🗣️ Jenkinson's Aquarium: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Although this aquarium is not one of those large institutions, what really shocked me was the animals they raised there. Many of them were rescued animals from all over the place. Although these little cuties have been through a lot, they are obviously living happily here. Each one is fat and healthy. The aquarium told the story of their rescue very considerately. I was very moved by everything they did for the rescue!
Fantastic experience: A cute aquarium with a surprising number of exhibits for it not being very large. Some animals require more generosity than others to be considered aquatic (I'm looking at you, sloth!) It takes about a half hour to walk through, or an hour if you've got young kids like me who want to meet and greet the animals at every tank. The seals are playful, the jellyfish are mesmerizing, and the penguins are hilarious. It's a nice break from the heat, cool and dark inside, and you can re-enter all day with a hand stamp all day. Visited 7/4/25. #ExitThroughTheGiftShop #FourthofJuly
Fantastic experience: I've always loved going here as a kid and i ws able to bring in my 1 year old. She was trying to have a conversation with the penguins it was so cute
Fantastic experience: Family friendly professional staff. Touch tank it was great!
Fantastic experience: Never knew about this place even though born & raised in Monmouth . This place was delightful!! Staff were very cordial & knowledgeable. Reasonably priced. Great for kids & families. Very educational & fun. Great gift shop!!
Fantastic experience: The kids, both big and small, love it! It is a small but very interesting aquarium. Lots to see. We always enjoy ourselves!
Fantastic experience: I was so surprised how nice an aquarium it was for being on the boardwalk. We saw the seals and penguins being fed. The last photo is of a sloth holding a stuffed animal sloth. So cute!!!
Fantastic experience: We found this to be a small but fun aquarium on the boardwalk. It was a fun stop and part of our day on the beach. We enjoyed reading about the different animals and their stories. Adults and kids had a great time!
Fantastic experience: We enjoyed each exhibit with the enthusiasm of the audience. Waiting to be part of the feedings! Definitely worth the time and money spent!!
Fantastic experience: Awesome time spent with family
Fantastic experience: Loved it... my 2 year old and 8 month old were soo fascinated with the animals
Fantastic experience: The penguin, yes, the African penguin here are the stars. The aquarium itself is nice. They have a good variety of fish, big sharks, turtles, .... yeah, and more. The penguin they are so friendly they will come by the glass to great you. You have to go see them. Super good place for children, too. Go go A+
Fantastic experience: We had a great family day at the Jenkinsons aquarium. We especially loved seeing the penguins getting fed and appreciated the engaging and informative presentation by Liam! Thank you for teaching us and adding to our fun day Liam :)
Fantastic experience: Loved the shark tank! Penguins are so cute!
Fantastic experience: Honestly, walked by this place so many times in my youth and figured it wasn't worth my time.... I was absolutely wrong it was a lovely little aquarium. It is not all that big big but spent a significant amount of time in there and it was absolutely lovely. Don't hesitate about heading in a fantastic time!!!
Positive experience: Brought family from out of town. Stayed about 1.5 hours. They had children's activities, enough to keep my grandaughter busy, and a mermaid showing to impress the young ones. This is a local Aquarium with small ocean animals (seals, fish, sharks, others), plants, some parrots, monkeys, etc . Parking available at the Aquarium. Right on the boardwalk.
Fantastic experience: A lovely place to visit with children. They will love all the animals they have.. they even allowed to touch some shell fish.. overall it was a great experience.
Negative experience: Would not let me pay senior price to use a coupon for my grandson. Then cashier took someone from back if line who pushed his way through. Mediocre place at best. Not returning with my other grands.
Fantastic experience: Perfect size. Lots to see. Clean. Affordable price. Very friendly staff. Jyst right for little one and older adults.
Fantastic experience: A little smaller than I remember, and I feel the shark and seal tanks are too small for them, but what do I know? lol. Clean place, friendly people, and a great environment adorable animal's.
Fantastic experience: We did a family outing to Point Pleasant it was exactly what my 7month old daughter needed she was staring at all of the fishes and the sea lions, but she loved looking in the tank of all the big fishes. Then up and down the boardwalk she was just amazed at looking at all of the rides stores sounds. We will be back for sure.
Fantastic experience: The place is small and you can run the place in less than 1 hour. It is good if you can find parking outside and save the $20 for the parking. It's super clean and doesn't smell bad. The only employee very nice is the one on the star fish. She is very nice, the other are very quiet.
Negative experience: I was not impressed by this aquarium compared to the others located in New Jersey. Also this aquarium is not infant/stroller friendly and has no elevator and the lift is only for wheelchair. For an establishment that gets a lot of children it should have an elevator to accommodate everyone who visits. Especially at a location like this one of seaside heights. Overall I felt paying $36 for my husband and I, only to not be able to go upstairs and only see limited things on the ground floor was not worth it at all. Also if you visit the gift shop you have to leave the aquarium completely and enter from the main entrance again. I feel as though there should be an employee communicating that in the between hallway of the gift shop and the aquarium and giving reentry stamps. It was a bit inconsiderate during what was literally off season and an hour to closing of the aquarium, to really send us out in to the rain with a baby because we visited the gift shop and didn’t know we needed a stamp. After I barely had even been in the aquarium in the first place. Will never return to this aquarium.
Fantastic experience: Very nice aquarium on the Point Pleasant boardwalk. I took my grandson at age four and he had a great time. The price of admission is a lot less than other aquariums, but it is on the smaller side.
Fantastic experience: Jenkinson’s is just off the boardwalk, right by the beach. Inside, you’ll find sharks, stingrays, fish, and even penguins. Oh, and there were two seals—they were absolutely adorable. Head upstairs, and you’ll find a touch tank, a sloth, some birds, and a massive megalodon mouth you can actually stand inside. The whole place makes you feel like you’re underwater, surrounded by these incredible creatures.
Positive experience: I always am impressed by something new every time I go to Jenkinson's Aquarium. It never ceases to amaze me! I noticed a different exotic animal like an octopus every time I go.There is a huge variety of marine life. I can tell the animals are cared for very well. There is no doubt about it from the bright toads to tiny fish swimming in schools. The staff is very professional and courteous. The aquarium is very well suited for education and there are informational posters all around. It is a good place to bring kids because of the interactive area where you can pet starfish. In addition, there is a photo booth. Kids won't be bored at all. The gift shop has a wide selection of sea themed toys and novelties. The gift shop has almost something for every one. The aquarium features rescue seals and is all about helping marine habitats.
Fantastic experience: Had a great time. Not a big place but a perfect size for a day trip. Right on the beach, boardwalk.
Fantastic experience: Have been going to Point Pleasant Beach for years but never to the aquarium. And I'm so happy we finally went. It has a little bit of everything, which makes it a perfect place to go with the family. Will definitely be going back!
Fantastic experience: Wonderful aquarium! So much to see! Very clean and well cared for. Fun staff! Loved every minute!
Fantastic experience: Cool and cute aquarium featuring exhibits about both local wildlife and aquatic ecosystems worldwide. Offers good deal packages that include other parts of the Jenkinson's Boardwalk attractions. Great for families with small children too, check out the touch tank!
Positive experience: Jenkinson's Aquarium in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ offers a charming and educational experience that's perfect for families seeking a brief indoor adventure. Situated directly on the boardwalk, this two-story facility is dedicated to marine life education. Despite its modest size, the aquarium boasts a diverse array of exhibits. Visitors can marvel at A few sharks, vibrant coral reefs and a variety of colorful ocean fish. Interactive touch tanks provide hands-on learning opportunities, while the harbor seals and African penguins offer engaging viewing experiences. The second floor introduces guests to a very sleepy sloth and an array of tropical birds, adding a bit more zoo to the marine-focused exhibits. Admission prices are reasonable, reflecting the aquarium's size and the quality of exhibits. However, be prepared for crowds, especially on weekend mornings, which can make navigation through the exhibits a bit tight. The visit concludes through a gift shop, and the surrounding boardwalk is filled with rides and games, which can add to the day's expenses if you're accompanied by eager children. Jenkinson's Aquarium serves as a delightful, albeit brief, escape from the elements, offering educational and entertaining exhibits that captivate both children and adults. While the experience may be short-lived, it's a worthwhile stop for families visiting the Jersey Shore
Fantastic experience: Staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The aquarium is perfect for younger kids since it's pretty small, you can make a normal pass through without feeling rushed or worrying that you'll miss something before your little one needs a nap or food.
Fantastic experience: I've been coming here since I was a young child and I've always loved this aquarium. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable, and the building itself was very kept up and lovely. The animals were gorgeous and happy which is always a good thing!!
Fantastic experience: The aquarium was clean and very kid freindly. Would recommend to parents with with tiny walkers as most exhibits are at their level. Aquarium is much smaller then Camden but filled with alot. I say this is a great spot!!!
Fantastic experience: We went twice yesterday! They stamp your hand for a day pass and we loved it so much we went back after lunch! Staff was readily available to give information talks and answer questions. Absolutely spotless space for people and the main attractions! Must see if you have an hour or so!
Fantastic experience: I remember going here for a trip years ago it was so fun, I love going here in the summer and the boardwalk, the food n snacks there are always so good! Love coming here!
Fantastic experience: Had so much fun sharing it with our 2 year old granddaughter. She loved Turbo the seal.
Fantastic experience: A quick trip down or up the Garden State Parkway to Point Pleasant famous Jenkinson's Aquarium . Excellent for Rainy Days and Animal Lovers.♡
Fantastic experience: Used to visit when I was a kid and it’s still great all these years
Fantastic experience: I loved the aquarium, we came right in time for the penguin feeding! Very cute, large gift shop and they sell the cool animal tracker “Fahlo” bracelets!! I added the picture of a sloth sleeping with a sloth toy, axolotl, etc., below :)
Fantastic experience: This place is compact but adorable. The critters are all very used to people so they come up to the glass and interact. The staff is very helpful and the amount of staff they have for the size of the place is excellent. My little ones loved it!
Fantastic experience: It was such a great afternoon. Went to Tea By The Sea! Nicole, Carlos and Sam were so knowledgeable and fun! This was my first time at the Aquarium, but it won't be my last.
Fantastic experience: I have been taking my daughter here for about 18 years. Small but lovely aquarium (The size is perfect for smaller kids or a shorter visit.). Nice variety of fish with some sharks. The penguins are always a big hit. Great place to visit all year. There may be school or camp visitors but they are confined to a window at a time so you can move around them and then go back to see what you missed. Even with the summer crowds, we never had an issue with seeing everything.
Fantastic experience: I love this place. I've been coming here for years. There's a lot of things to do here. There's tons of arcades multiple different locations right on the boardwalk. There's tons of different food options from seafood to fast food to fast casual. The prices range. You can have a really expensive day or you can have a very very budgeted day. I mean this boardwalk is for everyone
Fantastic experience: Great experience…staff informative and willing to engage ….so many interesting exhibits… clean… inhabitants well cared for… the size is manageable and not overwhelming. A wonderful day… highly recommend it.
Positive experience: Way too expensive for such a small place. But the workers are all very nice. Place is clean and animals are well cared for.
Fantastic experience: Jenkinson’s is a really fun outing; perfect for my 7 year old and her friends (some of which are older). It’s located in the middle of so many other fun things (boardwalk, arcade, restaurants), so it’s definitely worth the visit! Highly recommend.
Positive experience: Nice aquarium on the boardwalk. We visited during the kids Noon Years Eve event day. They had a wonderful array of activities planned - penguin meet and greet, meet a mermaid, touch tank, etc. Free parking in the winter, too. It became extremely crowded after a bit, to the point we couldn't walk through, but we enjoyed it before that (right when it opened). We tried to exit through the entrance since the regular exit was blocked with people. Had tried waiting, but there was no way out. We were trying to manage a panic attack from the excessive crowds, and the staff would not let us leave through the entrance door, despite being a foot away from it. They insisted we had to go back through the entire aquarium, pushing through crowds, and wait to exit. It felt extremely unnecessary given the circumstances and was a very unpleasant experience. Another plan needs to be in place when it is at capacity like that. Would love to return on a non-event day, or when better measures are in place for excessive crowds, as the animals and aquarium itself were lovely.
Fantastic experience: 18$ for adults and you get a lot of awesome animals to see! Absolutely worth it. I been there twice and have no regrets. Updated second floor is looking very nice. They also have an aquarium where you can touch some creatures. Come and see it yourself.
Fantastic experience: For $18, this aquarium is really worth it. It is small, but they've got a lot in there. Numerous breeds of sharks, sting rays, penguins, sea lions, eels, they even have a sloth. Great visit for kids.
Fantastic experience: Great small aquarium. Run privately by the family. Doing good ocean and animal research. Very nice exhibits. All the animals are rescues that would not survive in the wild. Many small ones are bred on site. Seal is missing a flipper from infection. Owl can't see well. My favorite is the sloth!
Fantastic experience: Christmas time at Jenk’s was the perfect place to bring a newborn on a cold winter day! The aquarium is decorated throughout with lights, which may have been my son’s favorite part. At the pavillion across the boardwalk, we were able to meet Santa, get some food, and dance with Olaf from Frozen.
Fantastic experience: Great small aquarium to spend a few hours reconnecting with special creatures. Mango, the greeting Fiddler Ray, is just the beginning. So many amazing creatures to explore and appreciate. Watch the penguin feed or the seals play, even small monkeys and even axolotl! Do not miss, especially great for grandparents to take grandchildren IMHO ♥️
Fantastic experience: Great aquarium. The pirate ship is something you don’t see everywhere. I saw the penguin feeding and the fish around the pirate ship. They got into the Halloween spirit with their decorations too. There is some nice coral in a few of the smaller tanks upstairs.
Fantastic experience: Amazing aquarium. It might not be gigantic, but the size will not bother you when you enter and see what they got. Employees are super friendly, and I am talking about the ticket master, guide, trainers. everyone. Must check out and not too expensive either!
Fantastic experience: Had an awesome time the workers were always generous to talk about the animals explain things they were very helpful they do have a side elevator if someone can't walk up the steps or needs brochure access and you can leave and go eat if you like at the other establishments and you can come back with your stamp for your wristband and it causes nothing extra for the stamp
Fantastic experience: Amazing place! More than just aquatic life. Staff quite friendly and personable. Home run
Fantastic experience: Loved this aquarium, a must if you have kids. Cute, and right off the beach.
Fantastic experience: I had the best aquarium experience! Staff were super friendly and knowledgeable! Great display of aquatic species!
Fantastic experience: First time going into the aquarium although we have walk past it many times! It's small but we loved it. It was my grown daughter and I. We took our time and really enjoyed looking at the sharks, sting rays, penguins, crabs etc. The decor is cool with the big pirate ship in the middle. It was also very clean and nice the way it was set up. Nice gift shop as well.
Fantastic experience: Amazing I come here every time we visit the Jersey shore area
Fantastic experience: We came there for the shark feeding, and to see the penguins, the service was great. They had an amazing aquarium, one of the best I have gone to. They where small but had a vast verity, also had a review area to get feedback. And had a gift shop with good gifts and personal items like stuffed animals, magnets, ornaments, clothes, and cups in the back
Fantastic experience: We went after 8 when the admission price is 50% off so it made it even more family friendly. The aquarium itself has an impressive selection of aquatic life, and some great animals upstairs as well. While it's not as big as a zoo, the selection of creatures housed here is very nice. The habitats are beautiful and the animals seem well taken care of. They have a wheelchair lift making both floors handicap accessible, and the gift shop has a wide variety of memorabilia at family friendly price points.
Fantastic experience: Good for families and kids. The boardwalk is full of games and local resturants, food and candy stores and arcades.
Fantastic experience: Childhood favorite. Took my family here because they were visiting from Maryland and they had a lot of fun. Such a cute aquarium
Fantastic experience: I recently visited the Aquarium and had an amazing experience. The highlight was the 360-degree tank that immersed visitors in a vibrant underwater world filled with fish, rays, and sharks. The exhibits were both educational and visually stunning, and the staff were knowledgeable and passionate. The aquarium’s focus on sustainability and conservation was impressive. Overall, it’s a captivating and inspiring destination for anyone interested in marine life. - written by chat gpt
Fantastic experience: Lots of fun. The gift shop is nice too.
Positive experience: It's nice a little small but very nice very friendly and different types of fish and reptiles
Fantastic experience: It's small, but I think that's the great part about it with little kids. We spent over an hour there with two 22 months olds and a 4 year old. They loved it. Totally adorable.
Fantastic experience: Such a nice place! We go every year. I love all the fish especially the sharks! They have an amazing seal feeding, they do tricks and are rescues. Very clean n beautiful. People are very nice. Also if your handicapped there is an elevator to go upstairs. U just have to ask the person to unlock it. No big deal. Lots of Fun for kids n adults alike. It costs $13 to get in I believe. Right on the boardwalk in pt. Pleasant.
Fantastic experience: It’s pretty impressive for a small local aquarium. They have some sizable sharks and adorable seals, plus some really cute penguins. It only a 1-2 hour experience. We happened to be there for the seal feeding which was just precious.
Positive experience: This is definitely not worth $18/person. Although they have a few different species of stingrays that were of interest it's not a very large or expensive aquarium. Multiple frog exhibits (too many) for what could have been displayed. A display of jelly fish and stingrays up front then a couple other displays containing more stingrays with sharks and not, a few Penguins, seals, some sharks and not many varieties of fish..... Yeh it's nice and clean but that's really about it. Your ticket or stamp gets you all day access until they close so if it's hot out that may be a good diversion for the little kids. But otherwise your teens are probably not going to be that interested.
Fantastic experience: Wonderfully well kept aquarium. It can be easily within one hour. Or, you can spend an hour just looking at the cute penguins✌️
Fantastic experience: Good variety of species and nice to walk around and come back to throughout the day.
Fantastic experience: Really nice, well maintained small aquarium worthy of a visit! We loved Jenkinson’s! Located right on the boardwalk, this aquarium was great to visit! It may appear small but what you get to see is amazing & well cared for. All the staff was friendly & eager to share facts about the animals in the exhibits. The aquarium itself was clean, easy to explore & the animals looked super healthy & cared for! We loveddddd the penguin exhibit - honestly, the penguins alone was worth the visit. They all were super healthy, happy & we loved learning about them with their little beaded bracelets which you can learn their names & age on a screen next to the exhibit. The bracelets are color coded so you can see the penguins name you are looking at. Another highlight was the sloth! Wally the sloth was napping but we were able to see him in his exhibit up close to the glass. They also have 2 seals that do a feeding show twice a day which we got lucky to witness! Such a beautiful aquarium that focuses on keeping the animals they have healthy VS packing in as much as they can for views which was nice. Well worth the $18 pp entry cost!
Fantastic experience: We live in the area and we visit throughout the year and it’s always a great experience! The kids love it and the animals are well taken care of. Shout out to Elizabeth for all of the knowledge she shared with us about the marine life exhibits. She answered all of our questions, so was very friendly and we could see and feel her passion for each creature within the aquarium. She also mentioned a bunch of events that we are super excited to attend.
Fantastic experience: Small Aquarium with knowledgable staff. Conservation friendly. Love hearing about the backstories of many of the residents. Family oriented. Love it so much I adopted a nurse shark named Junior!
Fantastic experience: We love this aquarium! It's a good size with an upstairs area to watch the scheduled sea lion feedings, to see tropical birds, some mammals (monkeys and a sloth), owls, turtles, a touch tank, the top view of the shark tank and more! Downstairs has scheduled penguin feedings and all sorts of marine life such as sharks, fish, mantarays, an eel, and more. What's best about this aquarium is that it is wheelchair accessible, suitable for all ages, interactive, clean, educational, and a fun midday activity to do with your family and friends. The gift shop has everything and is just too cute! We've gone here many, many times and every time is the best time!
Fantastic experience: Smaller Aquarium, not so overwhelming for kids and adults, very hands on and fun for the kids
Fantastic experience: The staff was excellent in providing an explanation into the everday activities and lives of the animals! Great place for children!
Fantastic experience: We went for a class trip and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. It's a pretty small aquarium with two floors. Great for dates or small groups. Not very wheelchair friendly. Although they do have a very small "elevator " if you're claustrophobic, it wouldn't be for you. I literally had to lean over my student in her wheelchair. My favorite were the seals. They're too cute and very playful. One of sharks came straight for us, got a close up picture with his smile full of teeth. Say "CHEESE", he did.
Fantastic experience: Relaxing and enjoyable. The new updates are great. We enjoyed learning and seeing the sharks, seals, penguins, and more. I can sit and watch the different fishes for hours.
Fantastic experience: Love this little aquarium. Got to see all the cute animals there and the nice woman there was very help to tell my mom and I about the animals. Pointed out 3 specific penguins for us. So thank you I don’t know what your name was. Here’s some of the animals from the aquarium
Fantastic experience: Really cool place! It's a small aquarium, but there's a lot to see and everyone who works there is so clearly passionate about the animals and their care.
Positive experience: Very small for the price of $18 per person. The staff, were very nice and informative, knowledgeable, and courteous. Great place for kids if you want them educated and excited about wildlife. Great way to pass an hour's time.
Fantastic experience: We love this little aquarium and go every time we come to point pleasant boardwalk. Nice variety of animals, thoughfully laid our displays, friendly staff and nice feeding experiences (penguin and seal) to watch. The animals seem happy and well cared for and the aquarium lets you get a hand stamp to return later in the day if you want..convenient hours as well!
Fantastic experience: I took my grandson today and was so impressed with the staff and upgrades. Excellent! We had such a good time.
Fantastic experience: Went last Sunday with my sister and her family. Was grateful it was not busy,as there were 3000 peeps on the beach for the egg hunt. The kids loved it.
Fantastic experience: We enjoyed ALL the interesting creatures. Especially found the Xingu River Rays, Wobbegongs, Fiddler Rays, and eels interesting.
Fantastic experience: Great place to spend an hour or two exploring some amazing sea life. Check out the feeding times to plan your trip accordingly and don’t miss the seals or the penguins!
Fantastic experience: Beautiful place very family-friendly, but adults can have some fun too. Worth the price.
Positive experience: Happily surprised about the diversity of the exhibits and how well run everything was. Great place for kids and adults alike. Seal feeding and penguin display were awesome.
Fantastic experience: This Aquarium is small, yet there is enough to see. Jenkinson’s have penguins, which are so adorable, a precious sloth and a beautiful seal. The employees are wonderful, they are caring, informative and they are doing a fantastic job. My family had a great time.
Positive experience: It’s a cute little spot in point pleasant beach. Fun place to visit, can take around an hour to see the whole place.
Fantastic experience: We went during a weekday in january so it was not busy and while it is a smaller aquarium, the small amount of people there made our time amazing!! The staff walking around was very friendly and informative of all the animals and the entire aquarium as well as the bathroom was very clean we will definitely be back thank you! (:
Fantastic experience: This is a great little aquarium! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. They were also so incredibly willing to answer questions. I loved the penguins the most, but all the exhibits are beautiful and well done. It's obvious that all the animals are very well taken care of.
Positive experience: Very clean compared to other larger aquariums. Variety of different species - scheduled small shows like feeding the sea lion and the touch tank. It can get a little cramped when there's a lot of people, otherwise quick little distraction for the kids on a rainy day.
Fantastic experience: Been going since I was a little kid, penguin pictured is one my dad "adopted" for me. We're both 25 years old, and the attendees there were sure to tell me all about her and what I've missed in between. Could not have been happier with the experience.
Fantastic experience: Had a great time at the Jenkinson's Aquarium. It is small but they have a wide variety of animals, including penguins and river rays. It is a great stop, especially for families with younger children.
Positive experience: I went here with my family and cousins and it was fun! I enjoyed looking around and taking pictures! The only down side was the top floor was closed off when I went so I only got to see the one floor. But I will definitely go back!
