Fantastic experience: about the only pics I took but it was amazing and awesome 1st experience.

Negative experience: Tigers do not belong in an aquarium. These beautiful animals are built to roam, hunt, and live in wide, open spaces. The Denver Aquarium, no matter how well-intentioned, cannot provide the space or environment these two tigers need to thrive. There’s nowhere for them to run, no natural terrain to explore, and no meaningful stimulation. It's heartbreaking to see such powerful creatures confined to such a small, indoor, artificial enclosure.

Christine L 2 months ago

Fantastic experience: A little smaller than I thought but such a cute aquarium! Plenty of open space to weave through the crowds. All of the aquatic animals are beautiful and adorable. We could spend about an hour there and it was so much fun. Definitely recommend buying tickets online since we were able to bypass majority of the lines by purchasing the tickets online on our phones when we got there. Now for my standard comments. This location is clean and well kept.

Negative experience: SKIP THIS ONE. My sister and I went with fairly low expectations and it met them. Some of the smallest enclosures I've seen and so many fish were not doing well, clearly injured and stressed. Sharks and fish alike had glassy eyes, oftengoing blind, while many had their eyes gouged or were missing their eyes *entirely*. It was alarming. In the freshwater section, many of the fish had open wounds. The octopus tank was teeny tiny for such a huge, intelligent creature. Same for some of the snakes. Many of the enclosures had fake plants or fake coral and lacked anything engaging for animals to interact with. There was one pretty cool section that was about flash floods in the desert, like nothing I have seen. But ultimately we left just feeling bad for the animals and guilty for going.

Positive experience: During a recent trip to Denver for a wedding, my family and I made a stop at the Denver Aquarium—and we’re so glad we did! It was such a fun experience for all of us. The variety of fish and sea life on display was amazing, but the highlights were definitely the shark exhibit and the interactive areas where we got to touch jellyfish and stingrays. The aquarium was very clean and well-maintained, and the free parking was definitely a plus. We were a little disappointed that we didn’t get to see the tigers or otters during our visit, but overall, it was a great environment and a memorable experience. Would definitely recommend for families visiting the area!

Negative experience: There's nor much variety, too expensive for what it has. There is also not enough space to walk and it gets very crowded. If you only have a few days in Denver I recommend skipping the aquarium

Negative experience: It's definitely fun. Don't get me wrong, but it's definitely really, really small, and there's not a lot to do or look at here. And for the price of admission, you'll be better off going somewhere else that's worth it with your money. Granted, it is the only aquarium in denver, but it's not a very good one for the price they're trying to sell it for

Fantastic experience: I purchased tickets on June 1st to go on the 21st, but then we found out that we would not be able to go that weekend. I called and requested a refund, and was told that I would receive one, however, as of the 20th, I had not received a refund. I called on the 20th and was told I would be connected with the box office, but after a minute of silence, I got the main menu. Each time we called, we were hung up on, until we used a new phone. I still have not been able to talk with anyone. I've been to the aquarium, we enjoyed it, but this is the worst customer service I've experienced, I am extremely disappointed, and I will not be returning. *Edit* someone called me this morning and said they are refunding our tickets. I should see it in 3-5 business days. I'll change my review when I receive the refund. Still have no email receipt for said refund. *Second edit* my refund was in my checking account the same day, a Saturday no less. Thank you for taking care of our needs. When I called each time we used a new phone someone would answer and then each subsequent call from that number was not. We felt avoided. But a same day refund is the level of service that can set a business apart.

Positive experience: Plenty to see and do. Was crowded, so we had to wait until a certain time to go to the exhibits. Thrift gift shop was small so there was lots of waiting for people in order to look around at all of the options to purchase. The tigers were amazing to see and there is a higher view available. The sting rays were also a highlight for my kids.

Fantastic experience: When we arrived to get our tickets, the staff at the front didn’t seem very engaged and didn’t offer much help when we had questions. Even when we entered, it felt like there wasn’t much excitement or clear guidance, especially when we asked about the mermaid viewing — in fact, the janitorial staff turned out to be the most helpful in pointing us in the right direction! Thankfully, the beauty of the aquarium itself made up for the rocky start — it truly is stunning and full of wonder. But what really made our visit special was meeting Drew. Drew was absolutely wonderful — so knowledgeable, friendly, and happy to share interesting details about the displays. He even took the time to explain why the nets are placed over the tanks at night, something we’d never known before! Drew made our visit memorable, and we’re so grateful for his kindness and enthusiasm. He’s definitely a star on the team, and because of him, this trip will be one we’ll always remember. Drew is the one in burgundy

Fantastic experience: This place is pretty amazing! Great time had here. We started off with an rsvp for the restaurant then hit the aquarium. Got a bonus when we got to see a tiger. He was a gorgeous cat! I loved this surprise! After the aquarium, we bought a ticket to see Turtle Odyssey in the 4D theatre. It's a 15 minute movie about the process of a sea turtle laying her eggs and showing how the hatched babies head out to sea then the babies grow up and return to its birth place 25 years later after finding a mate then laying it's own eggs!

Negative experience: Spending 26$ for one person for the limited stuff in here is the only wild part of this aquarium. Ask yourself, why would an aquarium have tigers? No idea, but they are there. Not the business. Go to a park, or walking around downtown is better use of your time and money. I’ve heard nothing but bad things about this place and after putting it off for some time I finally visited today and found out why. It’s like going to the DMV with fish, everyone dislikes their jobs and the place is old, dirty and smells weird. I’m baffled at how people have this place 5 stars… are these paid reviews or are people just too kind. Comparing this place to other real aquariums across the country is crazy. I would liken this place to a crazy uncle with a love for fish. Queue the canned response from whoever manages their google reviews…

Positive experience: I loved it, especially the giant tanks with all the rays, sharks, and turtles swimming around. And the tanks that you can walk through and watch them swim over you. I didn't remember the tigers that last time I visited but they were adorable. Too bad I didn't see any penguins or seals. I used City Pass as my last attraction visit.

Fantastic experience: Had a great visit to the Denver Aquarium! It took about two hours to go through the entire place at a comfortable pace — plenty of time to see all the exhibits without feeling rushed. The variety of marine life was impressive, and everything was well-maintained and engaging for both kids and adults. One of the highlights was the on-site restaurant. The atmosphere was relaxing, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, and the food was pretty good overall — definitely better than your average attraction dining experience. Whether you're a local or just visiting Denver, the aquarium makes for a fun and memorable outing. We really enjoyed our time and would absolutely recommend it for families or anyone looking for a unique way to spend an afternoon.

Negative experience: Aquarium was a fun experience until we got to the tigers. Why are there tigers at an aquarium? I would rather see tigers at a zoo where they follow regulations to ensure the well being of these animals. They seemed stressed and were pacing back and forth in their small enclosure.I would love to visit this aquarium again but I cannot support seeing tigers in an unnatural indoor enclosure.

Fantastic experience: My favorite aquarium! Haven’t been since I was little and today was great! All of the staff we encountered were very friendly. I got to see otters!!! (Which my bf will tell you is a big deal. I basically begged to leave the Omaha Zoo after seeing the otter exhibit empty.) The facility was clean and well managed. Bummer the tigers were still sleeping - but I’d give bonus stars if I could because there is a tv screen that showed them at the top of the enclosure sleeping. Genius way to let people know they’re there… but not awake just yet. Pricing was relatively fair…. What we paid for aquarium tickets here was the same price as entire zoo tickets in Omaha (which includes an aquarium of the same size), but it is Colorado… so knowing full well everything here is stupid overpriced, I’d say it was mostly reasonable.

Fantastic experience: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We absolutely love the Denver Aquarium and have been proud members for several years now! Every visit is an incredible experience—from the stunning exhibits and interactive educational programs to the animal meet-and-greets and hands-on learning opportunities. Our personal favorite has been the Marine Biologist and Zoologist for a Day programs for kids—such a unique and engaging way to spark curiosity and deepen understanding of marine life. The on-site restaurant is always a treat, and we love wrapping up our visits with a peaceful walk outside along the water or letting the kids burn off energy at the park nearby. It’s truly a full-day adventure every time! Thank you, Denver Aquarium, for making learning so fun and magical for families like ours. ✨ ** Mermaid shows happen in the restaurant on Friday nights @ 5:30 & 7:30.

Negative experience: If you have $100 (3 adults) to blow for an hour and half then this is your place. This aquarium pales in comparison to other aquariums I’ve been to. Maybe it’s because the restaurant is the highlight and not the aquarium. There was a lot of sea life there but most of the tanks are small. Nothing really excited except for the one large tank with the sharks. No seals, no penguins, but they do have 2 tigers. I don’t know why.

Negative experience: Not worth it. If you have a service animal see below. Got here and ticket line was very long. Bought tickets online, got in that line thinking it would be faster. Was told non-ticketed line was an hour long by an employee. We stood in our line a good 30 minutes to get to the counter and was told we couldn't enter for another hour. The non-ticketed line was down to 6 people at that point. Suggest waiting to prepurchase ticket until see what's happening. There were many dead fish that had not been removed from the tanks. Most of those in tanks that had many fish in them. One would think that management would make sure they were removed before opening to the public. Some of the fish had visible injuries, while the majority had what looked like a fungus/mold growing on them. Edited to add: There are also reptiles and two tigers on display. Once you get to the tigers there is a sign stating they CANNOT enter so you wouldn't be able to take the rest of the tour once you get to this point. Isn't this a violation of federal laws that service animals aren't allowed? Do not recommend.

Positive experience: It was Memorial Day weekend, which accounted for the crowds. We live in NH, but had been here once before, 4 years ago (not on a holiday weekend). This time I felt rushed, and it was sometimes difficult for the kids to see things when adults would not let them through. We were pushing not only a stroller, but an adult wheelchair, and navigating was difficult - people not only did not want to let a wheelchair through, they would not let us get it close to some of the tanks for viewing. Some of the tanks seemed very crowded (ie too many fish), and some enclosures seemed much too small for the critters being held (ie the constrictors). The tiger enclosure also seemed much too small, but if I remember they also have space behind where they are on display (still, it seems wrong that they never actually see sunshine and breathe fresh air).

Fantastic experience: This aquarium was bigger than I expected, and surprisingly had some beautiful freshwater fish as well. There were also quite a few interactive activities and exhibits, making it a great mid-sized attraction that’s perfect for a family outing. I spent about an hour here and found it to be very relaxing. There’s something about watching animals that really brings a sense of inner peace. Definitely a nice spot to unwind and enjoy at a calm pace.

Fantastic experience: What a great place to have in Denver. Parking is abundant but does have a fee. The staff is always friendly and while it seems like it'd be crowded, the flow is well maintained by the layout of the aquarium and you never feel like your stuffed in with a ton of people. I love having such a valuable learning experience in Denver that is only second to the amazing zoo across town. Both are a must for visitors.

Positive experience: How do I say this without being harsh? I'm not quite sure how this place has such a high rating unless it's primarily visited by locals that have not traveled to other states. Perhaps my bar is set high because I've been to the Georgia Aquarium & the like, but this facility was small. My first observation that left me with a bit of ick was that they advertise snorkeling/ scuba with the fish & sharks. While I'm certain they are accustomed to tank cleanings, care, etc - a best practice is not to expose wildlife to unnecessary human interaction. The next observation that irked me was that the tanks felt small & overcrowded. When I asked about it, I was told some of the tanks extend beyond the eye, but others are simply managed by controlling the quality of the water & as long as the fish can swim then it was ok. I noticed several fish piled in corners or not moving & I've never seen that before (none were dead, but I had to do a double take a couple of times). I was in/out of here in half an hour & only took that long because I happened to come upon the Tigers at feeding time. Oh yeah, Tigers at an Aquarium? They were young & looked healthy, albeit a little on the small side. Certainly not an environment one would expect to find them in & while the enclosure was nice, it too simply felt wrong. I felt wrong as an animal advocate having visited. About the only positive things I can say are: 1) the staff were friendly & nice the whole time, 2) protocol for petting the rays seemed mindful & there was hand sanitizer.

Positive experience: This place is too expensive for how long it takes to go through it. We got through the aquarium in one hour and it cost $28. The exhibits themselves were nice and I appreciate highlighting the endangered species in the Colorado River but it’s not worth it. The tigers and the otters were not out either.

Positive experience: The aquarium was spectacular! The place is well kept, the animals seemed to be happy, the atmosphere was invigorating! We loved the tigers and the rays the most. We got to feed the rays at the end and it was pretty amazing. We were more scared of them than they were of us but it was so cool to feed them. My only suggestion for the place is to put a bell or buzzer on the 4D experience or even let us know best times to come do it. We went out there to do the theater and there was nobody in sight and we didn’t want to wait out in the cold due to having a toddler. I called to see if I can get a partial refund for not being able to do the 4D, and the lady told me to just hold on to it for when I come back. I live more down south Colorado and rarely go to Denver so I’m not gonna go back there again. It’s a little pricey to say the least. I went to a similar aquarium in Tampa Fl and there is more interactions with the sea creatures (sea anemones, etc) there, so maybe include that in the future. I think it’s good education for people to see and feel the different sea creatures. Overall the experience was pleasant, it’s very clean and well maintained like I said and I would recommend the place for families to go visit especially if u want something to do in Denver.

Fantastic experience: I love this place. It's a fast favorite for my son and myself. You can go again and again and it never loses it's fun. Tonight was especially amazing. We had the pleasure of attending during a prom event so we got to feed the stingrays to our hearts content for free! We also got to see all the kids dressed to the nines and interact with each other. And they were so respectful and kind. And staff was so welcoming and accommodating. The characature artist Patricia Branaman was AMAZING so kind and patient and amazing. We had a great time. We've never got one before so it was a delite. She's also not a massive bully like I've seen some artists be and truly caters to her customer. I can't say enough good about this place!

Fantastic experience: Best aquarium ever! I live walking distance to the Monterey Bay aquarium, so I think I know something about large aquariums and visitor experience. This place is more enjoyable and a much better value for the average visitor. Obviously very different philosophies at the two institutions, but as far as visitor experience goes, this is the winner! Wonderful breadth of displays from mountain streams and lakes to worldwide ocean & ecology. The jungle exhibit that included tigers was unexpected and fabulous. On the way out, we had the treat of a serendipitous small group visit with a trained porcupine!

Fantastic experience: We loved the Denver Aquarium! We used a city pass for our tickets and spent a couple of days enjoying the exhibits. The variety of fish and animals was impressive. We learned a lot and had a great time watching and interacting. There was one stingray in particular that won our hearts! It kept coming back for affection and would stay with us for longer periods of time. I had fun playing with one of the otters too! We would definitely go back!

Fantastic experience: I went there with my fiance it was a great experience, our favorite part was at the end where we got to pet the stingrays, watch the mermaid show on Friday. And my ultimate favorite which I 100% recommend getting!!! The live portrait which is where you sit down and somebody draws you in a cartoonish fashion the lady was very sweet and it was the best part of the whole event!!!

Positive experience: So if I could give multiple ratings I would - For the staff that handles the Binturong - 5 stars! So incredible! So friendly, such an amazing experience! We truly loved it!! Worth every penny!!! To the hostesses at the restaurant - 1 star! Absolutely terrible! Awful attitudes, didn't care about those they were servicing! Had disgruntled looks on their faces. I was SO disappointed! To the waitstaff - 5 stars! Very nice, friendly, and did their jobs well! To the cleanliness of the facility, 2 stars - DUST YOUR STUFF!!! Like good lord! I don't think it's been dusted since they built the place. Super gross on that front. And a few too many dead fish in the fresh water tanks. And last - 5 stars to the Rays and being able to pet and feed them!! How magical!!! If you fixed the Hostess staff and dusted, hands down a 5 star experience!!

Positive experience: My family and I love the aquarium! It is always so much fun seeing the animals and watching the fish swim around. There are some rude people there that just stand and talk in front of the animals and not looking just talking but you will find those people everywhere! The staff are exceptionally welcoming and knowledgeable, contributing to a warm and inviting atmosphere throughout the visit. Positive experience: Our adventure in downtown Denver took us to the aquarium and it was worth it for this afternoon. Our ticket reservation time started at 12: 30 and it was the perfect time to start and get through the aquarium in an afternoon. We saw lots of very interesting fish with lots of colors and different kinds in their natural environments. They had them separated by rainforest, coral reefs, desert, the Americas, and others. Got to walk under water exhibits with the sharks and stingrays and turtle swimming above you. It was very cool to experience. Also for a person who is visually impaired, the exhibits were very vibrant and easy to see because you got to get up close and nose to Glass to see all the fish. And don't forget to buy a pass to feed the stingrays. It's such a cool experience. The stingrays suck the fish right out of your fingers and you can even pet the tops of them. It's wild!

Fantastic experience: I recently visited the aquarium in downtown Denver, and it was an unforgettable experience! The highlight for me was the floor-to-ceiling glass tanks that allowed for incredible views of the marine life. Watching the stingrays glide gracefully through the water was mesmerizing. They have such a unique way of moving, and being able to see them up close was truly special. One of the most exciting parts of the visit was the opportunity to feed the stingrays. It was such a fun and interactive experience! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, making sure everyone felt comfortable while feeding these gentle creatures. Additionally, I got to pet jellyfish, which was an interesting and rare experience. Overall, the aquarium is a fantastic place for both families and individuals looking to learn more about marine life. The combination of stunning visuals, interactive experiences, and educational opportunities makes it a must-visit destination in Denver. I can't wait to go back!

Positive experience: Wonder if they regulate attendance? There were so many field trips and general public there that it was difficult to navigate through any part of the Aquarium. We rented their stroller option and at the end of the tour had to leave it upstairs because I couldn't find an elevator to get it back down the stairs and was not about to go through the crowd of people again to get to the elevator at the beginning. They had interesting fish and sea life. But I just don't think I'd go again . Update: previous review was pre-covid. Attended today and am happy to see attendance is regulated and you have to have reservations. Not nearly as crowded as it was pre-covid. I'm assuming Covid forced reservations to avoid the crowding. It was hard to find the restaurant/Starbucks. The exhibits were nice and interesting. Enjoyed this visit

Positive experience: Great aquarium, and surprise tigers. Lots of really cool fish I haven't seen at other aquariums. The only downfall is even if you buy tickets online you still have to wait outside in a line to receive your wristbands which stinks on cold or busy days.

Fantastic experience: We went on a ‘homeschool’ day and were pleasantly impressed. They had multiple meet and greet with their small animals. Getting to touch jelly fish and stingray was very interesting sensory experience. They not only have marine animals but land animals as well. Seeing 2 tigers in the aquarium was pretty amazing. It takes about 1-2 hours to go through the whole building, depending on how fast or slow you (or your children) walk. Very nice and well kept facility.

Fantastic experience: It was super fun. It wasn't crowded, as I thought. I enjoyed the time there. Update: Today was my 12th time being here within the last 2 years, and I am still amazed by all the fish species and colors. I highly recommend getting tickets on advance during the weekend since it seems to be the busiest days. During the week, there are not many people but you can find school trips and there can be a lot of noise with the students but you can still enjoy your visit.

Positive experience: Overall, I’m glad I went but I’ll never go back. Below are each category broken down with some tips at the end. Exhibits (3.5/5.0): Medium sized aquarium (1.5 hours) with fish, otters, and two tigers. Top attractions were the short underwater tunnel, giant shark tank, stingray feeding/petting from 1000-1100 and a room where they show what flooding in the desert looks like. Some of the glass was so dirty that it was hard to see. A lot of people will stop at the main attractions and not move for over five minutes. Tickets are overpriced but the 10% military discount is cool. 4D Theater (1.5/5): Very small and extremely dirty inside. The only “4D” part was small droplets of water hitting you and some random seat vibrations here and there. The two 15-minute movie choices of a dolphin documentary and angry birds is quite subpar. You have to randomly wait outside the building and hope the show is about to start because they have no system of showing how long until the next one. Mine started at (1122). Don’t spend the extra money to go here. Restaurant (2.75/5): For $114, my wife and I got the steak and lobster, combo appetizer, and Megalodon burger. The food was the most unseasoned food I’ve ever had, but not awful. They had 2 seahorse-themed season dispensers, but they were both pepper. For example, I asked for my double burgers to be medium-well and one was medium rare with the other being welldone. The best food item we got was the $11.99 shark slushy cup and the appetizer. Decor wise, it was very mediocre with only a couple tanks of sea life. The lights were pretty, the area was small, and you can’t even request to sit by a tank. I booked a reservation for 1230, arrived at 1222 and was immediately seated with no wait. Gift shop (2.5/5.0): Very small with constant overcrowding of the area. Items in stock are your typical keychains and stuffed animals. The one feature that is good is a build a bear workshop towards the back of the gift shop. I bought a hoodie for $45 and a keychain with my name for $13. I’d check it out, but don’t have high hopes for it. Tips (5/5): -Best time to go is during the weekdays, or towards the late afternoon on weekends. -Worst time to go is first thing in the morning because I guess everyone has the same idea. -Parking is $8, but there is plenty of it. -Credit and debit are accepted throughout the entire experience so cash is not needed. -Bathrooms are actually nice, but they are only located at the beginning of the aquarium. -Reservations for the restaurant can be booked day of and you can be seated earlier with a grace period of 15 minutes. -If you go to the restaurant, get the shark slushy cup, it comes with free refills. -Stringray feeding is only at certain times like 1000-1100, but you can two-finger touch them.

Negative experience: This place is absolutely horrible and is treating these fish and animals so cruelly! The tanks were incredibly filthy and so much mold and algae were everywhere. The poor eels had nowhere to hide as they're meant to, there was an entire colony of jellyfish lying on the tank floor which is a death sentence, there were dead fish in one overly crowded tank. Mostly all tanks were overcrowded. The tiger pen was terrible!! I'm glad I didn't see them in there because I would have been more depressed. The pictures show this so clearly. Yet, they do nothing! This aquarium should be shut down! I've never seen such terrible conditions in any of the numerous aquariums I've been to in the U.S. The worst part is leaving so sad and sorry for the fish and regretful for even giving them money to continue to operate unchecked! DO BETTER!!

Positive experience: The aquarium was a great place to explore, especially with someone who loves marine life. It was quiet when we visited, likely because it was a weekday, and there weren’t many staff or visitors around. We attended the interactive dolphin show and had to wait about 10 minutes for someone to arrive, but on the plus side, we had the seating area to ourselves. Overall, it was a fun and unique experience.

Negative experience: I'm not giving 5 stars because if you purchase the elite tickets for 10 am be prepared for the face painter to not be there and the 4d theatre to not be working . Other than that it was running smoothly. But it sucks to pay extra and you can't get any of the perks !! The place is a nice size with a good variety they allow you to feed stingrays which is included with the elite tickets . It's a fun trip but fast to go threw !

They do have a zoo-ish portion with a tiger, birds, snakes, spiders, etc. There's a lot of cool fish and an area with a wrap over aquarium in the walk way. Positive experience: The aquarium is decent for a landlocked state. It’s also expensive but understandably so. As many times as I’ve gone, I still don’t understand why there is a tiger exhibit but because of this exhibit, service animals are not allowed inside that area even though that exhibit is in the middle of the walkthrough. Idk how anyone with a service animal feels about that- just something I noticed. They have a restaurant that is..meh- but the view is pretty cool since the wall is the aquarium itself and you can see the fish and divers while you dine. Anyway- don’t expect something grand like the aquarium in Atlanta or even the outer banks but if you go, take your time and enjoy it.

Positive experience: Pretty fun place for kids and adult adults alike. Couple of issues with the parking lot and the arm that lets people in and out was not working properly which caused huge back ups. All the staff was super nice and engaging. The jellyfish display was super cute and we actually did get to see the tigers as they were out and moving around. We did not do any of the movies or other activities we just visited the aquarium with a three-year-old.
