!
Fantastic experience: I absolutely love taking my kiddos to the zoo. They always look forward to the dolphin show. I love that it's educational and the trainers talk about dolphins and their natural habitat. My girls love to sit in the splash zone and get water flipped on them by the dolphins.
Positive experience: The show was wonderful but with a green peace mean in it for recycling.now don't get me wrong I do recycle an pick up trash when I go fishing. But when you pay to see a dolphin show I would expect a little more dolphin less green peace. But other that that it was a wonderful experience from them doing there exercises to paying a bit more to dance. It is truly a great show
Fantastic experience: Love the show, good feel to know they make sure social distance is enforce. Definitely will go there and watch it again.
Positive experience: It would get 5 stars.. however, the scene or act..has not changed.. we have been their many of times..we do enjoy the act of the dolphins and the energy. It is truly beautiful. The story..saving the plant.. that the acts are preformed to is truly beautiful and the message was inspirtional.
Fantastic experience: This is such a cool feature of the Indy zoo. We absolutely love the underwater dome where you can watch the dolphins zoom past and over you. The dolphin show is fun. I have heard that they offer a special package where you can swim with the dolphins, but I don't know if this is still offered.
Positive experience: The show was fun but short. Perhaps they could talk about the training of the animals and include pictures? The seats are not comfortable and people were crammed in! Not sure what you can do about that.
Fantastic experience: There are very few experiences that elicit tears. The Indianapolis Dolphin Pavilion is one of those experiences. It is sensory overload to the max, and my emotions cannot handle it. It's incredible to watch the dolphins, trainers, and inspirational videos that accompany the show. It is a must-see while you're at the Indianapolis zoo whether you've never seen their show or you've seen it 100 times.
Positive experience: Awsome experience, maybe a bit to heavy handed on the environmental message for the Dolphin show. Still awsome place to visit
Positive experience: It's always so crowded you can't relax or see everything. They show the same things every time we go in there. You would think they could show different tricks. We go to the Zoo alot and it just seems like it isn't as fun as it use to be. Pretty boring.
Fantastic experience: Great show by professional trainers who animate the crowd and relay great messages of conservation and environmentalism. The dolphins themselves look healthy, and clearly get a lot of stimulation. The zoo has a breeding program. The dolphin pavilion is one of the few exhibits at the zoo that does a very good job of accommodating individuals in wheelchairs. I was directed to a place right in front of the stands, and a folding chair was provided for one of my party to sit next to me. Five out of five stars.
Positive experience: Super nice place. Clean. Lots of great seats. Wasn't over-crowded. Dolphins followed most of the directions. 10 minutes of dolphin show and 20 minutes of public service announcement to avoid single-use plastics. I can watch those videos on YouTube at home. I came to see dolphins.
Fantastic experience: The zoo is amazing. We spent the entire day there and enjoyed it. The staff were professional and friendly and the place is well maintained and cleaned. We enjoyed the Dolphins, All Star Dogs and McCaw shows. Lots of animals to see. The Garden is beautiful. We also enjoyed the Butterfly. I highly recommend this place.
Fantastic experience: I went two years ago and enjoyed the show then. The show is different now but still just as good. They have trainers and dolphins performing at both ends of the pool so you don't have to sit in the center.
Fantastic experience: Bird feeds are life time experience. Flamingo, Budgie, cockatiel and giraffe feeds are awesome. Never seen anything like it until now. There's even a train ride through the zoo.
Fantastic experience: I haven't been to the zoo in 11 years. This was a very special day for me.
Positive experience: Always a great show. Not so sure I would pay for the private swim... sounds great but $$
Positive experience: Very clean. Friendly staff. Not too crowded. Train ride was kind of a waste of money because it took you on a ride around the back zoo matenience buildings and you didnt even get to really see any animals. The dolphin show was awesome but wish it would have been a little bit longer and more light because it was kind of hard to see them. But overall this was a fun and family friendly place to spend the day together with kiddos.
Negative experience: I liked the dolphin show, but to be honest I would not go back to this zoo again. My son loves animals as do I, but most of the animals were not out or not in the cage. The train ride was awful most of the view was of zoo storage, the main street, and trees. In my opinion Indianapolis zoo needs an update.
Fantastic experience: The dolphin pavilion was fantastic and my kids had a blast at the dolphin show. The show was informative and the kids were telling their friends about the things they learned. The splash zone is hit or miss if you'll get wet but two of my kids loved it and the other one cried so be careful on what you decide to do. The upper row seats are just as good as the lower ones for seeing the dolphins.
Fantastic experience: A wonderful experience and chance to see the dolphins up close. They genuinely look thrilled to entertain the guests and interacted during free time. You can sit in the splash zone, my kids favorite, and get splashed throughout the show. Not only is out entertaining, the show offers a great learning experience about pollution and other things. One of our favorite parts of the zoo.
Fantastic experience: Great Zoo to be with family. Where all animals are present and their employees are awesome.
Fantastic experience: This zoo is one of my favorites. This summer they have a few new animals (black mamba and sloths). They are constantly adding new things and keeping it looking great. Zoo is always clean. Kids will have a blast and parking is ample. They even have picnic tables out front. Plan on spending your whole day there if you want to see and do everything.
Fantastic experience: This was such a fun show to watch! If you are going to the zoo, don't miss it! I suggest getting in line about thirty-twenty minutes early if you want to pick your seats because it fills up really fast.
Negative experience: This show used to be really cool. It's mostly a video on why you should recycle now. Good message, bad dolphin show. It was honestly boring. It used to be my favorite part of the zoo.
Positive experience: The show was nice, and the workers were very enthusiastic. There was almost too much going on at one time to be enjoyable. They could have easily spread the tricks out, and made the show longer, which is another complaint. Overall, the show was pretty neat. The bubble underneath the tank was a pretty cool experience.
Fantastic experience: Amazing exhibit! The show is a lot of fun. Be prepared to get wet if you sit in the spash zone. If you want the best views of the tricks sit higher up.
Fantastic experience: This zoo holds a special place in my heart!! If you are local, I highly recommend purchasing a membership so that you can visit often and not have to rush during your visit!
Fantastic experience: This zoo has so much to offer, it was a delight for our whole family visit, with our ages being under 1 all the way through 80+. For the baby, everything was very stroller-friendly, and for Great-Grandma there were lots of shady areas, and benches were easy to find. The animals were all very easy to see and observe, so it was really enjoyable in that regard. There were no safety concerns that stood out to us, but definitely make sure you keep careful watch over your toddlers and preschoolers because it would be easy to get lost very quickly. I highly recommend the dolphin show! That was well worth sticking around for even though we were unable to go to as early of a showing as we had hoped for.
Fantastic experience: The kids loved it and they have elephants!!! They're not in any zoos around my anymore
Fantastic experience: The dolphins are a beauty to behold. The trainers and the video packages are warm, friendly, and informative. Like they say at the gat get there early for good seats and to see some training.
Fantastic experience: The dolphin show was amazing!!!!! Family coaster awesome and the train ride was very fun!!!
Negative experience: They are more interested in giving an ecology lecture, which while important, really does detracted from the point of the show, the dolphins. There are many more much better displays than this to see.
Fantastic experience: I love this part of the zoo. Dolphin shows have always been a fun activity for me. We always sit in the splash zone. The pavilion is nice. I like that we can go inside and see the dolphins swimming under the crowd observation deck. The bathrooms inside the pavilion (and the whole zoo) are clean and well stocked. This is a great way to cool off on a hot day.
