🗣️ Madeira Aquarium: Reviews
Positive experience: Very small place. Interesting but for one visit . They over diving , which could be verey helpful and note interesting than aquarium
Negative experience: Badly signed, almost none of the species in the tanks matched the adjacent boards. A few interesting species but next to no information about their lives and habits. Not worth the admission fee.
Negative experience: Very disappointing. Small space for a lot of animals, water is not very clean and most of the animals look depressed. We went so my baby could see some fish, manta rays, etc .. but I really regret we supported a place where the animals are so obviously not happy. Staff was friendly.
Negative experience: The aquarium is very small, in 10 minutes max you will be done visiting it. Not really worth the 7€. The fish are not really interesting either and the tanks are poorly maintained (dirty). Would not recommend
Fantastic experience: It was somewhat smaller than I expected. You don't need much time to visit there. They have one big tank and a few smaller ones. Overall it was a nice expirience. They have nice fishes and sea creatures. If you have some time on your hand you may visit it. However, if you can't visit, you won't miss much unless you have never been to aquarium :-)
Fantastic experience: First time taking our 2 year old son to an aquarium, he was in love with everything. Relatively small but very nice to take kids with you. At the entrance, if you go on your left there are several small “ponds” that a 2 year old can reach via cement steps so they can look directly to fishes and sea stars, even touch on the water. Our son loved it!
Fantastic experience: Fantastic little place. My kids loved it. You will not spend much time there but it is nice to see those little sea creatures with no crowds
Negative experience: All the fish tanks are too small for the type/amount of fish they put in the tanks. For instance, the groupers should have a black colour, but in these aquaria they turn white, which is a sign of stress. Do NOT support this aquarium by visiting it. This treatment of animals should be condemned!
Positive experience: To be honest it was better than I expected. It had a variety of sea life with a good environment. Maybe, they could add more variety of species
Positive experience: Very small aquarium, for my perspective it's not worth the money but you can enjoy the surroundings more
Fantastic experience: Nice little Aquarium. They have several small open fish tanks and one big one for the larger fishes. For 7 euros you can take your time to focus on the details of the fish tanks and its inhabitants. Close to the natural swimming pools at the ocean. Bring your towels and a swimsuit
Positive experience: I recently visited the aquarium and was quite disappointed by the experience. Firstly, the size of the venue was surprisingly small; even when taking my time, I was able to complete the entire walkthrough in a mere 15 minutes. However, my primary concern was the well-being of the fish. It was disheartening to see several of them confined to tanks that seemed too small for their size. A bit sad to see
Negative experience: This aquarium is simply a joke. It's very small, and in no more than 20 minutes (and I'm being indulgent) you're done seeing everything. But that's not the biggest problem, it's that the species of fish and other life in this aquarium are absolutely mundane, commonplace things I've seen in other, much larger and better laid out places. And I wouldn't have given this aquarium a low grade if they hadn't charged me 7 euros for a ticket (June 2023). When you ask visitors for money, then the visitors have certain demands too.
Positive experience: A nice way to pass some time. A little bit pricey at €7 for something that you could quite easily only spend 15 minutes in - if you weren't to pore over each exhibition. The exhibitions were generally in good condition however some of the Grey Mullet had far exceeded their tank size and deserved a larger environment.
Fantastic experience: Small Aquarium on Madeira for 15-30 min watching, but very good exuse to take your kids to Porto Moniz - a small town with charming landscapes 50 km from Funchal. Tickets 7 EUR adult, 4 EUR kids above 6. PORTO MONIZ is a must during your stay on Madeira. We spent very pleasent day. 1 hour Journey from Funchal is full of surprising opportunities for great picture.
Fantastic experience: Nice little aquarium with many kind of fish and other invertebrate sea animals, like starfish, octopus, crabs, lobsters, etc. There is discount for children and seniors. Recommanded for all who like underwater sea life, except those who expect a multi-storey hyper modern aquarium for this price...
