🗣️ North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores: Reviews
Positive experience: It was a bit too crowded during the first week of July. Go during the off season. A butterfly garden greets you. If you walk out of the Aquariums main entrance door, go to the right back of the parking lot --- there is an amazing trail that lasts a good 50mins to the end and back on a sand bar with stunning views of the soundside (fav part of the trip). Inside the Aquarium there was an array of sea creatures that'll keep you occupied. If you go out the back doors there is beautiful views of the marshlands. You also may meet the resident bald eagles. Too many kids and sticky stuff for me during the summer hours but I absolutely love this place and will definitely come visit again!
Fantastic experience: Lots of fun considering how small of a place it is compared to other aquariums. The largest tank had a barracuda in it, which for me was the best part. Highly recommend. Plenty of space to just sit back and enjoy the fish.
Fantastic experience: We have been to all three NC aquariums from Roanoke Island to Wilmington, and they have never been a disappointment. Especially good for children 12 or under, not so much for surly teen-agers. Go early or very late in the day in the summer because parking is limited, and some who park along the access road have been towed. Rainy summer days all of the aquariums are packed.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing time with the family. Amazing things everywhere to see and learn. The kids didn't want to leave.
Negative experience: I have never seen the Aquarium so crowded. I’m a local and I can deal with crowds. But this was ridiculous. I know it was a weekend day. I know it was a holiday weekend July 4 and I know it had rained. We had to park all the way to the very end where parking spaces were not even allowed and it was just too crowded. I honestly think the fire marshal would’ve shut them down. Otherwise, Aquarium was pretty nice if you can see it.
Fantastic experience: We had a really great time. I enjoyed all of the different exhibits. From fish, to snakes. Jellyfish and a rare crocodile. I highly recommend it.
Fantastic experience: Soo cool in here, loved seeing all the different types of fish and there is even a snake part outside!
Fantastic experience: Smaller aquarium, very nice place to spend an afternoon. Definitely worth the price.
Fantastic experience: Great experience and very informative about the natural habitat of coastal and inland wildlife
Fantastic experience: The Aquarium at PKS never disappoints! We enjoyed all the snakes! The two bald eagles were very active. The grandkids also did a behind the scenes tour. That was really awesome!!!
Fantastic experience: NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores is amazing. This is the crown jewel of the 3 aquariums and the 1 estuarium. The Aquarium at PKS also has behind the scenes tours for those 12 and up. That lets you go behind the curtains and see both levels of the aquarium that not all of the public gets to see. The North Carolina Estuarium is also worth a visit if your headed back to VA after a week in the Crystal Coast area. It is off the Pamlico River in Washington, NC featuring exhibits and artworks. An estuarium is a place studying an estuary where fresh and saltwater mix. It opened in 1988.
Fantastic experience: The NC Aquarium is ALWAYS a hit with my youngest son (14). We actually got up the morning we went and drove to Emerald Isle just to go to this aquarium! Very well maintained, friendly staff, excellent displays and assortment of “fishes”.
Fantastic experience: Such a cute and informative exhibit/aquarium. While getting to the location is a long drive, the route is very scenic. The aquarium is not big and can be completed within an hour. There is another outdoor area past the snake exhibit where the kiddos can play in a tree house play structure. The dive show/exhibit indoors is very beautiful and informative. Prices for entry are nice, and they do offer numerous options for entry per their website. Overall a very nice aquarium to take the kiddos to for a half day (including drive) of fun- indoors during the summer heat and cooler months.
Fantastic experience: I hadn't been here in 20 years. But Godd*mn...they renovated and made this one of THE BEST aquariums in the USA (Chattanooga, I still <3 U) Seriously. The exhibit design is a masterpiece of design. If I didn't have a bunch of kids with me...I could spend a day dusk till dawn relaxing watching the beauty of life that this place puts on full display . Also...they have two "Hypnotoads" (For people who like Futurama)
Fantastic experience: Took our 2 and a half year old while on vacation to get a break from the heat and she loved it! I also enjoyed it as an adult.
Fantastic experience: The aquarium is great! Make sure to reserve your spot in advance but it's an affordable fund place to go for a date, family fun, or a solo adventure. The shark tooth dig area is awesome!!
Fantastic experience: My son loved it!! I loved they had a park, a walking trail & the inside it a pretty decent size. The photos are pricey but i thought they were definitely worth it. ALSO don't forget there's a little dig site for shark teeth at the end.
Fantastic experience: Great place to escape the heat and very fun and very informative for adults and children alike.
Positive experience: Went on North Carolina Emerald Isle beach and me and my family decided to stop by on this hidden gem, it's not too big of an aquarium but my kids had amazing time in here, my little one enjoyed playing with other kids, the place is neat and organized bathroom is clean also, you can tell that this place is well maintained, we spend almost 3 hours in here we enjoyed watching ocean species and our favors the touch the stingray. This place is good for little kids and I highly recommend to stop by if ever you are in the area.
Positive experience: It's not a very big aquarium. It's not worth the $13 per person, in my opinion. Good place to get out of the heat and sun, though.
Fantastic experience: We had an amazing time here. Always friendly and informative staff, they are always clean and the discovery room was a ton of fun
Fantastic experience: Always a great experience. They have added so many great things since my last visit. There's a new science bay and hospital tanks, as well as a brand new kid's play zone. I will always recommend the Aquarium!
Fantastic experience: We visited the aquarium on a busy Thursday (perhaps due to the Juneteenth holiday). The aquarium itself was great! The exhibits were fun and educational. My daughter, my wife and I all enjoyed it a lot. The highlight, however, was the after hours behind the scenes sea turtles program! I HIGHLY recommend it if you enjoy sea turtles at all. We came back to the aquarium at 6pm, after closing, for the program. Our guides, Renee and Megan, were awesome! We were in a small group of 5 and had the aquarium all to ourselves. We got to travel to the beach nearby to see a recently laid protected nest. Renee and Megan described the 7 species of sea turtles, including the 5 found in North Carolina. We examined some sea turtle skulls and skeletons, talked about what they eat and their behaviors. We then saw a few of the young ambassador turtles at the aquarium that didn't make it out of the their nests when they hatched and that will stay at the aquarium for about a year for educational purposes. We also saw some of the older sea turtles that were found hurt or sick and are rehabilitating in the aquarium. Since we were in such a small group, we got to ask a ton of questions and get them answered. We are so fortunate to live in North Carolina where so many different species of sea turtles visit and nest. My wife, daughter and I all agreed that this was the highlight of our visit. We would recommend it to anyone with an interest in sea turtles!
Fantastic experience: The experience here was great. This is definitely a family friend place and a lot of aquarium life to see. I saw a lot of kids at this place and seemed to enjoy the whole experience. This is mostly indoor so no need to worry about getting burned from sun. You don’t have to buy tickets ahead of time because there is hardly a line to get in.
Fantastic experience: Love visiting this location. Our highlights today included the sea otters, sea horses and jellyfish. We love taking the short path to the playground outside (worth a bug spray in the parking lot before!) Special shout out to volunteer Ashlynn, who made my boys feel so special by talking all about shark teeth with them. Special trip!
Fantastic experience: Lovely aquarium, great fun for the whole family. Definitely worth the admission fee. Purchase tickets online for quick entry. They also have a nature trail & some animals out back you should visit.
Positive experience: This is a perfect stop for a rainy day. Getaway, while at the beach, it is small, but entertaining and has lots of aquatic life with indoor and outdoor activity for the kids. There is a short nature trail and an outside part to get rid of some of the little kid wiggles
Fantastic experience: Took our 11 month old and he loved it! The staff were friendly and helpful. Ticket prices were more than fair!
Fantastic experience: This is a must-see if you're in the Atlantic Beach area! There is ample (free) parking and the admission price is totally worth it. Several of their larger tanks have been constructed to look like shipwrecks, including the large tank with three sharks in it. They have plenty of the usual aquarium staples like seahorses, lionfish and jellyfish, but they also have otters and even a couple of bald eagles!
Fantastic experience: Fantastic little aquarium! They also have a few non-aquatic residents, including two bald eagles who aren't able to survive in the wild. The otters are incredibly cute!
Fantastic experience: So much for the low cost of the ticket price! We absolutely loved the aquarium and nature walk, highly highly recommend. For 3 adult tickets it'll cost you as much as 1 ticket at other aquariums we've visited in other places. Very neat how the aquarium is laid out.
Positive experience: Great fun for families with kids. To be honest I think there are definitely better options but this was still a great family friendly experience!!!
Fantastic experience: Very kind and helpful staff, extremely knowledgeable. Clean facility, plenty of great things to see. Affordable pricing
Positive experience: My family and I absolutely loved the Aquarium. We fortunately arrived right before the shark feeding and got to see that. They still had enough animals and a trail to keep us entertained for over an hour. On an extra windy day it was a great beach escape for us all. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: FYI: The green screen pictures are a minimum of $45
Fantastic experience: Excellent place to visit for all ages. A lot of fish including sharks! Got to see the new sea horse nursery, jelly fish and hermit crabs. My favorite was between the otters and the bald eagles. Take a walk around the outside trails (about 1/2 mile), if you do wear bug spray mosquitoes go crazy out there. Opposite of the aquarium entrance is a dairy queen for a quick bit to eat or a sweet treat.
Fantastic experience: Had the opportunity to see the new exhibit before they opened. The staff went all out, it was a great experience for the kids! Thanks everyone!
Fantastic experience: It’s a very nice cute place to see some wildlife. For the price and to get the family out for some fun, totally worth it. After that you’re right near food and beach.
Fantastic experience: The family enjoyed the aquarium as always. The otters were not as active as normal, but they need rest too. The kids liked the new attraction and we renewed our family annual membership. Go enjoy the NC aquarium.
Positive experience: HOMESCHOOLERS AND OTHERS WITH SPECIAL DISCOUNT PROGRAMS, BEWARE SUDDEN POLICY CHANGES I am so sad to be making this review, but homeschoolers: beware the customer relations desk and their attitude toward homeschoolers. Every year, we visit this aquarium when our family comes to the beach. We follow all rules, make sure we have our documentation, and go to the customer relations desk as instructed. That’s where the trouble happened: I approached the customer relations desk with three excited children and my documentation. Per aquarium policy, homeschoolers are allotted one free aquarium trip per year, as long as we have our documentation and an ID for the parent on the registration. This has always covered our entire family - two adults and three children, for multiple years. This year, I simply stated, with a smile, “we are a homeschool family. He’s our registration,” and Susan audibly scoffed at me, mumbling something about “already had questions about homeschoolers and holidays”, then demanded, not asked, for the age of my children. When I told her, again, very kindly, she barked back that I WOULD be paying for my youngest child because he “isn’t school-aged”. He is a preschool-aged child. This has never been the case in years past. Her tone was condescending and overall rude, and her counter-part standing next to her rolled her eyes when I said we were a homeschooling family. My children are old enough to understand social nuances and noticed immediately that their reaction was to the words “homeschool family”. Her entire demeanor changed at those words. We have never had a bad experience at this or any other NC Aquarium, so this is entirely out of the ordinary and shocking, to be honest. It really put a damper on the experience as we felt ostracized at the very start of our visit just for being homeschoolers. I would imagine those in customer relations would know how to be kind, considerate, and attentive to customer’s needs. Unfortunately, this is not the case. If the policy had changed, we would have understood and moved on. If it was because it was a holiday, we still would have understood and moved on. No such explanation was given, and I was not even given an opportunity to ask about a policy change. I was so rattled by her condescension and rudeness that I paid for my youngest child, then called the other homeschool family coming with us to make sure they would still be able to attend. From now on, if we choose to return, we will call ahead to make sure the policy will be upheld as it normally is. I suggest any other homeschoolers do the same as the policy seems to be upheld differently depending on the attitude of individual employees toward homeschooling.
Fantastic experience: Great experience for children and adults alike. It has a nice half of a mile trail that kids enjoyed a lot.
Positive experience: Nice, modern aquarium. Only issue we had was a buss load of loud and obnoxious acting middle school kids. Not good - had to leave early
Fantastic experience: Great little aquarium with an awesome selection of aquatic animals. Fair price for entry and very friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: Very nice aquarium with a playground outside. Very clean and well played out. Must check out if you are in the area. There is an admission fee
Fantastic experience: Fun and friendly place to visit, and the nature trail makes it especially worthwhile. There's a lot of interesting information about native wildlife and the ecosystem here.
Fantastic experience: Easy drive in with nice views. Prices are reasonable given what you get. Building and grounds are very clean. Staff is friendly. Very nice outdoor play area and marsh boardwalk. I would budget at least 3 hours to not feel rushed.
Positive experience: My granddaughter loved it especially the big shipwreck tank since she could wheel herself right up to it with her wheelchair.
Fantastic experience: For me, this never gets old, my grandkids have been here at least 3 times since moving to Beaufort NC. We enjoy it all. The otters are really fun, as well as all the turtles.
Fantastic experience: Very nice place . Been here before and love going back . We paid for a behind the scenes tour and loved every minute about it . And even got to feed the big fish in the shark tank .
Fantastic experience: This is a beautiful aquarium with a huge tank with sharks and huge fishes. We also loved the fresh water part with lots of amphibians (daughter lived there newts). The best part was the place where you can touch some species like hermit crabs, orchids and whelks - the volunteer working there was clearly passionate!
Fantastic experience: It's a smaller aquarium but the exhibits are awesome. They have a hiking trail and a watch area as well. It's a bit hidden so lookout for them.
Fantastic experience: Great experience for kids and parents. My boys enjoyed the few interactive exhibits.
Fantastic experience: Cool sunk pirate ship (Blackbeards Queen Annes revenge ) and German U boat exhibits ! Kids had a great time. There is a spot where they can touch some sea creatures. Definitely worth a trip to visit this aquarium
Fantastic experience: The aquarium is one of my favorite places. Although not as big as Fort Fisher the exhibits are set up beautifully with plenty of marine wildlife. I could stay here all day!
Fantastic experience: Beautiful aquarium. Well laid out, very informative, and plenty of interesting facts about the NC marine life. Definitely worth a stop and see.
Positive experience: The aquarium was really fun we enjoyed the variety of sea creatures. We didn't finish the nature trail because we ran into a snake so keep your kids close.
Fantastic experience: Gets better every time we go the duvets are awesome !
Fantastic experience: They require online reservations. They have an outdoor play area, and indoor baby area. Love seeing all the fish and touch tank. Pack your own lunch unless you want hotdogs/dairy queen
Positive experience: Nice little aquarium. There's not a lot of attractions, but they are all nice. The shipwreck area is pretty awesome, and the otters were super fun to watch.
Fantastic experience: Pretty nice aquarium that has a Dairy Queen, oddly enough.
Fantastic experience: Not the biggest aquarium we've seen but had great displays and write-ups and reasonably priced. Family friendly.
Fantastic experience: The outdoor trail and play area is so nice to let kids run wild. The exhibits are displayed well and informative.
Fantastic experience: I was expecting way less for the price of this aquarium! Was very pleasantly surprised it was a lot bigger and better than I had anticipated. Me, my friend, her 11 year old daughter and two 17 year old kids came, everyone really enjoyed it. The huge tank with the shipwreck replica and the huge fish and sharks was pretty awesome! I do recommend this aquarium not only for kids but for adults too! Nice place!
Fantastic experience: It was my first time at the aquarium I LOVED IT!! Such a great place. They have ½ mile walk outside it takes about 30 mins to walk
Fantastic experience: It is an Awesome Aquarium!! Watching the otters was fun. They were so playful. We were there in time to watch scuba divers inside the fish tank with the sharks. The presentation was very informative. The sharks eat twice a week on Tuesday and Friday. I would recommend it for all ages.
Fantastic experience: Been coming to this aquarium for over 10 years and it’s still just as wonderful and beautiful. This time I got to bring our kids along for the experience and it’s all they talk about.
Positive experience: This place is great. Friendly environment, reasonable price and outdoor area for walking. But it is pity that the Aquarium is not big which don’t have dolphins or Marine mammals. It is still a great place if you been here for vocation.
Fantastic experience: We saw the reviews that it was small and didn't take long at all to go through. We thought it was well presented and very affordable for the area. We also got discounts from our local zoo membership, which made it even better value. Our grandkids loved it!
Fantastic experience: This was the first aquarium I've ever been too. This was a really cool experience. They have the largest indoor tank in NC. I believe she said 300,000 gallons of fresh, filtered salt water straight from the sound. That water is then filtered and returned back to the same sound.
Negative experience: The aquarium was fun experience until we went to the gift shop, I bought my 1.5 year old a chocolate bar because hangry and it was the only thing they had. A woman said she was fine to eat while in the gift shop. She left, and another one of the employees yelled at my child. We will not be returning. That was uncalled for, you shouldn’t yell at a child for eating. I don’t care where it’s at. You sell candy in your gift shop, then you should be able to eat it there. Stop selling it if it’s issue.
Fantastic experience: Great showcase of mountain and river fish
Fantastic experience: This aquarium is great. There's lots of cool stuff to see, but it's not overwhelmingly huge. We especially loved the sharks, otters, and the submarine! We got to see starfish, pet sea urchins, and learn about bald eagles. The kids loved the outside stuff, too! The trails, Hurricane Simulator, awesome playground, and beautiful views were a perfect way to spend our morning.
Fantastic experience: Lots to sea for the size of the aquarium lol Fun family trip. Wish the theater was open and it was a nicer day to enjoy the outdoor attractions.
Fantastic experience: Great experience and very reasonably priced! Two adults and two upper teens for less than $13 apiece. We wandered around for two and a half hours and were sorry to be done. We really had a good time. The area was clean and well-staffed with informed team members ready to answer questions. The exhibits were plentiful, beautiful, and interesting. The aquarium life alone would have been fine, but there were informational displays alongside each exhibit. There were even interactive screens and touch exhibits with sea life and with shell identification. The volunteer at the shells was sweet and very knowledgeable. The souvenir shop was first class. If you need simple food, they have a Dairy Queen on premises with lots of ice cream choices as well as hot dogs and pretzel sticks. Plenty of picnic tables with a couple of them able to accommodate wheelchairs. Bring a group! Bus parking and picnic tables for packed lunch enjoyment. Bring three dollars and try the hurricane simulator. You can even get involved in a fossil dig. Two bathroom locations with multiple stalls.
Fantastic experience: This is a great facility for the area. Nice to have in the cold or rainy days.
Fantastic experience: Love it here, great place for families and kids. Clean, friendly staff. The indoor play area across from the gift shop is perfect for toddlers. It’s really a great little aquarium. Love that they have a Dairy Queen by the exit too haha can’t escape without the kids begging for ice cream on hot days. I would definitely recommend buying tickets online if you’re planning to go on a weekend or during the summer tourist season.
Positive experience: While small with limited displays, they had a beautiful array of aquatic life. The outdoor walk area was also beautiful when my family visited. Would have loved to see a larger selection of snakes, but not docking points for that since it is an aquarium, not a zoo. The only reason I docked points was the limited displays didn't include dolphins. Otherwise, very easy going and relaxed. Plenty of areas to stop and sit. The best one being the large tank that had a few sharks and a large variety of fish swimming in it. The large gift shop at the end was nice with a great variety of choices. Plenty of parking outside made it very convenient to visit. Overall, a very nice trip with my parents and brother. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't overly crowded which was great! The active waterfall just inside the entry was a beautiful touch!
Fantastic experience: Had a great time taking my 2 year old to this aquarium! I will say heads up it is relatively small. You could probably do the entire walk through in under 30 min. So If you traveled far because all the aquariums in NC are on the coast, just make sure you have other stuff to do in the area! However the tickets are fairly priced and we had a fun time looking at all the different fish!
Fantastic experience: What a very cute aquarium. It’s definitely on the smaller side but don’t let that stop you from going. Their exhibits are beautiful and so many amazing fish and other animals to see! We loved the interactive things they had all over the aquarium and of course the touch tank. We could have sat for hours in the huge underwater fish tank. I think it’s called ship wrecked? It was beautiful and so peaceful to watch all the fish and sharks swimming around.
Fantastic experience: We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Appeals to young to old at an affordable price. Uses North Carolina ecosystems to explore diverse fresh and saltwater life. The river otters were so playful and energetic. Highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: We went on a sunday afternoon and it wasn’t crowded at all. The exhibits were large and there was a wide variety of marine life. The gift shop was reasonably priced, and staff in the entire aquarium were so kind and welcoming. We had a great time and will definitely be back!
Negative experience: There was a group of 15 of us going to see the pine Knowles aquarium we Drove for a hour and a half to find the place closed even though the website said they were open till 5:00pm. We got to the aquarium at 11:15 to find a place closed Very disappointed. Please update your website so a lot of people do not get discouraged and drive along ways out of there way like we did. It looks beautiful on the website would’ve given five stars. I’m sure but only gave two because I’m very upset and disappointed.
Fantastic experience: Get ready for a one-of-a-kind, immersive experience, both on land and deep underwater, that begins way out in Western North Carolina in the highest peaks of the Appalachian Mountains and works east through the state and ending in the Atlantic Ocean, all under one roof! When you first arrive, you’re greeted by a very friendly ticket attendant, then you enter a beautiful lobby where you’ll come face-to-face with an American Alligator! As you make your way forward, you’ll come to a beautiful display of a waterfall, that leads you into the section where you’ll learn about the mountain rivers and streams, and more importantly, what lives in them! The deeper and deeper you get into the aquarium, you’ll continue to learn all about the great and wonderful aquatic animals of North Carolina, even a few land-based creatures you wouldn’t expect to see at an aquarium (like the bald eagles, box turtles, and rattle snakes)! But the real stars of this show are the folks that wear the light-blue polo shirts! Every employee that we encountered were welcoming, friendly, and above-all, knowledgeable. I honestly couldn’t have been more pleased with our visit, and as a local, I always recommend this aquarium to my friends and family who come to visit the area. If you are planning a visit to the island, please make sure you make time to stop by and check out this gem!
Fantastic experience: I would like to say, if you want a great place to go, whether with kids or an outing with your spouse, this place is amazing and will make your heart happy. We are new members and were PLEASANTLY surprised by a new employee, Sydnie, who blew our minds at her knowledge of conservation, and asked us to check out behind the scenes. We learned a lot and plan to help, contribute, and volunteer. Needless to say, after today, we will help more, knowing all that is done to help the sea life and want you to know it is not just picture show., they HELP.
Fantastic experience: Our favorite is the otters. So much fun to watch. It is better to go on a warmer, sunny day to walk the trails. Little ones love going here and all good questions.
Fantastic experience: Fun outing with family... A lot of interesting sights to see... We'll definitely make another visit soon...
Fantastic experience: We are annual members with the Aquarium as this is our favorite place to take my toddlers. I love that they have a little bit of everything and isn’t too big to where my kids get tired. My kids favorite parts are the river otters and sharks. It’s the perfect rainy day activity.
Fantastic experience: Fun place to visit for both children and adults. Plenty to see and quite a few interactive displays as well. There’s also a nature trail (roughly 30 minutes long). Highly recommend bringing bug spray and/or wearing the appropriate clothing if you do choose to do the trail because it’s located along a swamp. The gift shop has plenty to offer, including souvenirs and stuffed animals.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful facility with excellent staff! Beautiful animals! We especially lived the ocean exhibit and the eagles...So magical!
Fantastic experience: Fantastic small aquarium on the island. Absolutely great for small children and adults alike. The exhibits are very clean, well lit and easy for all ages to see and watch the animals. Highly recommended.
Positive experience: Very educational nice little aquarium. They have a nice variety of exhibits and something you can make it through the entire display in an hour or two
Fantastic experience: The NC Aquarium is an amazing venue for any special event you may be planning! We had our son’s rehearsal dinner there in late August 2024 and were thrilled with everything from the parking, to the planning, to the party celebrating with our family and friends. Kerri and the other staff will make the magic happen!
Fantastic experience: Great and diverse aquarium! Worthwhile for kids and adults! It has tons of wonderful fresh and saltwater creatures from sharks to sea otters as well as snakes and birds (owls and rescued bald eagles) a nature trail/boardwalk, a unique playground, indoor play area, nice gift shop, and some snacks (Dairy Queen). The care for the animals seems excellent and the staff is friendly. You are asked to buy tickets online in advance for a specific time.
Fantastic experience: Great place for the family, lots of exhibits, well taken care of. Also has the largest aquarium in North Carolina with 3 sharks! Tons of stuff for kids and adults. Two outdoor nature trails. Lots of parking and great staff that care lots about the facility and visitors. Great air conditioning for hot days most of the exhibits are indoors making it perfect for a rainy day.
Fantastic experience: Great experience visiting with my family while on vacation. Lots of local and tropical exhibits. Took us about 2-3 hours to do the whole thing. Reasonably priced tickets. Lovely accessible outdoor nature boardwalk with bird watch areas and bald eagle exhibit. Additional nature walks but unable to explore via wheelchair. Very accessible and sensory friendly. Able to borrow wheelchairs and sensory kits. They even labeled high sensory areas. Loved the subtle inclusivity touches.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful trip! Our older children had a blast, and our toddler was beyond thrilled getting up close and personal. We miss the stingray touch tank from years back.
Fantastic experience: great aquarium. we have visited every summer since 2010. we miss the sting ray touch tank and the octopus exhibit.
Fantastic experience: Aug 2024: We enjoyed this aquarium, the size is small, interactive, and colorful! The surrounding area is great for a beach day as well. They had a really cool area for the kids to hang out, chill and play.
Fantastic experience: Pine knolls shore aquarium is one of the best and the only one in Atlantic beach. Great experience for everyone kids to grandparents
Fantastic experience: What an excellent aquarium with all of the educational information for children and families. The place is very well designed and set up and has not lost its quality over the years of operation with new additions etc... The children's park outside along the trails is excellent. The docks and walkways along the bay are very nicely put together. Love the otter exhibit, and the large tanks have a plethora of beautiful fish! There are plenty of staff to offer support, and they also have wheelchairs for anyone who has elderly grandparents or someone with disabilities. The little dairy queen. There is an excellent addition on a very hot day. The food is fine! And if you do go here right after you can go play, mini golf, go Karting or go to the beach right next door.
