🗣️ Georgia Aquarium: Reviews
Fantastic experience: We absolutely loved the Georgia Aquarium. We loved how happy and active the belugas and dolphins were. The tunnel style aquarium was very cool to feel in the midst of the marine life. We also very much enjoyed the shark tank - although we were jump scared by a medium size guy coming around the corner - not because of him but because we didn’t see him coming beyond the pillar, but it made for good laughs and memories.
Fantastic experience: We had a great time! Parking was pretty full when we arrived at 1:30pm on a Friday. However, the experience was incredible! It was busy, but we got to enjoy all the different sections. The staff was friendly & my family and I completed the aquarium in about 2.5 hours. Definitely recommend!
Fantastic experience: Probably one of the best aquariums I’ve been to. Well placed, tons of exhibits and animals. Although the shows recommend reserving a seat, I was able to get in off standby with my party of 4.
Fantastic experience: 5 Star - A must see!! This is hands down the best aquarium I’ve ever been to. It felt more like an ocean-themed amusement park, on par with SeaWorld. One exhibit featured two whale sharks and hundreds of fish, including over six species of manta rays, some with wingspans over 20 feet! Other highlights included hammerhead, silvertip, and tiger sharks, as well as beluga whales and bottlenose dolphins. The variety and scale of the exhibits are incredible. This is a can't-miss attraction if you're visiting Atlanta.
Fantastic experience: We are from Kansas City and stopped in the Atlanta area for a few days on our way home from Crystal River, FL. This aquarium is an absolute MUST SEE! I have been to Sea World but their performances don’t hold a candle to the shows at the Georgia Aquarium! I felt like the seals were about to jump out of the tank! And the dolphin show was absolutely breathtaking. I’ve never seen anything like it. We were there from 9-3 and our kids wanted to stay even longer. Don’t miss this one!!!
Fantastic experience: "Visiting the Georgia Aquarium was a truly wonderful experience! The exhibits were breathtaking from the massive whale sharks to the playful sea otters. The Ocean Voyager tunnel made me feel like I was walking under the sea. Clean, well-organized, and family-friendly. A must-visit gem in Atlanta!"
Positive experience: I’m guessing I was more excited my first visit because it felt more exciting the first time i went with my daughter when she was a baby. We recently we now that she is 5 years old and it probably was exciting to her but I didn’t have that same experience. The shows were the only thing different that I had a chance to do and it had the experience that I felt the first time. I think if there were more shows with different themes or something would make it more appealing. I know that’s easy said then done because I know it takes a lot of effort and work to get the sea lions and dolphins to do what they do. 5 star to the staff and crew that put that together. Also they should change the statements on skipping the line because there is no skipping anything
Fantastic experience: Gping to this aquarium was such an amazing experience. I cant describe how cool it was to see all of the different animals. I highly recommend booking seats for the dolphin and sea lion shows. If you dont want to get wet don’t sit too close to the front and seats fill up quickly! The was to reserve seats is super easy though. One of my favorite parts was being able to leave and re-enter. I took this as an opportunity to also go to World of Coke but still have more time to go back to the aquarium. Only downside is that at some spots it does get super crowded- for example when you are walking to go see where the whale sharks are but thats my only downside. I easily spent over 4 hours here walking through it all and soaking in all of the cool fish. I didnt book any of the extras and have no regrets about it. All of the tanks give you a great chance to see the animals and fish.
Fantastic experience: Aquarium is amazing. Definitely do the dolphin show. Plan to spend 3 to 5 hours. Pre-buy your tickets, it will save you in the long run. It is packed. I recommend going when not in rush or low capacity times. Parking was simple in the deck $25. Tight squeeze little harder if you have a truck.
Fantastic experience: I visited once when I was probably in middle school and didn’t remember much (except that it was a lot of walking, expensive and there wasn’t anything “super cool” except the tunnel). Now coming back as an adult almost 20 years later with my kids, I see this as an amazing experience where so much sea life is able to be viewed, when otherwise it would be near impossible to for people like us. An entry ticket and a world of wonder! I’m so thankful that with my son’s needs, they allowed our wagon stroller (which just fit the size requirements) in so that he could also have a chance to see these awesome creatures (his face may not be expressing like you may think, but he was so happy and in awe in almost every section). And our daughter was loving each part as well. Pointing out all the fish, and wanting to stay by the jellyfish forever while her brother kept asking about the whale sharks and sea turtle. I would definitely make the trip again when they’re a little older. Who knows, maybe even every couple years since it’s so fun!
Fantastic experience: The Georgia Aquarium is truly a fantastic experience, and it's always our top recommendation for anyone entertaining out-of-town visitors. My personal tip for the best experience? Go on a holiday! I've found that Christmas and Thanksgiving offer the best way to avoid the massive crowds. I made the mistake of going on a normal weekend once, and it was an absolute headache trying to navigate through everyone. And whatever you do, don't miss the dolphin show! It's incredibly fun and perfectly timed to be entertaining without losing your attention. It's free to attend, but there are options for cheap VIP seating, which I'd say is definitely worth the small extra cost for a great view.
Fantastic experience: The aquarium is outstanding! There is so much to see. We did the Behind the Scenes Tour which was awesome!! The tour guide was excellent. He answered questions if you had any. He was extremely knowledgeable and you knew he really cared about all of the animals and there mission at the Georgia Aquarium! I would definitely recommend a visit here!!
Fantastic experience: We visited during their glow event. It was awesome the whole family enjoyed it even my big. Loved coming out of each of exhibits to a different show going on, i.e. juggler, stilts walker, drummers, etc. I would recommend buying tickets in advance as they have times entrances.
Fantastic experience: The Georgia Aquarium is incredible. The single pane aquarium with the whale sharks is an awesome inspiring room, the music and lighting make it feel dramatic and the whale sharks are impressively big (maybe slightly smaller than I imagined). The seal area feels a little cramped but the rest of the exhibits are nicely spaced out. The food is pretty subpar I would encourage you to eat at one of the many options nearby.
Fantastic experience: Amazing aquarium! This has been on my bucket list for a long time, and it didn’t disappoint!! I will most definitely be back someday to see the hammerhead and whale sharks again! Would recommend to anybody with a love of aquariums!! Make sure to buy tickets in advance! There were lots of daycare children, which yeah it’s an awesome aquarium, so I’m sure they sell out! Also, check out the shows!! We only got to see the dolphin one, but it was so fun and it literally brought tears to my eyes!
Positive experience: I've been to many aquariums around the world. The price for visiting Georgia Aquarium is one of the highest at close to $60 per person, no discount for residents or seniors. It also has more audio visual and digital exhibits than real live exhibits. You also have to make a reservation for the dolphin show. In the afternoon they only had one at 3pm and the last one at 6pm. I guess if this is your only opportunity to visit an aquarium, it would do. They also offer a combo ticket with The World of Coca-Cola, which makes it more expensive!
Fantastic experience: Very fun and good exhibits. Crowded on the weekends so get there early! Get tix in advance. Plenty of food options right outside if you don’t want what they have in the cafe. We did the dolphin and sea lion show back to back and I would recommend both. Very fun and family friendly!
Fantastic experience: A must-do excursion in Atlanta! The Georgia Aquarium was such a fantastic experience—visually stunning, well-organised, and perfect for families. Booking in advance made it surprisingly affordable too. The size is just right—not overwhelmingly large—so you can enjoy the full experience in about an hour without feeling rushed. The range of sea creatures on display was impressive, and the entire atmosphere was lively and joyful, with lots of families and kids enjoying themselves. The only downside? The food is typical fast food fare—not the best, but it does the job. Still, for the experience alone, it’s a 10 out of 10. Highly recommended if you’re in Atlanta!
Fantastic experience: It's definitely a place you want to put on your bucket list! It's huge with an excellent, easy to follow layout. There's so many incredibly things to see/experience there. The included dolphin and sea lion shows are spectacular and are a must see. It's fun, breathtaking, engaging and I highly recommend checking it out.
Fantastic experience: The best aquarium I've been to! There's so many things to see while there. The dolphin show was my favorite and is free to watch. When you leave, the views of the area are nice as well.
Fantastic experience: First time visitor, this was a remarkable experience!!!! If you're visiting Atlanta, I highly recommend spending a day at the Georgia Aquarium. If you live in Orlando near Atlanta I strongly recommend buying the Family Membership for 4 so you can visit multiple times!!!! It's the largest Aquarium in North America & I guarantee it will not disappoint. The exhibits are absolutely World Class & the shows are remarkable. PS, the staff are remarkable, engaging and love to answer questions/talk with people about the exhibits. I highly recommend taking at least one of the behind the scenes tours....
Fantastic experience: This was my first visit and the aquarium was beautiful. So many exhibits and things to do! The exhibit with the whale sharks was stunning.
Fantastic experience: I've been wanting to go to this aquarium for years. It has a nice setup to navigate what you like in any order. Also, the jellyfish were my favorite. Even with this being the largest aquarium in the US, it's not overwhelming.
Positive experience: It's such a great aquarium. They have so many fish, displays and and encounters. The food is way to expensive but expected. It is a great way to spend the day.
Fantastic experience: Must visit spot if you are visiting United States on the whole with kids. They will thank you. No comments just go visit and do not miss the dolphin and Sea lion shows they are amazing and informative. Book your tickets ahead, reserve for the shows earlier and Try to visit on weekdays.
Fantastic experience: This was the most stunning aquarium I have ever visited. The animals appeared healthy and happy. Exhibits were very clean and well maintained. There was so much to see and do. Each exhibit was very unique and flowed well. I kept revisiting exhibits just to see it again and again. I spent around 6-7 hours here. There is plenty of options at the aquarium for accessibility, I like how staff were able to navigate crowds to make this possible and inclusive for everyone. The ticket prices aren’t cheap, but it is well worth it in my opinion. Keep in mind if you are going during the summer months, it is extremely crowded (even during the week).
Fantastic experience: This is the best and definitely the largest aquarium I have ever visited! It's worth more than 5 stars. GO
Fantastic experience: We had an incredible time. The dolphin show was badass! My son loved the hammer head sharks and the whale shark.
Fantastic experience: Thrilled that we included this as part of our ATL trip. The whale shark was so neat to see at an aquarium. The dolphin show and sea lion show are free to see, but need to be reserved ahead of time. Book these as soon as you purchase your tickets. When we went in, I noticed there were not any reservations available for either show. Absolutely purchase your tickets before you arrive (thank you groupon!). There was a long line to purchase in person at a self service kiosk when we arrived. I will say, the elevator situation to the parking lot left a LOT to be desired. There is 1 working elevator and no less than 30 families with strollers needing an elevator. Also, the bathrooms weren't well planned out at all. The main bathroom on the first floor also didn't have a working changing table for babies.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful aquarium. Lots of different areas to explore. Several touch tanks available for you to interact with different animals. The exhibits are well kept and there were staff available to tell you about each exhibit or answer questions. Paying for parking at the kiosk was a nightmare, luckily you can pay as you leave the garage. We bought tickets in advance and there was no wait at all. It was a fun family experience.
Positive experience: This is the best aquarium in the US and it simply cannot be missed. My kids wanted to see whale sharks and we saw them. It was amazing to see their excitement. All the exhibits were really well-done and the presentations were great as well. I'm glad we arrived at opening because it got very crowded towards the afternoon. The only thing I didn't like was the lunch. It was extremely overpriced but I get it. Captive audience. Would absolutely work here in the future.
Fantastic experience: Great experience with the kiddos! Nice size, clean, family friendly facility. We also scheduled the Dolphin Encounter. It was free with reservations, but for a $5 up charge you got preferred seating. The show lasted approximately 30 mins. We purchase Four Aqua Passes (season passes) for the same price ($67) as general admission tickets. Very informative and diverse exhibits. We will definitely return. Our visit was on Fathers Day weekend. Seemingly very organized for a holiday weekend with a big crowd!
Fantastic experience: Incredible experience from start to finish! The exhibits are breathtaking—especially the Ocean Voyager tunnel with whale sharks and manta rays gliding right overhead. We walked from our hotel. Tip: buy tickets online ahead of time and go early to beat the crowds. One of the best aquariums in the country!
Fantastic experience: Very cool experience. Relaxed atmosphere. Took enough time to slowly enjoy every section. Touching the stingray was a very good experience. Sea Lion and Dolphin shows were very good but just 15 and 20 mins. Could have been more. Overall everyone enjoyed, adults and kids. A must go if you are interested in seeing aquatic world.
Fantastic experience: ASTONISHING ✨ This place is a must-see if you're visiting Atlanta. The exhibits are incredible, and if you can try one of the animal encounter experiences — a bit pricey, but totally worth it Just be sure to book online or at the info center when you arrive, as spots fill up fast!
Fantastic experience: Excellent in every single way! I highly recommend the shows (dolphin and sea lion). They're awesome! We got the "behind the scenes tickets and it was absolutely beyond amazing! We got to see the Whale Sharks being fed from above. Every single member of the staff we encountered was happy and friendly. I can't wait to go back again.
Fantastic experience: Incredible! We could have sat and watched the whale sharks for hours. You can tell the staff love thier jobs which makes a huge impact. Everything was clean and the animals looked very healthy. 10/10
Fantastic experience: Amazing Aquarium, it’s a good learning place for kids and adults too . It takes about 4-5 hrs to visit the whole place in detail . There are two shows which require prior reservations one is the seal show and other is the dolphin show . In dolphin show first 10 seats are splash zone and the splash is just not a little splash . If you are sitting in middle get ready to get soaked up in cold water
Fantastic experience: I always love coming to the Georgia Aquarium. Great fun for all ages! Definitely recommend coming on a weekday because the weekends are usually crowded. I got to experience the first glow night, and it's definitely worth it!
Fantastic experience: This aquarium is really cool. We always go to an aquarium during all our family vacations and this was by far the best one. We drove into Atlanta from savanna(4 hr drive) and it was worth it. Soany exhibits and some cool shows. 10/10. We spent 5 hrs here and probably could have stayed longer but we had a long drive back!!!!
Positive experience: Overall it was a good experience. The ticket price was reasonable and presented was interesting to watch. However, for some reason I didn't get much excitements from the visit as other described. - after you pass the check in point they put you against the wall to take the picture of you without even ask the permission - be ready to pay some extra money for some shows - dining area has a plenty of space, but food choice is very limited and personal wasn't so friendly. - some shows have specific time to start. So if you miss this moment you are not be able to enter until next start time. - The charge for parking ticket was $25, when right across the street you can park for $10
Fantastic experience: Went in a little before 9am opening today (Thursday) with prepaid tickets. The entire line cleared in a matter of minutes due to efficient scanning of tickets and directions by staff. The first thing we did was go to see Predators of the Deep where we saw many wonderful views for the different sharks. What made the experience perfect was the employee Morgan who was more than excited to tell us about her favorite animals the sharks. Going as far as asking how much we knew and then talking about her favorite shark and naming a few of the different sharks. Her enthusiasm made my heart melt. Anyone that loves what they do and shares it with others as wholeheartedly as Morgan deserves praise beyond measure. I would go back solely to hear Morgan geek about sharks for hours or anything else for that matter. Morgan gets a 10/10 ❤️ and I guess the Aquarium a 5/5 too!
Fantastic experience: Expensive but so amazing! Suggested getting y at least an Aqua Pass if you plan on visiting more than once a year. The glow exhibits and performers that come out at 4pm are awesome!
Fantastic experience: This is a great reason to visit Atlanta. The aquarium is massive and is situated right next to the World of Coca-Cola and the Parking Garage so access is easy and affordable. The staff were friendly and incredibly helpful. My daughter had a great time especially with the Dolphin show. We will be returning for Glow Nights.
Positive experience: The Georgia Aquarium is an amazing experience overall, it’s huge, well-organized, and has so many impressive exhibits. My family especially loved the sharks, the sea lions, and the beautiful jellyfish tanks. It’s definitely worth the visit! That said, I’m giving it 4 stars because some areas could really use more maintenance. A few things looked worn out or outdated, and for a place with such a high entrance fee, you’d expect everything to feel a bit more polished. With a little extra upkeep, it could easily be a perfect 5-star spot.
Positive experience: Amazing Experience at Georgia Aquarium! The Georgia Aquarium is absolutely stunning! The Ocean Voyager tunnel with whale sharks is a must-see, and the dolphin show was both fun and educational. Everything was clean, well-organized, and perfect for families. A fantastic place to explore marine life—highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: My brother and his wife visited us from OH and my sister in law wanted to visit the GA Aquarium for her birthday. We visited on a Sunday and I recommended we get there when it opened. I caught a little flack for having to get up early but about 11:00 they were all thanking me because the crowds were insane. We all had a great time. The behind the scenes tour was great and so was the dolphin show. Well worth the cost and the wait.
Fantastic experience: Wow! The Georgia Aquarium is amazing, the staff is very knowledgeable in their areas. The aquarium offers many different areas to visit so you are not going through with large amounts of people. I do recommend purchasing your tickets in advance to skip the ticket line. We parked in the parking garage in front of the aquarium-flat fee of $20, take your ticket with you to pay at the kiosk-at the stairwell entrance, when you are done to exit faster.
Fantastic experience: Visited from out of town and man was I blown away. I'm not into aquariums by any means by this place was awesome. So many different areas with huge glass coverage to see sharks, Wales, turtles and other animals swimming.
Fantastic experience: So many exhibits and things to do, the dolphin show literally had me in tears it was so good!! Stroller and wheelchair accessible, truly amazing
Fantastic experience: Georgia Aquarium has been a long-time bucket list location of mine. I finally got to visit while on vacation with a friend. Pictures and videos do not do this place justice. It's truly incredible! The exhibits are beautifully designed and laid out, animals are so well cared for and actually look like they're thriving in their homes. And all the staff were so kind and well educated on the animals they care for. I can't say enough good things about the Georgia Aquarium. I only wish I could've stayed longer
Fantastic experience: What an experience this was. I've never been to an aquarium this large before. I'd always heard about it, but never went myself. A friend of mine works there and got my friend and I entry to it. Large parking garage. But it took a minute to find disabled parking. Once we got down there, there was a ton outside to see too. We got our picture taken since it was my first time. We went inside and explored all the exhibits. They're definitely breathtaking and some exhibits reminded me of Sea World back home which was really nice to see. We ate lunch and they did have some food I could eat. I used their Skittles vending machine too. That was fun, but definitely expensive. I really did it for the little boy who wanted some and was standing there watching the whole time. My friend was our own personal tour guide essentially and told us all these little neat tidbits and info about the animals and their habitats. We finished at the gift shop and I grabbed some best friend axolotl and a t shirt with a bag and my friend got a pin. It was definitely a lot of fun and I would love to go back there again in the future.
Positive experience: The Georgia Aquarium is absolutely stunning the exhibits were incredible and the sharks were definitely a highlight! It’s a beautiful, well-kept facility with a lot to see and learn. That said, be prepared to spend some serious money. Admission for a family of 3 ran us about $200, which felt like a lot. On top of that, food at the café was pricey. we paid almost $80 for a burger/fries/drink and chicken tenders/fries/drink combo. Parking was $25, and if you want to keep the souvenir photo they take, that’s another $30. Overall, we had a great time and it was a memorable visit, but definitely budget ahead this is not a cheap day out. Worth it for the experience, just know what you’re walking into.
Fantastic experience: Say hello to the place you’ll spend your whole day at! So much to see, and say “wow” too. I recommend buying tickets in advance if you know you want to go. If you want to do the dolphin or sea lion show (it’s free) just make sure to scan a QR code near the animal area and secure your tickets as soon as you enter. The layout of the aquarium is very nice and offers a lot of facts, and interesting tidbits. We really enjoyed the emphasis on sustainable farming/fishing/eating. It’s important to keep our planet, and animals, healthy! A shoutout to the dolphin trainers who truly protect the dolphins during the shows. There are also touch tanks, and we were happy to see they were deeper ones so the animals didn’t have to forcibly be touched!! We really recommend coming, and doing it early in the day. It was great to see the animals and learn more about their place on earth.
Fantastic experience: Visited on Sunday – A Must-See in Atlanta! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) I spent my Sunday exploring the Georgia Aquarium, and it was an absolutely unforgettable experience! The place is massive and beautifully maintained, perfect for all age groups. The sea lion and dolphin shows were highlights of the day – well-organized, fun, and educational. We also loved the jellyfish zone and the vibrant coral reef exhibits. Crowd management was good even though it was a weekend, and staff were helpful and friendly. If you are exploring solo – this place is worth every penny. A true gem of Atlanta that makes you appreciate the wonders of marine life.
Fantastic experience: Amazing experience we did the Behind the scenes tour and I highly recommend it. The staff and animals are all so happy. I wish I could give this place a 15 out of 10!! If your in this area don't miss it!
Fantastic experience: Wow, always wanted to come here to see the whale shark. It’s the biggest aquarium in the US and definitely worth the price. You have to arrive early to be able to enjoy seeing every animal in every part of it without being in a hurry. The whale shark area has a humongous wall view that you could just stay staring at for hours. The only thing I didn’t like is there’s only one place to eat, and the food was just OK. Another thing I love with seeing this beautiful red octopus. Overall, they have so many beautiful animals and the dolphin show and the sea lion show was awesome. I enjoyed it more than the Seaworld ones because you could actually see the dolphin show and the sea lion much closer.
Fantastic experience: If you’re in Atlanta and looking for something fun and unforgettable, the Georgia Aquarium is 100% worth a visit. It’s one of the largest aquariums in the world—and you can tell the moment you walk in. The main highlights? Definitely the Ocean Voyager exhibit, where you get to see massive whale sharks, manta rays, and tons of other sea creatures gliding right over your head in the tunnel. It’s like being inside a giant underwater movie. Seriously magical. The dolphin and sea lion shows are a fun break from walking around, and they’re great for kids and adults alike. The staff really puts effort into making them educational but still entertaining. Make sure to check the showtimes early and plan your visit around them—they do fill up! There are tons of smaller exhibits too, from jellyfish and piranhas to beluga whales and penguins. Everything is well-maintained, clean, and easy to navigate. They’ve also added a shark and predator gallery that feels a bit like stepping into an underwater thriller. Prices can be a bit steep (especially if you add parking and food), but it’s a full-day experience and you really do get a lot for the money. Booking tickets online ahead of time is a good idea to avoid long lines.
Fantastic experience: For a city a couple hours drive from the ocean, its aquarium is top notch. The Ocean Voyage exhibit features an expansive 6.3 million gallon tank (which would take approximately 364 days to fill with a garden hose) with an impressive collection of aquatic creatures, including a 17-foot manta ray and 2 whale sharks! There are 5 other diverse exhibits that house fish, amphibians, and even birds from all over the world. To top it off, the aquarium employs a team of acrobats who perform a variety of aquatic themed stunts, including an aerial rope performance from a 30 foot ceiling! Definitely worth a trip whether you're a visitor or resident.
Fantastic experience: It's a great aquarium to visit. It has a couple of shows and interactive areas for young children. Arrive early to the Dolphin show if you don't want to get wet or drenched, though my grandson found getting wet was the best part of the show.
Fantastic experience: This aquarium is the Best we have ever visited, surpassing our expectations from at least nine other aquariums we have been to. The whale sharks are truly stunning and beautiful, with the largest currently measuring 27 feet. Our visit was a magical experience, and we spent the entire day admiring the exhibits.
Fantastic experience: Our visit was great. I recommend downloading the app to purchase tickets in advance. You can also use the map while there and reserve seats for the dolphin show.
Fantastic experience: The best aquarium I have ever been to. It does live up to its name. We were there for 7 hours. There is so much there to see and the dolphin and seal shows were great. Definitely recommend going
Fantastic experience: So cool and one of the biggest aquariums I’ve been to! They also had a show where they splash you, but I came around 4-5 so come earlier if you don’t wanna miss it! The jellyfish and beluga whales were my favorite!
Fantastic experience: I now understand why this is ranked among the Top 10 Aquariums in the World. This entire Aquarium was easy to find, with easy parking and sections divided up to allow for ease of viewing. It was clean, easy to navigate, and had a beautiful array of fish and other animals. A must for any fish-lover!
Positive experience: Visited with the whole family, and everyone had an amazing time! The Sea Lion and Dolphin shows were clear favorites—fun, well-produced, and great for all ages. Tickets are on the expensive side compared to the overall value, but still a memorable experience.
Fantastic experience: Glow Nights are a must do! It’s like two tickets in one. We loved the dolphin and sea lion shows and the circus performances added an extra special, magical touch in the evening. We spent several hours here and didn’t get to do everything. We would definitely visit again when we are in town. I would caution that the food court prices are not cheap. An icee is $12.95 but it comes with a fun, swirl character keepsake straw. We also recommend buying tickets in advance to avoid the line. We tried to buy in advance twice but both times were declined. Waiting at guest services took time. Parking on site is also $25. But the memories will last a lifetime so definitely enjoy and be amazed by the world around us.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful aquarium! We were in Atlanta for a weekend and went on a Friday afternoon. Not too crowded but lots of patrons. So many species to see and interactive. I love all the conservation work they are involved in with around the globe. Employees are knowledgeable and friendly. Great experience. We did not use their parking garage but they have one. I tried to purchase tickets in advance but could not, perhaps it was closed off due to expected crowds? I was able to easily purchase a ticket in person. When looking at the website, I was somewhat confused about the benefits of an Aqua Pass versus regular admission. Perhaps the Aqua Pass is good for a year? The price difference is not much. Either way, very worth it!
Fantastic experience: My visit to the Georgia Aquarium was a wonderful experience overall. The variety of exhibits and marine life is truly impressive—there's so much to see and learn, and each section is thoughtfully designed. My wife especially loved it, which made the visit even more enjoyable for both of us. One helpful tip: consider eating before you arrive or making plans to eat elsewhere afterward. The food inside is quite pricey, and while it's convenient, the quality doesn't quite match the cost. That aside, the aquarium itself is definitely worth the trip and a great way to spend a few hours exploring the wonders of the ocean. Would happily recommend it Definitely book a time to see the dolphin show
Fantastic experience: 10/10 I will go again! Parking garage was a tight fit (7 seat SUV). Price was worth it! Memories last longer than money. Bring towels to leave in your car if you are seing the dolphin show. The divers were so friendly! And so was the rest of the staff!
Fantastic experience: Bucket list ✅️ Such an awesome aquarium! Buy tickets ahead of time and definitely recommend going early, especially on a weekend. It gets super crowded. Parking structure was also a bit of a mess and very difficult to get out of. But I would do it again to be able to see all the amazing creatures at the Georgia Aquarium. A must-see in Atlanta!
Fantastic experience: Not sure where to begin: Pros: Parking is for a lot of things downtown, near good food selection for before or after the aquarium, the moment you walk in it's an experience and welcoming, the shows are free and not an upcharge (we saw the Dolphins and Sea Lions, those were free) and was outstanding! Layout is easy to navigate, and lastly the exhibits are amazing they are each different and modern. 10/10 go and we went on the opening night of the Glow after dark and was so neat! Con: food was expensive and I can't say how it tastes but I'm sure Johnny Rockets would suffice before or after.
Fantastic experience: Was in town on a layover and visiting the Aquarium fit in with my timeline. Loved the aquarium. The exhibits were ones I hadn't seen before. I especially loved the Beluga Whales exhibit and the Giant Manta Ray exhibit. My only issue with the aquarium was that their touch pool wasn't very good.
Fantastic experience: We had a blast! Drove all the way from NC to have my bub see his current obsession! We were able to get reservations for the Sea Lion and Dolphin show and that made our almost 6 hour drive WORTH it!
Fantastic experience: Such a beautiful place with so many fish to see! The staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our little family day trip so much! We came late in the afternoon on Memorial Day. There was no wait for tickets, though we purchased ours in advance online. We found parking super easy in their parking deck. The facilities are stroller friendly. We will be back soon!
Fantastic experience: This is a fantastic aquarium. The exhibits were phenomenal and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable. Make sure to sign up for the dolphin and sea lion shows first thing in the morning. They fill up quickly and shouldn't be missed.
Fantastic experience: I'm an aquarium nerd, and this is simply one of the best in the U.S. Massive tanks, a wide variety of fish and animals, clean, well-organized, informative, family-friendly and also interesting for adults, beautiful exhibits. The price is steep - if I were a resident I'd definitely buy the yearlong pass and go very often. If you want to do any other big attractions in Atlanta, definitely go for the CityPass. But, if you like to take your time, you could easily spend a whole day here - I went through in 3 hours (didn't see a show) and felt rushed, but I had other things to get to. It was packed with kids and families on a weekday at lunch time when I went, so also take that into account and avoid holidays and weekends if you can. I would like more opportunities for seating, although there were enough that I was comfortable, but I always enjoy watching the fish swim for a long time to feel like I'm in the environment with them. Of course, the whale sharks in the huge tank are amazing, but for me, the highlight was the tropical reef tank - the number and beauty of those fish was just magical. I used SpotHero to park at the Hilton Garden Inn Garage across the street - was easy and relatively inexpensive.
Positive experience: It is a larger aquarium, but an aquarium. I recommend arranging seeing the dolphin and otter shows in advance.they are timed and full . You can not take anything in food, water or even gum. So you will have to leave your Stanley’s outside if you bring them, and hope someone doesn’t take them. This place is packed like sardines,so be aware. They have a restaurant inside and several gift stores that are crazy overpriced. Look for 6.00 for a 12 can of coke, and 8.00 for a small bottle of water. Souvenirs started at around 15.00 for a basic magnet and went up. It is definitely a tourist trap so be aware.
Positive experience: Expected this place to be a bit bigger. It's nice. They have some things Sea World doesn't as far as animals go, but also lack in some areas. I wouldn't pay that much to go again. Between parking fees, and the homeless "assisting" for tips, and the tickets for 2 people was close to $250. I don't understand the hype. The size of the tanks vs the amount of animals shoved into them were depressing.
Fantastic experience: During our visit we decided to go to the aquarium which wasn’t far from our hotel. It’s typically pretty busy over there as they have street vendors and a park and more, it could be nice if you enjoy that. The process to go in wasn’t too bad… we thought it’d probably be better to most likely get tickets early and avoid the lines. However, if you do have to get tickets there, as long as people pay attention to the line, and hopefully none of the self service machines are down, it was a smooth process. We did think about ordering tickets online but it schedules a time to come so it didn’t benefit us as we were already there. They have lots of security and that also was a very quick process, we did decide to skip the photo ops they have up front prior to security. The aquarium was nice, we were able to see the penguin feeding, learn about the whales and see a dolphin show. Now it does get crowded but we were still able to see just about everything. We didn’t eat there but the option is available, we did purchase two water bottles which cost about $10 for both so be prepared for pricing. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves and were glad we got the experience.
Fantastic experience: Great place for the entire family. The staff is wonderful and extremely knowledgeable, very helpful, clean, and overall a safe environment. Bring lots of energy to enjoy everything the aquarium has to offer. Don't be shy, check out the dolphin shows. Check me out. @Richer85 on youtube or @Richer Rich
Fantastic experience: The best experience in an Aquarium I have had in a long time. The whale shark tank was impressive. Takes about 4 hours to see the whole place if you power through it. We totally needed more time.
Fantastic experience: Despite the exorbitant $55 ticket, this aquarium is a 5-star experience. The layout of the place is exemplary for being able to discover and enjoy various ocean life in bite-size pieces. Ditto for the plexiglass life-size aquarium enclosures for the sharks, beluga whales and whale sharks. The technology for these plexiglass enables you to see the animals up close. Overall I feel the goal design of this aquarium is make it as intimate an experience as it can for the spectator.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic place to visit. Huge variety of animals to see and if you get chance to do any of the experiences would highly recommend. Staff are professional and welcoming to guests. Highlights were seeing the whale shark and the beluga whales.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful aquarium. The whale shark is definitely worth the visit. Parking was a little expensive at $25 for non-members, but the lot was right next to the aquarium. Can’t wait to come back ! The dolphin show was amazing.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful large clean well-maintained aquarium with friendly helpful staff and tons of aquatic animals, the dolphin show is a must but we didn't make it to the sea lions if the dolphin show is any example the sea lions would be great too. I would recommend getting the city pass if you are planning on staying for the weekend or longer it is worth the money. Parking is not cheap and the food drinks and souvenirs are also priced to make money so be ready for $5 water bottles and so on. Great experience!
Fantastic experience: I had an amazing experience at the Georgia Aquarium, and a huge part of that was thanks to Trinity in Guest Services. From the moment I arrived, she went above and beyond to make sure I felt welcome and informed. Trinity is clearly knowledgeable and experienced—she guided me through the exhibits with such enthusiasm and insight, it felt like I had my own personal marine biologist showing me around! She answered all my questions with ease and shared fascinating facts about the marine life that I would’ve completely missed on my own. From the mesmerizing jellyfish to the incredible whale sharks, Trinity made sure I didn’t just see the exhibits—I understood and appreciated them. Her passion for the aquarium and the animals was infectious. If you’re visiting the Georgia Aquarium, I highly recommend asking for Trinity. She truly made my visit unforgettable!
Fantastic experience: This place is stunning! Absolutely love the improvements made over the years, and the staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Recommend going in the afternoon, during the week, as that’s when it was the slowest for us. Definitely worth saving up and taking the family. Be aware lunch for two can easily be $50+, so even more if you have kids. The food isnt amazing for that price, and I wish we had brought a lunch, if we could've changed anything. Past that everything else was amazing and not enough to ruin our day.
Positive experience: It was great I brought my 2 kids and we had a good time. I gave it 4 stars because getting anything to eat was impossible so we didn’t eat while we were there. And there isn’t an underwater walkable tunnel like to picture shows. We were mostly looking forward to walking through the water tunnel but there wasn’t one. Just large windows in along the cave walls and an open area above. Over all I enjoyed it especially the dolphin show.
Fantastic experience: I wouldn't recommend a weekend if you don't like crowds. It's very crowded but still manageable to be able to see everything. If you stay at certain hotels downtown. They offer discounted tickets. Westin $49. If you buy them online on the aquarium website, it's $56. You can get add ons as well for shows. There is a gift shop, it's pretty pricey so be prepared. The cheapest generic aquarium shirt was $36. If you stay in any hotel close to centennial park, it's an easy walk to the aquarium.
Fantastic experience: Awesome, worth every dime! Parking in the aquarium building is 25$, but you still need to get walk out to the street and walk around the building to get to the main entrance. Fairly busy on a Friday afternoon. I suggest booking the dolphin and sea lion shows in advance, they are free but you need a reservation.
Fantastic experience: Incredible experience in a beautiful, large, clean facility. Loved that there was so much to see and so much that surprised us. Seeing a whale shark was on my bucket list. Loved that there were private pod rooms to nurse my baby with outlets if someone needed to pump alternatively. We also ate at the cafe and it was nice to have the option to eat lunch here. Highly recommend! Worth the visit.
Fantastic experience: This was part of our city pass but i would have happily paid full price. The exhibits are magical and well organized. I will say that if you want food or souvenirs you will definitely need a stack of cash.... VERY expensive.
Fantastic experience: This aquarium always surprises with the quality and size that it is. They run many events for all ages as well. This year I got to be part of an after hours event at night with furries. Very fun.
Fantastic experience: amazing place it has everything that you would expect for an aquarium and more. One thing I would note is make sure that you ask around for directions as if you don’t ask around you might miss some of the species. As there are not a lot of proper signage, telling you where to go in the aquarium so make sure you ask someone as there are some hidden places. The dolphin show was also good although the wait for it was longer than the show itself.
Fantastic experience: It’s hard for me to believe anyone would rate this under 5 stars. I wish I could rate it higher! ALL of the staff were more than friendly and accommodating. The actual aquarium itself is set up so well. Worth it to splurge for the excursions! We did the otter encounter, 1 long “Behind the Seas” tour, and swam with the whale shark. First I had questions about my bill when we got there because I bought my tickets in advance for my boyfriend as a holiday present. I bought parking because I thought we were going to drive but we ended up flying instead and they refunded me for parking. Everything was thoroughly explained as to where to go when with our tight schedule. So we first went to check in upstairs and sign waivers for the excursions. We were greeted by friendly staff and swiftly taken care of. We walked around for a bit before our otter encounter. Everything was clean, well kept, all the animals seemed very happy! The staff for the otter encounter was passionate and shared a lot of fun facts about the otters. We got to feed them and touch their super soft fur. After that we walked around a bit more and finally did the behind the seas tour. Our guide was very sweet and knowledgeable. Very cool to see how everything was set up including the pumps, labs and where they bring the animals into the facility. Again, everything very clean and well kept plus onsite DRs 24/7 to maintain healthy and happy animals. We walked around a bit more after that and saw the dolphins do a show. Toward the end of day we swam with the whale shark. Really such an amazing experience and if I’m being honest I’m not a strong swimmer. You have a life vest on and guides that tell you what to expect every step of the way. The wet suit, goggles and breathing tube fit perfect. I didn’t have to adjust them at all once I was in the water. Once in the water you swim in a figure 8 around the massive tank and the animals are NOT shy they come right up to you and all though you can’t touch them they def touch you! lol this process started at 4:30pm and the aquarium closed at 6 that day. We did not get our photos or go to the gift shop because we thought we would be done sooner. The next day we went back and they printed entry tickets for us at no charge to come back in get our photos from the day and shop at the gift shop. Also the cafeteria food is really good! Lots of great options that aren’t just fried kid food. I was highly impressed by the place and would recommend going ASAP!
Cassandra, we’re thrilled to hear you had such an amazing experience! Our team works hard to ensure every visit is memorable, and your kind words truly mean a lot. Thank you for highlighting the staff, excursions, and overall experience. We can’t wait to welcome you back for more adventures!
Fantastic experience: Had a great experience parking at the parking garage. Stairwell was clean, Very conveniently, located next to aquarium Some of my favorite things were the coral reef, large display view, the giant viewing where you could see the whale sharks, passing by, the tunnel view where the wildlife would swim over you, seeing giant grouper, it was neat to see the beluga whales as well, they had good shows too – the sea lion and dolphin show. I also enjoyed the tide pool and seeing the electric eel. They had a touch tank where you could try to touch cow rays. They had a good gift shop as well. I would suggest planning two weeks in advance so you can save money and maybe try to go on a weekday. There was lots of people there, but I think that may have enhanced the experience.
Fantastic experience: We enjoyed the entire experience. If there's any exhibit we liked the most, I would say the dolphin show. Their spirit & energy was completely unmatched to everything else there. Watch out for the splash zone! Unless you have a plastic bag for your personal items lol . I don't know if anyone expects so much energy coming at you in a short order period of time.
Fantastic experience: Very crowded on a Sunday afternoon. They want you to make reservations to see all The shows. If I go back I’d go on a weekday afternoon. The staff was kind and knowledgeable. Price of entry and parking is very expensive.
Fantastic experience: Georgia Aquarium is a must-visit destination that kids AND parents will love! When it opened in 2005, it was the largest aquarium in the world — and today, it's still the biggest in the Western Hemisphere with over 11 million gallons of water! Explore a magical underwater world filled with playful sea otters, majestic beluga whales, and over 500 species from across the globe. It’s fun, educational, and unforgettable — the perfect mix for a family day out! Bonus: It’s located right next to the World of Coca-Cola, so you can turn your visit into a full day of excitement, learning, and sweet sips of fun!
