Fantastic experience: Very educational for all ages. Our grandkids (ages 2 & 4) loved this. All the people there are great and so nice. Admissions were very reasonable.

Fantastic experience: I recently visited the Marine Science Center's, bird hospital to bring them an injured blue heron i found. I was asked if I could keep it overnight and bring it to the in the morning. I was there early and they came right out to receive this bird and we're polite as well. I was even able to call to check on the bird and see how it was doing and if they were able to help it. Unfortunately they couldn't help it. It's a shame.

Fantastic experience: I recently found an injured blue heron and was instructed to bring it here to the bird hospital. The bird suffered a broken wing somehow and I had hoped to help it by catching it and taking it here. The people here were very helpful and polite. I was able to drop the bird off the next morning. I called to check on it but unfortunately they had to put it to sleep. I appreciate their efforts and in the future if I find another bird, I know where to bring it. Thank you very much

Fantastic experience: This is a compact, family-friendly educational center where visitors can: Pet stingrays in a 13-foot-long touch pool featuring cownose rays and Atlantic stingrays (their barbs have been removed for safety). The touch pool also houses sea cucumbers, horseshoe crabs, and other native marine creatures. (11 AM feeding the stingrays) Currently, there is a baby stingray. sea turtle hospital: The center operates a rehabilitation facility for sick and injured sea turtles, viewable from the Turtle Terrace. Here, you can observe turtles being treated and learn about their recovery process. Learn about manatees, mangroves, and coral reefs: Exhibits include an estuary display with mangroves, a 5,000-gallon artificial reef aquarium, and a living reef exhibit with live corals and reef fish, all highlighting the importance and diversity of these habitats. See diverse exhibits: The center features a freshwater aquariums with native turtles, a “Blue Room” with unusual sea creatures like seahorses and lionfish.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love coming here. It's very educational, small, and friendly, knowledgeable staff and volunteers.

Fantastic experience: Such a treat to be here on their reopening day. Learned a lot about our Florida marine life and also about raptors.

Monica Marie 4 months ago

Positive experience: Cute place, but only took like 15 min to look around so the admission was kind of steep for not too much to see, just considered it a donation to the great work they do. Really like the owls and you can pet a stingray, definitely great for little kids. And liked seeing the turtles being rehabilitated.

Fantastic experience: I've been to this precious jewel, three times. This place is so wonderful! I've been all over Florida and visited Disney's operations, attended festivals, kayaked with Manatees and hiked the coastal trails, etc., nothing compares to the Zen of this little place. It's extra special to me because I love wildlife and learning about marine animals. The staff are very caring toward the animals that are on the mend. They are kindhearted and knowledgeable and will work to make your visit a positive experience. The atmosphere is conducive to learning. Kids have a chance for hands on interactions. Books and gifts are available. It's really a treat to come here when I'm in the area. I hope you'll take the time to visit too! Age appropriateness? Toddlers to centenarians and everyone in between can find something here to enjoy. While you're here, stop in and visit the light house or take a stroll on the beach which are both within a short walking distance. Public transportation is available to this location using Route 17A onboard the Votran bus system.

Fantastic experience: This is such a fun place! We’ve done 2 homeschool tours here both very different but informative. The staff is great with answering questions and giving you fun facts about the animals they care for. Looking forward to coming back after the remodel!

Fantastic experience: This is a wonderful facility! Just go! The new raptor exhibit is very cool! If you go anytime soon, look out for Eldorado Canyon! He is a juvenile Green turtle that I found on the beach 12/24/2023. He was covered in barnacles and had a sea snail the size of a fist on his shell. He had been washed up. Was very lethargic, and had pneumonia. The facility has been rehabbing him. *Update: Eldorado Canyon was rehabilitated and released to the ocean March 2024. This wonderful little guy spurred me to complete a bucket list item - he was named after Eldorado Canyon State Park in Colorado. This initiated a trip to Colorado to visit Red Rocks, and of course, Eldorado Canyon State Park! We hiked Rattlesnake Gulch Trail - thanks to "Eldorado Canyon". I hope you are living your best turtle life ever!

Fantastic experience: Fantastic marine and science museum. Watch seahorse being fed. Feed stingrays yourself. Longer head turtle and other turtles. Hawks Bald Eagles Falcon Many fish. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: A very nice place to go with or without children. A very non-expensive place to go to see and learn. Bonus - you get to pet sting rays, and if you are there during feeding times, you can hand feed them.

Positive experience: Not a lot there but then the admission fee is low. We were able to feed stingrays. There are other sights in the immediate area such as a lighthouse and beach park making this part of a day exploring

Fantastic experience: Always a pleasure to have the kids learning about ocean and it's creatures, feels like every time we go there we learn new facts! Small but well kept center, very good and courteous volunteers that are extremely helpful answering all the questions kids have! Thank you for all you do and helping kids appreciate ocean more!

Fantastic experience: This was amazing I cannot recommend it more!! The staff was great and answered all of our questions. It was so fun to feed the sting rays. We got to pet them too and saw a lot of animals.

Fantastic experience: So worth a visit! This place is doing a great job towards education and understanding of marine life - turtles are rescued, cared for, and released from this location. A great learning experience for all and great value too.

Fantastic experience: This is a small, local facility that does wonderful things for education and sea turtle/marine animal rehabilitation. It is a very hands-on place, with lots to learn about, see, and touch. My kiddo could have spent all day petting Sting rays!

Fantastic experience: My family and I always visit this Science center when we come to Florida on Vacation. We love it. The ONLY downfall is how small it is. I was told, when we were there a few days ago, that they are expanding! I am so happy to hear this. It gives so much incentive to look forward to new things! I also love the fact the prices are so reasonable that people don't go broke upon entry. It's such a cute and educational place to visit. And so very worth the visit.

Fantastic experience: Beautifully laid out environmental center with sea turtle rehabilitation center. Knowledgeable staff and volunteers.

Fantastic experience: We love this place. It is kind of small, but that just means you are closer to the exhibits. I recommend going on a weekday to feed and touch the stingrays. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly!! The gift shop has tons of cute merchandise too

Lori Casal 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: One of the best things to do in Ponce Inlet/Daytona, both with and without kids! You can feed stingrays, go see the sea turtle hospital and learn all about the current turtle patients and why protecting them is so important. See tanks with all sorts of sea creatures and visit raptor birds. They have different classes to sit in on at different times and a great gift shop. We love this place. We took our grandchildren. However, parking later in the day is terrible, so I suggest going first thing when they open.

Holly Hesselmeyer 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Great place! It's not very big but it has a good amount of cool exhibits. We really enjoyed feeding the stingrays! We got there for feeding time for the big birds so it was cool and mildly traumatizing to watch them pull the hair off the little rats but definitely interesting! Lol Thank you all for rescuing the turtles and the other marine animals!

Fantastic experience: Our kids loved the touch tank, and it kept them busy a good 45 minutes or so. Our middle child absolutely loves turtles and had a blast seeing them being fixed up at the turtle hospital. There were a few groups of what looked like daycare kids that were in and out of areas fairly quickly following a guide. It was like $30 for 5 of us to get in. There is a lot to read and listen to if you stick around for the feedings and information skits. You can easily spend a couple hours here with young kids or anyone interested in learning about wildlife restoration and preservation.

Chelsea Smith 1 year ago

Positive experience: This is a neat little place if you are visiting this part. They have a variety of animals you can see (turtles, fish, seahorses, birds, and stingrays). You can even touch the stingrays. It is very small, so there isn’t a lot to do/see, but it makes for a nice little break for kids.

Charlie Trader 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Had an amazing time with the grandkids. Educational, fun all while helping wounding marine life recover. A must see if visiting Daytona. Want to give a special thanks to Bob who was very informative and excellent in taking time with the grandkids sharing his knowledge. The memories and information will last a lifetime time

Fantastic experience: Nice place. It's small and doesn't take a lot of time to go through. You can touch stingrays. View tanks of turtles from an observation deck that are hospitalized. They had several different species of owls, falcons and hawks to view. There were also different tanks of fish to view. Nice gift shop too.

Fantastic experience: I don't even know where to start. We took our daughter here today as sea turtles are her favorite animal. It was amazing!!! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and you could tell they all genuinely love their jobs. They went the extra mile putting on an off schedule reptile enteraction for my daughter as the next one wasn't for 2 hours and we were ready to go. The sting rays put on a show and were splashing us and being able to feed them was so cool. This place is worth checking and giving back to as the work they do is incredible.

Fantastic experience: If you have never gone GO! We went for turtle tots with my 2/4y girls and we had the MOST amazing time. I was greeted at the entrance by the most cheerful employee. We paid $7 and this should have cost more. We arrived early and we enjoyed the center, got to touch and feed the sea rays, saw the turtles being fed and got information from all the lovely employees. The amazing people of the program took us down the beach and had stations set up and even a tent for shade for reading time. I mean just amazing, every employee super fun and dedicated. My girls learned soooo much. We will be back. Thank your for a fun day!

Fantastic experience: Small science center, but very well done. It's a functioning rescue, which seems to be the main operation, but the education is excellent and well thought out. There could be better directions around the property. Everyone had a good time, and it would make a good pairing with the lighthouse property.

Caroline Kanzigg 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Highly educational, fun and interactive. I cannot say enough good things about this place it was AWESOME!! Friendly knowledgeable staff. Stingray touch tank was so cute. We saw them helping an injured turtle and feed sea horses. We were only there for an hour but bought a family pass for only 60$ and will be back to spend more time

Fantastic experience: I'm really not sure why anyone would give this place less than 5 stars, but anyway, I really enjoyed my visit, and can't wait to get the opportunity to return!

Fantastic experience: What a fun experience for kids and adults! The staff are very welcoming, knowledgeable, and dedicated to the cause. We had a blast feeding the stingrays and meeting Toby the snake! Stop by, show your support and have a great time!

Positive experience: 8 bucks a piece is a little steep for what the visit entails, but I'm happy to support anything that supports wildlife rehab. I was just surprised, as it's always been free to visit. Limited parking. Touch tank of stingrays, and a view of the Turtle hospital.nearby playground , lighthouse ($) and restarant. Go.

Fantastic experience: A very cool little place! Staff was knowledgeable, attentive, and very friendly. All the animals here are so cool. Loved the addition of the big birds

Positive experience: Museum itself was lovely, one staff member was so passionate about her work and made it fun. Word of warning — Do not plan to visit at the end of the day. Doors were closing and locking behind us starting at 10min before close. All fine if they made that public, but for anyone trying to sneak in at the end of the day for the last 30 min, plan on only 10min of that time being enjoyable. Remaining staff seemed to only care about leaving right at advertised closing time.

Fantastic experience: The Marine science center is a small place with big experiences. The ray tank is everyone's favorite . You can watch turtles get medical care, seahorses find a mate, and birds be rehabilitated. The informative lectures are incredible and hands on. Inspirational for both young and old. A great organization. Buy a season pass, it pays for itself in 3 visits. Look at their schedule for special events; including turtle releases.

Positive experience: Volusia County sponsored, great exhibits, turtle rescue, and raptor rescue. Small but reasonably priced. The kids loved it.

Fantastic experience: Nice place for kids. We enjoyed ourselves. Got to feed the stingrays.

Fantastic experience: Great experience at the Marine Science Center!! We had an educational review of the center that included a medical procedure on a turtle, a super special treat to feed the stringrays, close-up views of spectacular fish, and bird sanctuary!!! The facility is also a rescue and rehabilitation center!! It was awesome and the staff was very helpful!! Thank you ❤️

Jennifer Medina 1 year ago

Positive experience: Nice place to visit. However I feel like they should expand just a little more and add more marine life to the actual aquarium also the turtles should be put in a nice big open pool where you can look right at them through a looking Glass that would be nice. They should also add a coloring activity station so kids can enjoy coloring marine life pictures.

Fantastic experience: Great little rescue and rehabilitation facility for marine life - specifically sea turtles. Very clean, very intimate setting with the marine life, and extremely knowledgeable volunteers. Definitely would go again and again.

Fantastic experience: We visited on a Sunday in January. It was not very crowded. The place is not very large, but there is a lot of really interesting exhibits to see if you are into this stuff. We loved the touch pool, saw the sea horses being fed, explored the sea turtle hospital, did the nature trail, and checked out the bald eagles in the bird sanctuary. We easily spent around 1.5 - 2 hours there. They also have a nice gift shop. I can't believe I've never been here before. I'm going to look into going back with my cub scout group.

Fantastic experience: The little kids (12 & 14) enjoyed it as much as the big kids (38 & 39)! It was small enough to walk easily but big enough to be impressive. The bird exhibit was great and the ability to touch animals and see them up close was really great as well. The trail was short but also very nice!

Fantastic experience: Very family-friendly interactive learning center. Touch pool with sting rays were a highlight for the kids. I personally enjoyed the seahorse session by one of the interpreters. She was fabulous!!! Bird sanctuary and turtle ICU was eye opening to the real work being done behind the scenes. Small parking lot with overflow on the street. Took us 45 minutes to see and explore everything with a 10 yr old, teen and adults. Walked to lighthouse after for a nice afternoon out!

Positive experience: All the family found something interesting here and petting the Rays most popular!

Amanda Jolley 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: It has been awhile since I've been here, and I was excited to see the changes. We took my 3 year old niece, who loved the sting ray touch pool. They also let her touch sea urchins and feed the sting rays. I wish you could see the turtles better, but the new bird exhibits allow you to see them closely. Bob was extremely knowledgeable and went around to everyone to see what questions they had, and was helpful. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a visit, especially if you have small children.

Fantastic experience: Wow! So much to learn. Shell, Education Manager, is a walking source of energy, enthusiasm, and information. She was AWESOME interacting with us and presenting to the group. The turtle hospital is several tanks divided into different levels of care. It is very interesting to hear what they do to rehabilitate these special creatures. The sting rays are fun to watch. They are interactive with the humans around their tank. Little Gracie was quite the ham seeking attention. We were there at feeding time. Very educational and fun to watch. We even got to feed them! Cool experience!!! Fed the sharks (little ones) as well. We were also there at feeding time for the seahorses. Super neat and interesting to watch. The raptor ambassadors are beautiful with nice “homes”. Be sure to ask about them and why their environment is as such. There is also a seabird rehabilitation section. Though small. It’s wonderful as well. Great find and well worth the time and money. 2 hours and $7 each! Very accessible to all abilities.

Positive experience: There was a petting tank for stingrays. Enjoyed the educational information and the feeding of the seahorses. Several raptors and turtle tanks. Everyone was very informative! There was a schedule posted where you pay to enter.

Fantastic experience: A small facility but nice individual attention from the staff. Very educational and entertaining. Timed it right to be able to feed the stingrays.

Positive experience: It was fun and informative. We enjoyed feeding the sting rays amongst other aquatic life! Simple and enjoyable pastime even if it's something simple like this! lastly, I was surprised at how friendly and intelligent the sting rays were as they displayed being aware when it was feeding time and would swim up to onlookers while paddling their they're broadens against the tank wall as if to say hi or to get the people's attention! Most certainly a cool experience I recommend.

Fantastic experience: The staff was very friendly and very informative. They have a bird sanctuary, as well as many different salt water animals. They also informed us on how to look up information on the turtles they were rehabiliting. I appreciate these guys for everything they are doing to help save these turtles/birds.

Fantastic experience: Great place for all ages and if you get lucky to meet Ana, she’s full of knowledge and will wow you with info. The sting rays are awesome and we got the chance to feed them. And what they do with REHABILITATION for the animals it’s well worth to see for yourself. Once you’re done with the sting rays and turtles, check out the bird rehabilitation exhibits. Have fun Enjoy your travels

Fantastic experience: Super fun experience for all ages! It wasn’t too busy and it was relatively cheap for me and my family of four. We got feed the sting rays which was really cool and the staff was super friendly and really great with kids. I loved all the stuff they had to offer and would come back and see it again. Although it is educational, it is also a rescue center so the are always rehabilitating animals to release back into the wild if they are able to. So take your kids here and see all the fish and seahorses and sting rays they have to offer. And sea turtles! And birds! It is a bit of a pet peeve of mine but I always want to mention a good bathroom when I see one. The bathrooms here were super clean, you can tell this is a place that is well taken care of. Really thought the staff was great.

Fantastic experience: The Marine Science Center was the high-light of my visit to Volusia County. In my mind it’s perfect. The entry fee is very reasonable ($35 for my family of 5) and for that reason we were able to shop in the gift shop! The exhibits were well done and very educational. My 11 year old son enjoyed the touch tank the most. The cow nose rays loved the attention. The most important part of our visit (and of the facility in my mind) was the rehab center for the turtles and the birds. I was especially impressed with how well the touch screen computer program communicates to visitors the stories of all of the patients!! I literally read EVERY ONE! Thank you for that!! If I lived in the area, I would love to volunteer and help take care of the animals!! Maybe week- long eco programs for volunteers??? Just an idea!

Fantastic experience: Awesome place for a short visit! Many things to do and see! There’s a touch you can touch stingrays! They’re so cute and playful! It’s a great place for kids! It is a small place, so don’t plan on this being an all-day excursion but it’s very inexpensive, educational and fun!!

Fantastic experience: A great time for a small price! Admission for a family of four cost roughly $26. You can start off with their bird center where they have pelicans, eagles, owls, and other birds of prey. From there you can enter the science center, which is handicap accessible. They have multiple aquariums and a turtle terrarium. The highlight is the sting ray tank, where kids can pet the friendly rays. From there, tourists can proceed to the viewing area for the sea turtle rehabilitation center. There’s also a classroom setting where you can view snakes, turtles, and learn a little biology about reptiles. They are currently building a new raptor (bird of prey) center. Just 15-20 minutes south of Daytona, FL. Just under the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse.

Jacob Adamczak 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: This is a MUST visit if you love marine life. The value of the Marine Science Center is outstanding. Being able to to get up close with sting rays, watch seahorses get fed and learn all about their rehabilitation efforts is outstanding. Take a few hours and stop here if you’re at Ponce Inlet. Not only will you help support their efforts, you’ll learn something along the way.

Fantastic experience: The different aquariums were so full of variety, and getting to watch feeding time with the rays was exciting for the kids. Really a good inexpensive tourist stop for families. The bird exhibit was neat too.

Fantastic experience: We got so lucky and got to see the release of 2 green sea turtles that were at the hospital for several months and were healthy to go back to their habitat. Also feed stingrays and seahorses. Great experience and good for kids to learn about so many animals. Very friendly and dedicated staff.

Fantastic experience: Small facility packed with very informed passionate staff. My son LOVED the touch tank, he didn’t want to leave Chip, Queso, Poseidon, Pancake (favorite b/c of his left turn swim,) and the only lady stingray, Gracie- ask me how long we stayed to learn all the thing!!! He wants to work with a rehab center when he grows up! Wish that the rehabbing turtles had a better viewing area. All of them are not able to be seen from the viewing deck. They do have a glass viewing area (with an overhead camera streamed to a TV) that visitors are able to watch while turtles were being examined. Bird section (a slight walk down from main building) was like a mini zoo path. Also, wish they had cuter stuffed turtles (and Bella canvas souvenir shirts)in the gift shop. We found plenty of items to purchase though, including a bracelet with a link to track our own turtle!

Fantastic experience: My husband and I came to visit on vacation, and we absolutely loved it. The staff were very knowledgeable and sweet, and genuinely seemed to care about the animals they were taking in. They had a ton of patience with people who were hesitant to touch the sting rays, including the kids that seemed a bit scared. Getting to pet a sting ray was an amazing experience, and we left with a new appreciation for sea life. Definitely a highlight of our trip, and we hope to come back someday.

Fantastic experience: Happily made use of $5 veteran's and student's discounted admission for my husband and myself, total of $10. Visited for the first time today (Tuesday) around 3pm. Polite professional welcome desk /admission counter lady. Facilities overall seemed relatively clean despite the larger families and kids in attendance. The touch tank with the rays were a big hit (we did not touch them but there were lots of adults and kids who had fun doing that). My favorite was the horseshoe crab hiding in the corner. The birds were more interesting to us than the turtles or fish since we enjoyed the silly interactions. My husband sang to Anastasia the cedar waxwing who sang back, which was nice. Zeppelin the red-tailed hawk took a liking to my husband as well, playing hide and seek behind the wooden post before the handler gave it an early dinner of a large rat and some baby rats (dead of course). Never saw a hawk eat before so we were morbidly fascinated. Worth the admission fee. Would return again

Fantastic experience: Amazing place. The volunteers are very knowledgeable and has so many interesting facts. We did the stingray feeding (what an amazing experience), the sea horse feeding (learned so much about sea horses) and the turtle rehab centre (did you know that turtles cry?), and we met Cooper the Coopers Hawk. So beautiful. Thank you for the amazing experience. Keep up the great work you do here.

Positive experience: This honestly should be rebranded as a rehabilitation center on Google, and not a science center. That being said it is an interesting place to stop in and see. All the staff were very friendly and informative, as much as they could be. They do not have a large selection of marine life to view, but again it's a rehabilitation center. But what they do have, they will gladly talk to you about, and answer any question you may have.

Fantastic experience: Small indoor petting pool where sting rays come to the side and you can pet them. Really cool. The gift shop is small but I splurged and bought several things.

Fantastic experience: Love going here when we are in Florida. Kids loving seeing the hurt sea turtle getting help. They have a petting area so you can touch rays. It's not a big place but they have fun stuff you can see. They added a wild bird refuge. That we haven't see before. They had different birds like horn owl, eagles, falcon, barn owl and others.

Positive experience: Nice little spot, especially if you have kids. Definitely geared more towards them. Still, for $8 not a bad way to waste 30min.

Fantastic experience: Had the BEST afternoon at the Marine Science Center! Lori was so helpful and knowledgeable ❤️ we spent most of our time at the stingray pool, we even got to feed them! Highly suggest on a rainy day or just some out of the sun time

Fantastic experience: Had a great day with family here learning about marine animals and rescued turtles. Staff answered all my questions about turtles and sting rays very informative. Very clean bathrooms, nice picnic area with drink machine and a small gift shop. Cost $8 for adult and $5 for child well worth it we donated extra.

Fantastic experience: Small but very nice place. Volunteers are very informative and enthusiastic. Was able to watch staff working on a rescued turtle that had been hit by a car. Was fascinating to watch the procedure.

Fantastic experience: So glad that it is finally open again! Had a super fun time! I was able to watch three presentations that were very informative as well as entertaining for everyone. Definitely recommend this for anyone with children of any age even us children who are 45 LOL. Touching the rays was definitely a great experience and learning more about them helps us to appreciate the ocean that we love so much.
